23.01.2022 Being a bit of a bird-nerd, I was really hoping to see a Comb-Crested Jacana, while we travelled through the north of the country. In Kakadu NP I got a real treat, seeing this mother and her four chicks walk across the wetlands' floating plants with their enormously long toes. #exploreaustralia #discoveraustralia #kakadunationalpark #kakadu #birdnerd #virtualvacation #naturefirst

23.01.2022 Picked up some prints from the framers today (Covid restrictions still prevent me working in the framing studio), ready to head off to their forever homes. I love seeing my work printed up large. And even more than that, I love the thought of them hanging up in someone’s home or office.

22.01.2022 I have been dreaming about seeing Victoria Falls since I was a child. I can't even say why, but it's always been there. The day I got to stand above the waterfall and see it with my own eyes is etched in my memory. There is such a massive volume of water going over the falls that spray can be seen from 50km away. The spray falls almost constantly - it literally rains down on you from a clear blue sky. This constant rainfall has created Victoria Fall's own unique rainforest. I'm looking forward to the day I can see it again. #victoriafalls #landscapephotography #africa #zimbabwe #naturefirst

22.01.2022 The spectacular Tolmer Falls at NT's Litchfield National Park. On the bottom left of the falls you can see a cave that is home to colonies of threatened Ghost Bats and Orange Horseshoe Bats. The Orange Horseshoe bats were attracted to my car's headlights, on my way to shoot the moonlit Wangi Falls (see my last post). All my years of Atari as a child paid off because I thankfully didn't hit a single one! #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #waterfall #waterfalls #litchfieldnationalpark #virtualvacation #landscapephotography

21.01.2022 The Dampier Archipelago is a group of 42 islands of the coast of Dampier and Karratha in WA, and is the next stop for my virtual vacation because I'm in need of some beachy vibes (and I can travel long distances quickly because it's virtual). I was very fortunate to be able to visit this region with my cousin, a local with a boat!! Thanks again Frosty! I will just let the pictures speak for themselves. #exploreaustralia #discoveraustralia #landscapephoto #beachvibes #naturefirst #virtualvacation

20.01.2022 Two years ago I was very fortunate to be given the opportunity to complete an internship in Zimbabwe. As well as learning about conservation and biodiversity management, I also had plenty of amazing photo opportunities - vultures squabbling over a recent buffalo kill being one of them. #victoriafallszimbabwe #zambezinationalpark #birdsofafrica #wildlifephotography #wildlifephotos #naturefirst

20.01.2022 Yes, I'm still reminiscing over Africa.. This beautiful lady was in Chobe National Park, Botswana, (on one of my days "off") covered in dried mud, hanging out with the rest of her herd #elephant #iloveelephants #chobenationalpark #botswana #botswanasafari #naturefirst #wildlifephotography

20.01.2022 Hopping across country to central Australia now, with Kata Tjuta in morning glory. My first sunrise shoot with two of my girls... one chose to stay in the car haha #exploreaustralia #discoveraustralia #naturefirst #landscapephotography #centralaustralia #katatjuta

19.01.2022 I was so excited to see my first Sturt's Desert Pea, while in Karratha, our mainland point for the Dampier Archipelago. I had been searching for weeks for this iconic flower, then got filthy dirty rolling around on the ground taking heaps of photos. #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #virtualvacation #sturtdesertpea #pilbara

18.01.2022 And just because I get really excited editing images of wild birds from my travels, here's another Comb-Crested Jacana at Kakadu NP. For those of you not familiar with them, this image shows how their huge toes splay out and enable them to walk over floating plants. #exploreaustralia #discoveraustralia #kakadunationalpark #kakadu #birdnerd #virtualvacation #naturefirst

16.01.2022 And our next stop is westwards to the NT to Litchfield National Park. I absolutely loved Litchfield and I hope you do too. This pano was taken on the Florence River, just down stream from the magnificent falls... that pic is still to come #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #litchfieldnationalpark #virtualvacation #landscapephotography #naturefirst

16.01.2022 I just had to include the magical Mossman Gorge in my FNQ images. The last time I visited this place I couldn't believe how overrun with tourists it was. Although QLD isn't in lockdown, travel is restricted everywhere and I like to think of this place getting a well earned respite. #exploreaustralia #discoveraustralia #virtualvacation #mossmangorge #farnorthqueensland #naturefirst

15.01.2022 To finish up our FNQ vacation, I had to post a pano of the Port Douglas lookout. Blue skies. Long sandy beach. Bright sunshine - are you feeling it? #exploreaustralia #discoveraustralia #virtualvacation #beachvibes #landscapephotography

15.01.2022 The Daintree Rainforest in Far North Queensland, is one of the most biologically diverse rainforests in the world. It is also one of the oldest. There is very much a sense of greater wisdom when walking through such an old forest. #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #naturefirst #farnorthqueensland #daintree #daintreerainforest

14.01.2022 Next stop at NT's magnificent Litchfield NP is Wangi Falls, by the light of a full moon. #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #wangifalls #litchfieldnationalpark #naturefirst #virtualvacation

13.01.2022 If you know me well enough, you'll know how much I love a raptor. I spotted this gorgeous juvenile Osprey having a rest from fishing, in the Dampier Archipelago WA. #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #raptors #birdsofaustralia #osprey #naturefirst

13.01.2022 My reaction to seeing a lot of animals in Africa surprised me. I think in my head I'd created my own list of favourites and buffalos didn't make the cut. However, seeing a wild herd up close, wallowing in the mud one hot afternoon, was one of the (many) highlights of my trip. #africa #africananimals #africansafari #africanbuffalo #buffalo #volunteerwork #naturefirst #wildlifephotography

12.01.2022 Another pic from Central Australia, this beautiful Bearded Dragon. I startled this poor creature sunning itself and watched it run across the red sand, and up this rock, then change its body colour to camouflage with the rock, while keeping it's head the red to camouflage with its background. It was really cool to see... I only wish I'd captured the moment on video. #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #naturefirst #beardeddragon #reptilesofinstagram #centralaustralia

12.01.2022 So further into our Central Australia virtual getaway (because we can't leave Melbourne for now) we're right in the heart of this beautiful country. This is at the base of Uluru, by one of it's stunning waterholes, with the most intense of backdrops. #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #landscapephotography #uluru #ulurukatatjutanationalpark #naturefirst

11.01.2022 And finally for my last pic of our virtual Karijini getaway, Weano Gorge. Again with the warm reflections from the sun reflecting off the gorge walls and a rich blue sky. Magic #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #naturefirst #landscapephotography #landscape #karijininationalpark

11.01.2022 Our virtual vacation moves to the NT now to Kakadu NP. At approximately a third of the size of Tassie, this place sure does pack a punch. This is sunset over Yellow Water Billabong where hundreds of mammoth sized crocs lurk, waiting for a distracted photographer to lose their footing and fall overboard! #exploreaustralia #discoveraustralia #landscapephotography #sunsetphotography #virtualvacation #kakadu #yellowwater

11.01.2022 It's been a couple of weeks since my last post. I had been trying to get a picture of a Jabiru nest in Kakadu, then seamlessly move my virtual vacation to FNQ with this Jabiru. But I just couldn't get the image to a point where I was happy with it. So with lockdown extended, I have given up on the Jabiru nest and we are now (unseamlessly - I'm sure that's a word) vacationing in Far North Queensland, where I captured this beautiful Jabiru and its stunning shimmering colours #exploreaustralia #discoveraustralia #VirtualVacation #birdsofaustralia #birdsofinstagram #jabiru #farnorthqueensland

10.01.2022 My last one from the Dampier Archipelago. I was kindly dropped off from that little boat down there, so I could climb up and take a picture of this Sea Eagle's nest. I have since learnt that Sea Eagle's often use the same nest repeatedly, coming back each year to tidy it up, lay their eggs then raise their chicks. #VirtualVacation #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #dampierachipelago

10.01.2022 So here's our final image from Central Australia. When we visited I wanted to get a perspective of Uluru that we don't always see, rather than the iconic, which is taken from the main highway at sunset. This image was taken from a completely different angle (bearing in mind it is 10km around the base) at sunrise. #exploreaustralia #discoveraustralia #landscapephotography #ulurukatatjutanationalpark #virtualvacation #naturefirst

07.01.2022 Another one from Dampier Archipelago in WA: deep blue skies, iron rich red rocks, turquoise waters and warm sunshine. Ahhh take me there... #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #landscapephotography #beachvibes #virtualvacation #naturefirst #northwest

06.01.2022 And my last pic from Litchfield National Park, NT, may make your head hurt. If you can't quite tell (my husband struggled) this is a Paperbark swamp, with the reflections of the Paperbark trees reflected in the still water of the swamp, and the glow of sunset, which of course, us photographers, just love. #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #litchfieldnationalpark #paperbarkswamp #swamp #virtualvacation #naturefirst #landscapephotography

06.01.2022 This image was taken from a bar with, what is arguably, the best bar view in the world: a waterhole where wild animals come to drink, especially at sunset. This giraffe was peacefully drinking, with a few Guinea Fowl running round it's legs while I sipped my Bacardi. #victoriafallszimbabwe #wildlifephotography #wildlifephotos #giraffesofinstagram #giraffes #naturefirst

05.01.2022 Here's my last pic from Kakadu. It wouldn't be a trip to the top end without a Saltie, gliding through the waters, just before sunset. #exploreaustralia #discoveraustralia #kakadunationalpark #topend #kakadu #crocodiles #virtualvacation

05.01.2022 It wouldn't be a trip to Central Australia without watching the rock at sunset, in it's beautiful glory #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #naturefirst #landscapephotography #uluru #ulurukatatjutanationalpark #VirtualVacation

02.01.2022 The first time I visited Cape Tribulation Beach in far north Queensland, I was so excited to get out and see the beach I ran straight past the Crocodile Warning sign, and took this pano. Fortunately there were no crocs lurking in the water behind me. #virtualvacation #discoveraustralia #exploreaustralia #landscapephotography #farnorthqueensland
