23.01.2022 Great privilege to be sworn in today racking up 22 years in local government , can still remember my first meeting back in 1994. I was sworn in today at 9am and I was sworn at at 6.30 am for not doing the dishes at home twice in the one day.

20.01.2022 What a great end to a fantastic event Cr Wright and Deputy Mayor John Collins and myself were present to help with the trophy presentation for the Don River Dash 300. Here we are with Dakar legend Toby Price who leaves on Wednesday to compete again in the historic race. He confirmed this is going to be one of the best events around for bikes and cars so well done to Burdekin Off-road Races club I think you’ve created a Monster.

19.01.2022 Whitsunday Regional Council would like to remind residents that the burning of green waste or materials that may cause a smoke nuisance, fumes or threat to prop...erty are strictly prohibited across the Whitsunday region. Fires contained within a fire pit or brazier and directly associated with the purpose of warmth or cooking are permitted, but must be attended to by an adult whilst lit and extinguished immediately after use. We encourage you to be mindful of your neighbours and reduce smoke and fumes by using clean, dry, non-toxic material, not burning wet, green vegetation, giving your fire maximum airflow and observing weather conditions before lighting fires. If you are concerned about backyard fires in your neighbourhood, please contact Council’s Local Laws Team on 1300 972 753.

18.01.2022 I had a tour of the Murroona Gardens refurbishment with Cr Wright and Chairmen Garry Martin and CEO Greg Pollard , what and achievement the Murroona Gardens board have completed. To know such a 5 Star facility is here in Bowen for a local Collinsville and Bowen elderly residents is just mind blowing. I am so proud that a facility exists for our senior citizens that is so modern, so luxurious and comforting to those folks who might be worried about moving into a Aged care facilities, I have known Garry Martin for many years in his previous role as our engineer at the council so I understand the detail that he would have put into this project as chairman. Well done to all involved it’s a credit to you and definitely our community.

16.01.2022 I do hope these fishermen are proud of themselves as no one else is after leaving this mess at the Boat ramp at the Don River Queensbeach. Would love to know if anyone saw who’s responsible for this mess

11.01.2022 Earlier this month, Whitsunday Regional Council launched a new online portal that displays crucial information for potential investors, developers, businesses a...nd residents. The online planning portal is an easy-to-use tool and covers three main areas: Planning reports, Flood reports and the Investor Portal. It seeks to enhance understanding of the Planning Scheme, by informing how the scheme relates to a block of land, informing development potential and providing easy to use research tools which help identify suitable parcels of land for new development. The information on offer will increase investor confidence and go a long way to encouraging responsible, sustainable development in the Whitsunday region. The portal was funded by the Queensland Government under the Innovation and Improvement fund and demonstrates Council’s commitment to improving transparency for the Whitsunday business community. 11.01.2022 What a ANZAC Day 2020 was I think it will be remembered as the people’s day I had the privilege of doing my paper delivery’s and attending the cenotaph at 5.45 and continuing on to Belgravia st where at the time of 6 am I joined all of those in the street to commemorate the dawn service which I played on my car radio. Then invited to attend Bill Bartys Scott Street 9.30 am service with residents there. It was truly amazing for me to see so many people all over Bowen paying there respects at dawn , some in suits lots in pyjamas which I think again will be remembered as more of the people for the diggers and a morning I will never forget. Lest We Forget.

10.01.2022 So the questions I get about Easter travel has been answered tonight, It has to be essential travel so if your going camping that’s non essential travel you will be fined. People are being pulled over that are towing campers as it’s non essential we must stay home. Cheers

09.01.2022 Spoke with the Environent Minster on Tuesday and received news yesterday we can get a permit to move the Golf Club Crocodile to a Zoo or farm. Experts in the department say as it is a freshwater Croc Goosey the Gander will be safe as they don’t eat large Birds only fish frogs etc so WRC will file the application and co ordinate with the Golf Club to give the Croc a safe home. Thanks to the environment Minister for her cooperation on this matter
