25.01.2022 Thanks Yonex Tennis Australia/New Zealand and YONEX for having today’s new VCore Demo Day at Parkdale Tennis Club. Really enjoyed hitting with them all, particularly the 95. Great racquet and came off nicely with easy power. The colour coordination with the racquet was not planned!

22.01.2022 They all start somewhere. Junior competition was back this weekend and a first experience for a new group of players. Now to get the next transitioning group ready

22.01.2022 It’s official! Roll Tide!

19.01.2022 Some great weighted ball exercises for players to develop the mechanics on their serve (Loading - Cocking - Acceleration - Contact - Pronation) as well as strength and muscular endurance. Pronation focus Supinated position & release in pronated position through release... () Focus on hang time High release (contact) & Back leg balance and load Release energy up and out through the kinetic chain to release Load back hip Explosive Release from load position For much younger players, much lighter equipment can be used to ensure the correct technique is used and avoid injury.

16.01.2022 Only one week to go before our 2021 Term coaching lessons are back! Starting Monday 1 February.

13.01.2022 Some great progress by Maksim with his backhand. He was breaking the plane in the backswing, turning his wrists downward, very right hand dominant and found himself reaching for the ball with his hands. As a result it was causing him to drop the ball short and and unable to penetrate through the court. Better shoulder turn Keep the backswing in the ‘slot’ More open racquet face at contact ... Better extension & use of left arm The continued development and added progressions will allow him to adapt to a more offensive tactical mindset with the shot.

12.01.2022 Developing a complete player is more than just being able to hit great ground stokes, volleys and serves. Allowing kids to explore, be creative, feel the ball and enhance their court craft should be encouraged at every opportunity. Touch games create a competitive environment that can assist in developing:... touch and feel skills and comfort in the forecourt movement tactical mind

10.01.2022 Our is for players who have ambitions to compete on the professional tour and obtain US College scholarships. Pro Tour players Nationally ranked juniors Full time players ... 10/u and up Develop the person. create the athlete. Athlete centred and holistic approach. Long Term development plan. High performing environment. Low player to court ratio. For players committed to a consistent, training and tournament schedule.

10.01.2022 Own that backhand side

06.01.2022 e , Reviewing sessions and providing more detail to players with Swing has been very productive. Video is such a valuable and crucial component training and match reviews, even if a lot of players don’t enjoy looking back at themselves.

06.01.2022 The band is back together. Easing the 25km zone restrictions means everyone is back this week. First lesson in 4 months for Roman(10) and can see the structured online sessions and schedule during lockdown is allowing a smooth continuation of the work being done.

05.01.2022 Parents play a massive role in their child’s development and are an integral part of the team. As a coach, they are a crucial component to ensure the environment and culture created is continued in every thing they do. Parents regularly fear whether they are doing enough, say the right things or even unaware that what they think may be helpful, is actually detrimental to their child’s long term development. Educating parents, many of whom are first time tennis parents, is j...ust as important as any on court session with players for a coach. When everyone’s on the same page and fully invested in the journey it can produce amazing results. Support and ensure their tennis experience is enjoyable. Maintain a long term perspective (be patient & focus on the process) Understand the pathway Create a LEARNING & SAFE environment. Emphasise core values (eg work ethic, resilience, respect) Encourage autonomy and unstructured play FAILURE is encouraged Accountability and discipline for poor behaviour Listen and acknowledge your child Set an example (calm and controlled) No tennis discussion or critique, immediately after matches or on car ride home. Always consider the person before the tennis player Trust the coach, you chose them for a reason. Provide unconditional love and care Questions I like to ask parents are: Is it your dream or your child’s? Are you ok with your child deciding to walk away from tennis if they choose to? Are you willing to make the necessary sacrifices for your child’s tennis? Parent’s and coaches are the greatest influences in a players tennis journey and the strength of that relationship within the team is a major asset to coaches.

04.01.2022 Great to see everyone back after so long and the smiling faces. The ‘Flying Frenchman’ almost got blown away with the wind, but it didn’t matter. WE’RE BACK ON COURT!

02.01.2022 - Drill focusing on hitting shots in different areas of the court using different shot contact moves for each shot. Familiarity in all parts of the court and using the correct footwork and execution the goal, whilst also combining the physical component.
