19.01.2022 Scammers will claim to be from any organisation, even imaginary ones. They will always make claims to make it sound important and urgent for you to let them help you. Legitimate organisations don't do this.

08.01.2022 Over the years of communications and computers, the devices we use and the encryption we deploy to keep things private and make them secure has improved. What has remained largely the same are the humans using the computers and phones. Often they do not get 'upgraded', and so remain the weak point in the system. The Cyberwire has released a new podcast that is focused, not on the hardware and software, but on the wetware (human) parts of systems, and how they can be vulnerabl...e. For those who are non-technical, Hacking Humans is an easy to digest eye-opener. https://thecyberwire.com/podcasts/hacking-humans.html

07.01.2022 The Darknet Diaries: Interesting Tales from Cyber Security. Perhaps you are interested in cyber security and want to know more. Perhaps you feel like the hype of cyber security is being inflated by Hollywood, and it's nothing like what they say. Or perhaps you are sick of drive-time radio on your long commute, and want something a little more stimulating and thought provoking. If you have access to podcasts, I can highly recommend The Darknet Diaries by Jack Rhysider. (www.da...rknetdiaries.com). There is something that sets Jack's podcast out from others I have been listening to. Many others such as Cyberwire, are really good and well presented, and current with the topics of the day or week. Great for those wanting to keep atop the latest. However unless you already have a strong computing bent, some of these may not quite capture your attention. The Darknet Diaries however is presented in much more of an intimate story-telling style. Jack fully investigates and teases out the details of hacking and cyber security/defence events that have occurred in the past, but brings them to life by including highly relevant interviews, whilst adding to the story the every evolving real-world events that exist outside of the cyber world. I can only commend Jack on his thorough investigation, and easy to listen to presentation. This is definitely a podcast for those in the industry and those who in some small part would just like to see how this emerging battle-front of technology and information fits into the real world. Even more impressive is that Jack has established and publishes this content by himself - without any team to support him. Two thumbs up!

06.01.2022 Troy Hunt is a well renowned, Australian cyber-security researcher. He is the brains behind the site #haveibeenpwned.com where you can look up your email addresses and those of your family to see if your credentials have been exposed in any mass data hacks. If your email address is in Troy's site, your login credentials for at least one site where your email is part of the profile is no longer secure. Change all passwords for each and every account that uses that email address immediately.

04.01.2022 The Internet gives those cyber-criminals who deal in extortion and blackmail the opportunity to target more victims over the entire world. Don't be panicked, and learn to read and think your way through these scams as I take you on a tour through one that I received recently. http://michaellaneitandtraining.blogspot.com//black-e-mail

03.01.2022 ABC's Four Corners team have put together a good investigation of the world of romance scams. Well worth watching. Could you be on the suckers list?
