25.01.2022 John Holland Rail has sent the Michelago Region Community Association a list of questions on the Michelago railway bridge.They are working with Heritage NSW on a strategy for heritage listed bridges like ours and Brebo's.They want the community's input by 15 May. If you would like to be consulted please message Kerry Rooney and include your email address. I will send you a draft submission for your comment. Note the submission has not yet been considered by the MRCA committee.

18.01.2022 Our Christmas Raffle tickets are now on sale at the Michelago General Store. This raffle is a joint fundraiser for the MRCA and Michelago RFS. We have some fantastic prizes on offer, a big thank you to our raffle sponsors, stay tuned for individual sponsor posts over the coming weeks. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. The raffle will be drawn on Friday 18 December 2020 just in time to provide any week before Christmas presents or a Christmas ham for the table!

15.01.2022 A big thank you to William Kelly from Combined Rural Services for donating the labour and chemical to spray the love grass at the Michelago Railway Station. This is a big job ticked off the to do list! Stay tuned for further projects at the station that we would love the community to get involved with!

15.01.2022 This is the Michelago Cup 1939. We don't know the purpose of the Cup. Can anyone help us? At the time the popular sports in Michelago were tennis, cricket and horse racing. Some Rubgy League was also played.

14.01.2022 Community work continues at the Railway Station. We would like to thank Robert Bouma, a local tree surgeon who cut down the box elder on Friday. Also thank you to Tony Robinson who assisted him. What a great team of helpers we have!



13.01.2022 POP-UP POLICING, SATURDAY 6TH JUNE 2020 Michelago & Bredbo Areas On Saturday, 6th June 2020 police from Monaro PD will be attending the Michelago and Bredbo a...reas to engagement with the community, answer questions and discuss policing in the area. In attendance will be the Michelago Police Station Lock-up keeper - Senior Constable Hitchcock; Monaro PD Aged Crime Prevention Officer - Senior Constable Fookes; and Officer-in-charge of Queanbeyan Police Station (which includes Michelago) Inspector Hutchins. We will be in attendance at the following locations: 9.00am to 11.00am Ryrie Street, in the vicinity of Michelago General Store 12.00pm to 2.00pm Monaro Highway, outside the Bredbo Pie Shop, 31 Cooma Street, Bredbo What is community engagement ? Community engagement is a long-term process through which we try to involve people - individuals or groups - in identifying problems and shaping and implementing decisions and programs that affect them. 10.01.2022 Another big thank you is in order. Tony Campbell spent his Sunday morning excavating the old garden beds at the Railway Station. Removing the root base of the box elder proved challenging. What a fabulous community we have, including Tony Robinson who once again attended. Please pencil in Sunday 2 August for a working bee / sausage sizzle. Catch up with old friends. 08.01.2022 Ingelara Rail Bridge: Does anyone have views on the protection of the heritage listed Ingelara bridge? John Holland is consulting about this bridge's future, not the bridge over Micalago Road. However we will still be providing a submission on our bridge.

06.01.2022 Did you know that the historic Michelago Railway Station was threatened with demolition in 1980? The ACT Division of the Australian Railway Historical Society stepped in and negotiated a lease over the Station and commenced a program of restoration. The photos show members painting the building in July 1982. The brickwork was painted mint green and the window arches dark green. The Cooma Monaro Express was still running.

05.01.2022 Two masterplans are in the works for the rural NSW village of Michelago. The Snowy Monaro Regional Council says it will work with the community on what future ...development of the village will look like, while developer Geocon has met with locals to discuss its expansion plans. But some locals are worried about what it means for the area.

03.01.2022 Another great community gardening bee at the historic Michelago Railway Station happened today. A big thank you to Di, Catherine, Nathan, Lou, Marcus, Julie, Leanne, Ben, Isabelle, Sally, Martin, John and Kerry. Our youngest helper Archie, a preschooler, was supported by bigger siblings Bailey, Imogen, Tilly and Bridie. Trailer loads of green waste and rubble were removed. Many sausage sandwiches were eaten. 02.01.2022 On 21 May, Snowy Monaro Regional Council voted unanimously in favour of building a causeway over Michelago Creek. The Council is now looking for funding of $700,000 for the work. Full article in today's Monaro Post.
