23.01.2022 Daily street life in the Uygur old town of the centre of Kashgar situated in far western China. The photographs are a street photos selection made over the course of ten days exactly twenty years ago. All photographed in a classic street photography style on Kodak Tri-X film with two cameras two lenses. At that time Uygur people made up 90% of the population. Street life was so vibrant, saturated with the traditions of their timeless culture. I would head out into the street ...at 5am to photograph widely around town as it woke up and at around 10am I would have breakfast with @feliciap6 at a miniature Pakistani home cooking restaurant in those narrow lane ways near our hotel. Thinking about what it must be like for the many traditional cultures living in Xinjiang province as the countries of the world are seemingly powerless to help in moderating their situation. 21.01.2022 Dr Ciku (Wanjiku) Mathenge eye surgeon in Kigali Rwanda has a way with her patients. She was nominated as Eye Health Hero with The International Agency for Prevention if Blindness and is a Medical Adviser to the Fred Hollows Foundation. Firstly here she is Photographed with Eric 9 and Francine 76 Both had Cataract in both eyes although Eric had his surgery done on both eyes at the same time because of his pediatric circumstances. 17.01.2022 Transforming lives in Himalayan India. Kalimpong Eye Camp 2016. Dr Sanduk Ruit and his Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology The Fred Hollows Foundation ophthalmic team working with Kalimpong eye centre staff and monks from nearby Lava Monastery. This is a series of photographs made within twenty-four hours of each other. The monks brought Mina Tampang, 51 from Upper Pedong 30km from Kalimpong. Mina had not been able to see well for a couple of years, blind for the past two months. Her husband has to do all the housework and the only thing she was able to do is visit the toilet. 15.01.2022 New work just released online. Fresh new website for the global technology company SpeeDx Pty Ltd. Making this photography with SpeeDx Global Marketing Director Madeline O'Donoghue and marketing team Katalin Tas Guy Fenton was a very satisfying creative experience. We made the principal photography for the site late last 2019. SpeeDx a private company molecular diagnostics solutions with head office in the inner suburbs of Sydney and offices in London and US. They detect infectious diseases using novel technology. The Australian government has funded the company to help respond locally to the COVID-19 crisis. 09.01.2022 Creating group photographs for a brand new website for www.lacademie.com working with dance school Owner Director and Principal oof @lacademiesydney A dance school based in the inner west of Sydney. We made the photographs in the closest park to the dance centre on the weekend. The former soloist in several German dance companies from 1998-205 Kristyn choreographed each scene to an idea which I lit and adjusted to make each scene work in an image. I used two @profotoglobal lights bounced into @photekusa umbrellas shot on @canonaustralia @canon5dmark4. Thankyou to the L’Academie dance team for holding and looking after gear. 06.01.2022 Part Two of ABC Australian Story tonight at 8pm Australian actor-director-screen writer Joel Edgerton vists Nepal to witness first hand the work of the Fred Hollows Foundation through it’s partner Nepalese Eye doctor Dr Sanduk Ruit and his Tilganga Institute of Opthlamology outreach team. In this series here Joel guides and watched the progress of both Kauchi Maya Tamang and the older Kumari Sarki through their sight restoration. Both were blind with cataracts in each of their eyes.The outreach team create a makeshift outreach eye camp in Manthali Ramechhap Bagmati Pradesh 131 kms from Kathmandu. 02.01.2022 Since working with Dr Sanduk Ruit in Hanoi 1992 with Fred Hollows I have travelled with and photographed his projects with a multitude of partners over twenty eight years. Most of my most life affirming personal and professional experiences have been traveling this man. Happy Birthday Sanduk. One of those highlights photographing in Leh the capital of Laddah India with The Fred Hollows Foundation team. I made a portrait of Dr Ruit with all of his patients from the day before. It’s a dream he shared with Fred Hollows to make sight restoration accessible to people of every social demographic.
