24.01.2022 A mistake I often see in businesses, especially in the sales aspect of a business, is that they just don’t follow up. A person’s excitement and willingness to take action, achieve or purchase is highest within the first few hours of engaging with the idea. Then, generally, over the following few days their interest wanes to almost zero. Sales are made in the follow up. ... This is where the rule of 72 is critical. If you send a quote, follow up. If you send a proposal, follow up. If someone shows interest in your product or service, follow up. Are you sensing a pattern? A good rule of thumb is 24-48 hours for sales related follow up, but also don’t come across needy. If you send a proposal at 10am, following up at 2pm probably isn’t a good idea You will find your sweet spot. Just make sure you follow up. Use the rule of 72 and follow up. See more

23.01.2022 What’s one result you want to achieve by Christmas?

21.01.2022 I run an iPad for my day to day and for all my client sessions. One app that has changed the game for me is Notability. I can import PDFs and draw on them, I can have a never ending notepad, keep my client session notes separated from my Business Chamber Board Meeting notes, and at the end of the day, I can access my notes straight from my OneDrive on my MacBook at home. What’s a game-changing tool in your business?

19.01.2022 Are you working for people or profits? If this was valueable, please give it a sneaky like and a share!

04.01.2022 Sitting watching my son play cricket, I caught myself thinking about a client... As the leader of your business, you wear a lot of hats. It’s hard to be all over all things. So how do you know if there’s trouble brewing within your team in the workplace? Well there are a few indicators ... Are your team always calling in sick? Or are they getting to work, and wanting to leave early? Do you find that they don’t do everything that is expected of them, when once they did? Do feel like there is a lot of chatter behind the scenes? Is there a high rate of workplace injury? Are members of the team not pulling their weight? Is employee turnover high? Or do you find it difficult to keep talented staff and the good ones always seem to leave? These are all symptoms of bigger problems. Now these problems aren’t always easily identified and will vary from workplace to workplace. The issues could be anything from a bad apple spoiling the culture, the team being overworked or rosters not manned correctly for the needs of the business (in retail for example, think short staffed in busy times, over staffed in quiet times) or even just not enough people to cover the business if someone is sick. And there are so many more examples. But if any of these are present in your business, then you potentially have an issue on your hands. As leaders of our organisations and businesses, it is our duty, our responsibility, to ensure our team are well looked after and their needs are met. So now you’re going to ask how on earth do I find out what the problems are and rectify them? Well it’s actually really easy. An open, transparent, conversation can lead to all sorts of insights into your employee, your team dynamic, and ultimately the future growth of your business. If you can cultivate great relationships with your employees, and make it feel like they are a necessary and integral part of your business, which they are, then you will find these issues start to slowly dissipate. If we can make them feel appreciated, needed, wanted, then their output, efficiency and care will skyrocket. And so will your business.

01.01.2022 We all know the feeling... The kids are sick and you’ve been up all night, you’re a little under the weather yourself and you just wake up not feeling 100%. Then there’s that slight little nagging little headache Just ticking away And you just know, it’s gonna turn into a full blown migraine by the end of the day Well that’s the day I’ve been having. Tuesdays are an early start for me and oftentimes a later finish. So it’s important for me to make sure that I am on... my game on a Tuesday. I need to be upbeat, energetic and motivated! That’s what my clients expect and deserve! So the battle I’ve been fighting today is one of motivation, and energy. So how do I raise my energy, and how do I increase my motivation? Well there’s a fair few things you can do, but here are a few that I used today 1. Change myself talk from I have to, to I get to. For example, if I am struggling for motivation to exercise then instead of my self talk being I have to go to the gym, changing the phrase to I get to go to the gym changes my feelings towards the activity. 2. The two minute rule. I tell myself that I only need to achieve two minutes of the task in front of me. Sometimes I’ll even set a timer. Then at the end of two minutes, I have normally achieved something. And because I have started something and taken action, it is far easier to stay the course and continue on. 3. Separate myself from whatever it is I am trying to do. And I’m not talking some meditation or anything, I’m talking about physically get up from your desk, go outside, get some sunshine and some fresh air and take a few deep breaths! It’s amazing what a little fresh air and some sun can do. 4. And lastly, I like to set my intention. What I mean by this, is that I make a conscious decision about the one thing I’m going to achieve next, who I want to be while doing it and the purpose behind it. And that is it. If I am in service of something or someone greater than myself, then moving forward and taking action is far less difficult. What works for you when you need to raise your energy and motivation levels?? See more
