23.01.2022 This announcement from APRA today is a very positive move for borrowers & lenders alike. Effectively what lenders now have the option of doing is reducing the servicing/buffer rate when assessing a consumers borrowing capacity with home lending down to at least 2.5% above the actual rate. At present, particularly with the recent rate cuts, the buffer was getting close to 4%. We still have to lend responsibly however to avoid financial hardship, but this change should make the process of obtaining finance a little easier. We now wait to see what our banks will do. With a family of 5 weve reduced our waste that goes to landfill down to 1 bag per week & even then its half full. Trust me its really easy to do. Jump on board folks & help the environment. Its critical we change our habits & that of the corporates of the world.
