25.01.2022 This gorgeous little girl loves her Barbie car and her pink car seat so much she couldn’t wait to get back into it with her Mum. They have been having a ball driving around the island in true Barbie girl style.

Just a heads up that Magnetic Island has had very heavy rainfalls and a king tide which means most roads on the island are flooded and many roads have been closed as they are impassable. Due to this rain event and for the safety of anyone on the roads we are not hiring cars out until this passes. Our apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.

17.01.2022 Can islanders and tourists PLEASE stay back from our wild koalas - especially mums and their joeys The koalas are facing lots of stresses at the moment 1. It’s ...really dry so food is not as nutritious so mums struggle to feed both themselves and their joeys at this time of year 2. It’s breeding season and the males are not particularly good at understanding that no means no from the girls - they will chase a mum with a back rider and then mum and baby get separated. If too small the baby needs to be reunited with mum or needs full time care - but only if found in time 3. Lots of people and traffic on the island - please SLOW down we have lost two mumma koalas in the past 3 weeks 4. Too many selfies Yes they are cute BUT please don’t get up close - I need people to understand the consequences of getting too close and crowding them in the wild An abandoned Joey can take up to 12 months of hand rearing with NO guarantee of survival Use your zooms people! Tour guides - please please understand the effects that taking multiple visitors to one koala and in particular a mum and Joey is having. The koala hospital can do so much but we desperately need islanders and tourists help keep our numbers down - Koalas should be able to live here in peace
