20.01.2022 The threat of the coronavirus continues to spread across the world. The global economy is taking a hit as tourism, education, stock markets, import/export and many other industries are feeling the punch. But what about the property market? Across the news they are saying that Australian’s are starting to preparing for its spread into our country. First fires and now a virus and we’re meant to be the lucky country. It’s only a matter of time before the ripple effect may ...impact the property market. Given the uncertainty in the property market last year, 2020 started out as a fresh start for many buyers and sellers to look forward too. Real Estate Institution Victoria’s data also showed for that Melbourne’s metropolitan median house prices surpassed $850 000 (https://reiv.com.au/market-insights/victorian-insights). Due to travel bans Chinese prestige shoppers cannot enter Australia which means some high end properties will likely be sold to locals rather than Chinese buyers. Although preparations are in place for the outbreak to continue, there are many speculations about the virus may either spread or be contained. After all Australia has one of the best healthcare systems in the world. However some experts predict once things ease down in China it is likely the rest of the world will go back to normal. After SARS in 2003 the Chinese economy bounced back quite quickly and there was little lasting impact on the overall global economy. Will it be the same in 2020? it’s still unpredictable what exactly will happen. For now houses are selling and its business as usual.
