24.01.2022 This term, 1W have been doing an inquiry about the insects and small creatures that can be found in our playground. We explored the playground and recorded what we found on a giant map. We did some research about why insects are important and helpful, and we thought about ways we could attract more insects into our playground. We designed and made a ‘Creepy Crawly Campsite’ and a ‘Caterpillar Café’ and we were very excited when some insects chose to move in!

24.01.2022 ATHLETICS CARNIVAL Today is our Athletics Carnival! A reminder that 1 adult per family can attend at any time. We ask all spectators to enter via the covid sign in desk on the top oval. 19.01.2022 Good Evening Launching into Learning families, Just a friendly suggestion to dress your children in older clothes tomorrow as we may get a tad dirty and messy! We will be spraying our fabric (the hand printed one from last week) with dye, finger painting and washing our farm animals after the children dip them in mud- so maybe not your childs best outfits for tomorrows session . Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow, ... Cheers Nat and Lisa.

19.01.2022 Zara from Prep Underwood brought in some tadpoles from her Nan and Pops farm. The Preps have had a very exciting time watching the tadpoles growing into frogs. Here are some of their thoughts.

19.01.2022 All Grade 5/6 classes have been exploring the question: How does our spending impact the world? The inquiry has encouraged us to think about the use of palm oil, excess packaging on products and the items that are created in sweatshops. We also looked at influencers, particularly on YouTube, and how they can encourage us to spend money on things that are not suitable or healthy for their audience. Marli, Taleeta and Lily discovered that some influencers promote energy drinks and they wanted to share their findings with other students to help them become informed and critical viewers.

17.01.2022 1/2 DAVEY EVANS WASHBASKET CHALLENGE: In 1/2DE we have had a bit of fun playing in Miss Evans wash basket. We were learning about some of the forces and we decided that pulling was a lot easier than pushing but sometimes pushing can be easier than pulling , it depends on the weight. We also have some questions to answer: Why does weight change pull or push being easier? Is pulling easier when standing or sitting?

16.01.2022 On Thursday 5th November, Prep Underwood and Prep Lawes participated in Outdoor Classroom Day. The children participated in Reading Groups outside, water play, sponge target throwing, sketching, finding patterns in our playground, nature art, yoga and sand sculpture making; amongst other activities. 05.01.2022 Hi everyone! Don’t forget tomorrow is a dress-up as an emotion day. If you are struggling to come up with ideas, it is as simple as dress in something that makes you happy (school appropriate), a happy colour etc. Some students may prefer to come in their uniform and that is okay too. Please do not stress over what to wear, don’t worry, be happy (If you are able to make a donation, great! If not, you are still more than welcome to dress up).

04.01.2022 The students in 1W enjoyed a play with the Kinder students last week. We particularly enjoyed the ice inquiry that the Kinder students were investigating. We loved experimenting with the ice and listening to the Kinders explain their ideas about what was happening.

We worked collaboratively to research what explorers were looking for, why they went exploring and what they found. We presented our findings with posters which included information reports, pictures and drawings. Some of the explorers we investigated were Abel Tasman, James Cook, Christopher Columbus, Giovanni de Verranzano and Jacques Cartier.

02.01.2022 Zane, Jackson and Wyatt (from 5/6A and 5/6L) would like to share some exciting news. They have been doing an inquiry about how our spending impacts the world. They looked at influencers and found that many of them encourage viewers to buy energy drinks. The boys were concerned about this because energy drinks are not good for children. They contacted Jess from SeaFM and they have been invited to be on the breakfast show tomorrow morning at 8:50am. Tune in and hear our young superstars share what they have learnt.

01.01.2022 By: Addison - 5/6 Reeves: On the 23rd of November we celebrated Miss Reeves 40th birthday. To start the day off everyone brought Miss Reeves a balloon or two. In total we brought her 40 balloons. Tully, Acacia, Lara, and I also made a card that everyone signed. Mrs McCall planned a full day of fun starting with a warmup of an "A to Z all about me" about Miss Reeves. After that, we did a quiz all about Miss Reeves to see who knew Miss Reeves the best. Bryce and Joe won by one question! After recess we then did a maths relay. We were in groups of four and had 16 questions, but Mrs McCall had to take a few out as they were too hard. Noah, Lara, Samuel, and Stephanie won the maths relay. In the last block we drew a border collie for Harvey. We had a great day, and we hope that Miss Reeves did too. Here are some of our drawings.

We’ve also learnt facts about the Chinese Moon Festival, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Hanukah, Bastille Day, Diwali, Passover and many more. Pearl - For Diwali, they make rugs to put at the front door of their house. Harper and Zarah - For Passover they have a really, really big feast. Here are some action shots of us on our inquiry journey.
