25.01.2022 A Melbourne architectural photographer at Valencia's City of Arts and Sciences As soon as we began planning the Spain trip, I knew I had to find a way to fit Valencia into the itinerary. For years I had seen images of the futuristic City of Arts and Sciences and was naturally very keen to spend some time there capturing the buildings in my own style. 22.01.2022 Architectural Photography In Salamanca, Spain Arriving late afternoon by car into the stunning city of Salamanca is certainly an experience to be savoured; as an architectural photographer, I was enchanted by the golden light that bathed the UNESCO world heritage city, animating the incredibly carved sandstone churches, reflecting from the palaces into the lively plazas below. Originally founded in the 4th century BC, Salamanca was at one time under Roman rule, however it was the establishment of the university in the early 13th century that defined its future. 20.01.2022 Commercial Drone Photographer in Melbourne With the advent of affordable high quality drones, it was really only a question of time before I added an aerial camera platform to my equipment arsenal. Prior to purchasing my drone I was keen to learn about the legalities and technical skills necessary to ensure that I was flying safely, and so I earned my remote pilot licence (RePL) through the excellent (and patient!) instruction of Rowan Kimber at [ 884 more words ] http://michaelevansphotographerblog.com//aerial-architect/

20.01.2022 Although I am certainly not a sports photographer I have always really enjoyed watching gridiron, particularly having played back in England as a middle linebacker for a team in Harlow (in my younger days!) I avidly follow the NFL, devouring as many games as I can when time allows during the regular season in the US. Consequently I was somewhat surprised and of course excited to learn that there exists a solid league here in Victoria Australia, and that the next game of the new season was to be played within a 20 minute drive from my home. 19.01.2022 Commercial and industrial video production, Melbourne While I still work primarily as a photographer, I do also produce simple corporate videos for my clients. This particular piece was put together for the fabulous crew at Rob Dolan Winery, who asked me to document Rob's interesting career and associations that led to the founding of his own brand within the beautiful Yarra Valley, combined with a brief description of the amazing range of wines that they produce. 19.01.2022 Tokyo Architecture The unique and extremely interesting shape of the Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower was the result of a competition held by the educational institute, challenging around 50 architects to submit a design that was not rectangular. The winning design selected by Mode Gakuen was that produced by Tange Associates, the cocoon shape supposedly representing a nurturing of the students inside. 16.01.2022 A Melbourne based architectural photographer in Wales, UK On a visit back to the UK, my parents who live in the pretty little village of Usk in Gwent, offered to take me to Cardiff Bay for the day. Located within the 4.7 acre site is the stunning Millennium Centre Wales building, of which I had seen many images online, but as an architectural photographer I was naturally keen to capture some views for myself; fortunately the staff in this lovely building are very tolerant of photographers, although no tripods are allowed. 15.01.2022 Architectural photography at the Natural History Museum On a recent trip back to the UK I was able to visit the wonderful Natural History Museum in South Kensington on two separate occasions; the first very brief visit being to view the incredible Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, while on the second visit I was fortunate enough to be accompanied by my brother's son Jack, as we conducted a mini photo essay of the marvelous building while catching up on the years that have passed. 15.01.2022 Architectural photography in Melbourne As much as I love my day to day commercial work, I believe that for any photographer it is important, if not essential, to also pursue personal projects. Photographing for paying clients of course means that the images produced will (hopefully) conform to everyone's expectations in terms of your established style and content, whereas a personal project naturally gives a wonderful sense of creative freedom, a chance to explore, make mistakes and develop a new way of looking... 14.01.2022 This beautiful and much visited shrine sits at the base of the Inari mountain in the Fushimi ward in Kyoto. The shrine is actually dedicated to the god Inari rather than the mountain, and features the distinctive red torii gates that line the 4km's of trails that lead up the mountain to the many smaller (but no less photogenic) shrines along the route. 13.01.2022 The worlds largest fish market, Tokyo, October 2016 Most visitors to Tokyo are aware of the Tsukiji fish market, particularly since it is the largest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world, as well as being one of the largest wholesale food markets. It is also a very popular tourist destination, and while access to the inner wholesale tuna auctions are restricted to a few hundred tickets per day (and held very early in the morning), the outer market offers a wonderful opportunity for photographers. 13.01.2022 A Melbourne Photographer Traveling In Kyoto Kyoto is a city that I would very much enjoy returning to in order to capture the changing of the seasons. Our trip last November deliberately coincided with the stunning autumn foliage, having made a ordered plan as to which part of this beautiful country to visit based around the progressive change in colour. It is a city of approximately 1.5 million inhabitants, with countless shrines and temples combined with a very modern vibe; much damaged during the second world war it once served as the emperor's residence from between 794 up until 1868. 12.01.2022 The Canon 5DSR as a travel camera As I mentioned in a previous post, it has been just over a year since I purchased the Canon 5DSR. As a Melbourne based photographer specialising in the commercial, architectural and industrial fields, it was not that I was unhappy with the files from my 5D Mk III, quite the contrary I still have an absolute love affair with that camera and plan to use it for many years to come. 12.01.2022 Temples and landscapes in Takayama with the Canon 5DSR As the autumn envelopes us here in Melbourne I finally found time to process some more images of my travels around Japan last November 2016. After a fascinating few days in Tokyo we boarded the train at Shinjuku station using our Japan Rail Pass, headed for the city of Takayama in the mountainous Gifu prefecture. 09.01.2022 This simple session of corporate portraits for the wonderful team at Beachside Complete Dental Care in Melbourne ( ) had been in the planning for quite some time, as I had originally been engaged to shoot this back in February of this year. Eventually it was possible to gather the staff from this incredibly busy practice together after surgery hours one Saturday afternoon in October in order to capture some updated images for their practice website. 08.01.2022 Last September during a trip back to the UK for an (all too brief) family visit, I took the opportunity to capture this highly detailed panoramic view of London from the Shard observation deck. Arriving into Heathrow at 6.00am I boarded a tube into the city, and after a brief heart starting coffee break, found myself counting my blessings that the one (and only) day I had available for this panoramic shot was sunny with relatively decent visibility. 07.01.2022 Melbourne Commercial Photographer at the Avalon Airshow 2017 The last time I was able to attend the Avalon International Airshow was in 2003, back when I was still using film. Held every 2 years, the airshow has always seemed to come and go at a time when I have either been working interstate, or laid up in bed sick, as was the case back in 2015. 05.01.2022 Street Photography in Hanoi Imagine living with a train track just a few feet from your front door...? In the quirky old quarter of Hanoi, the inhabitants on the railway tracks have swapped the hazards of the ubiquitous moped for those of a high speed train flying past twice daily. Washing, cooking, trading and catching up with neighbours is noisily interrupted for a few minutes as the train rumbles past, and then the calm returns. 424 more words [ 123 more words ] http://michaelevansphotographerblog.com//life-on-hanoi-tr/

05.01.2022 Arriving mid afternoon into Kanazawa from Takayamawe quickly checked into our hotel near the station, squeezed our bags into what purported to be a hotel room, only smaller, and headed out to explore while the weather was still favourable. A 20 minute walk from the station and we arrived at the beautiful Kanazawa castle, which we planned to visit the next day and yet I snapped a few frames as we made our way to the famous Kenrokuen gardens. 04.01.2022 Architectural Photography in Singapore Easter is a great time to visit Singapore from Melbourne, particularly as we were able to get some relatively inexpensive flights and a good deal on a fantastic suite at the iconic Fullerton Hotel. Although some may be dissuaded by the 7 hour flight time, it pales by comparison to the usual marathon trek that we undertake each year to Europe; indeed a couple of movies, lunch and the occasional glass of wine from the in-flight bar and we soon found ourselves swapping wings for wheels during the short 20 minute taxi ride from the airport.
