20.01.2022 Food for thought on a Sunday Question for you; When you look at #fitspiration images on social media, do you feel more motivated to train or do you tend to feel less happy with your own physique?... Here is an example of social comparison; The last car I bought was the fastest, newest and most expensive car I had ever purchased. I was very happy with it. Due to a minor fault on delivery, I had to have a courtesy car for a couple of days. This was more expensive and more luxurious. What happened when I got back into my car? I immediately felt less content with it, despite nothing changing. I was just comparing it to a new yardstick. How would this look on social media? Well you could be happy with your fitness progress then look at photos of other people and suddenly feel worse about yourself. This is not me being against 'fitspiration' images as such, after all I am partial to a half naked selfie on occasion however I do think the topic should be discussed in the interest of social responsibility. So back to the question; When you look at #fitspiration images on social media, do you feel more motivated to train or do you tend to feel less happy with your own physique? #gym #science #workout #fitness #fit #instafit #selfie #bodybuilding #weightloss #sixpack #motivation #diet #health #nutrition #exercise #calorie #ukbff #wbff #calories #training #caloriecounting #hipthrust #glutebridge #instafit #fitfam #squats #fitspo #fitspiration #inspiration #glutes #booty

16.01.2022 #Repost @bdccarpenter (@get_repost) Following on, this is why I think 'clean eating' is potentially damaging. So, I am new to the fitness industry and am following the advice of industry gurus (we are going back like 15 years ago). They told me I have to avoid sugar. It is not a clean food, it is processed, a toxin, it would make me fat, it would turn me into a big ball of inflammation before stealing my lunch money and killing my cat.... So, I did just that. I avoided ANYTHING that had sugar listed on the label. Fruit? I avoided that as well. Something something fructose, something something liver, something something diabetes. Cake at a birthday party? Nope. Dessert with friends? Nope. Now, to many people this seems ludicrous, right? But, how many people still think like this? Black and white style thinking. Food is good or bad and sugar is definitely bad (apparently). But, what if there was more nuance to that? Sugar actually doesn't look like it is inherently fattening at all. Yes, it tastes good and yes, it is easy to overeat. However, you don't NEED to avoid it like the plague. So yeah, those people that demonise foods and write really exaggerated scary articles about how certain foods are going to destroy your body. Those people need to rethink their approach. Because they don't realise how badly they can impact people's psychology. Me being one of them.

14.01.2022 Heart felt messages like this always gives coaches / nutritionists / PTs the fuzzies it’s been just as rewarding for me @brookeealyce

12.01.2022 @kelsey_tuihalangingie Strength doesn’t come from what you can do, it comes from over coming the things you thought you couldn’t do Early January I was weighing in at 45kgs, had low self esteem and hated life for things I couldn’t control. 12 weeks on and with the help of @beckirkuppt and @lachlangaedtke I’ve gained a total of 8kgs! You guys have changed the way I look at things and I am loving my body more everyday! Especially my (thanks Bec ) still a long way to go, the best is yet to come Couldn’t thank you both enough for everything you have done BEST PT AND NUTRITIONIST EVER!!! @worldgym.ipswich #wgifitfam

11.01.2022 Posted @withrepost @adaptive_devine I get the question enough: so here’s the answer (link coming in bio to YouTube vid on the topic) #WeightlossSurgery NO I have not had and no I have not ever considered having it- although people feel the need to suggest it all the time and even tell me that they’ll do it no problem because of your legs/leg/lungs like it’s something to be super stoked about.. I have every EXCUSE under the sun to get weightloss surgery - I was... 120kg at my heaviest - walking is painful and some days I am so tired from being sore I can barely make myself have a shower at the end of the day, Can’t sleep some nights at all from pain so working out feels impossible, food becomes a comfort! And I still struggle HARD!! With my lungs and pain in my lungs from the blood clots. Cleary plenty of people see these as legitimate reasons I see them as legitimate excuses! I have lost 17kg in these photos - from managing my diet! And very inconsistently exercising because of my feet - it’s slow, it’s not a quick fix and it takes work, and it’s totally achievable , for me, NEVER have considered and never will- each to their own- but for me, no I have legitimate reason , only excuses which I refuse to use!
