20.01.2022 You catch some of Russell Ping's stunning contemporary depiction of his Biripi Country. The power of the Dawson River in the artwork helps join the stories that Russell shares about his connection with his country. You can view this work and others in the current exhibtion #Togetherwestand at the Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre. A beautiful collaborative piece that Russell had worked on with his wife Leigh Hooker can also be viewed. I have really enjoyed being able to look closer at all of Russell's works. feeling that dry mud and tasting and smelling the scents of ripe fruit and gunpowder...expressing connection to country through creativity.

19.01.2022 You can view some of Leigh Hooker's Artworks in the current exhibition at the Cooroy Butterfactory Arts Centre. A stunning collaborative piece can also seen called The Peacemaker that she has created with Russell Ping. I can so much into the artwrok title "Cone of Silence" ARTIST STATEMENT: 'Cone of Silence' began with my relationship with Mt.Cooroora, an ancient volcanic cone that stands like a sentinel with our little town of Pomona on the eastern side. It is a reflection o...n the generations that have lived and worked around this area of the Sunshine Coast hinterland , hence the tree symbol. The old mans face was drawn from an historical photo of the last three elders taken to Cherbourg Reserve where every aspect of their lives was controlled by the Australian government. 18.01.2022 A detail snippet of my study in urban shows. I have been spending alot of my time in nature and walking and observing the bush. So when I had time to sit on my verandah the shadows were very contrasting to the beauty of shadows in nature. Both strangely very calming to study with shadows sharing movement and opacity. Those that have come before me I wonder how the feelings have continued to run through my blood, through my fingers, through my mind and soul of seeing and feeling and hearing.
