24.01.2022 Every now and then I have a portrait session where everything just goes right - the light is amazing, the colours are vibrant, the temperature is perfect, even the wind blows the right way. When that happens AND you get a family who is relaxed and genuine in front of the camera, good things happen

24.01.2022 There’s a franticness that surrounds a photo shoot with 2 boys under 3...but that’s what makes the tiny moments so amazing to capture. These little fellas were constantly on the move, exploring, running, climbing and just generally having fun and as a result, the images are genuine and vibrant. I love portrait sessions like this one

23.01.2022 We were supposed to get rain, hail and thunderstorms - instead we got beautiful light, an eerie calmness and a park all to ourselves. Families are meant to love each other but this crew were on another level. They were best friends, they made each other laugh and it was such a lovely thing to witness.

Capturing a microsecond where a child pauses and fully engages with you amid all the chaos that comes with a family portrait session is becoming an obsession and I'm loving it. And it certainly doesn't hurt when the subject matter is as cute as these little ones :-)

22.01.2022 These little characters are a great example of why I often use similar camera settings to photograph both children’s portraits and elite sports - things can change in milliseconds!!! The look on this little girl’s face in the second frame speaks volumes...and I can’t stop laughing

17.01.2022 Long lenses are the perfect tool for social-distancing portraits and the colours at this time of year are just too beautiful to ignore. The workhorse in my camera kit, the Canon 70-200mm f2.8, is one of my absolute go-to lenses for so many occasions but especially for portraits. If you’re using this time to re-brand or revamp your website, why not think about making the most of autumn to refresh your image library, just like the lovely Olivia Iacono OBM did yesterday

16.01.2022 The third of four families from my mini-portrait session at Fairfield Boathouse last weekend loved exploring and brought all the excitement you would expect from a household with 3 boys under 6. Their energy was infectious and they loved feeding the ducks and climbing the stone walls. A beautiful family with so many great smiles x

15.01.2022 Golden Hour is the Holy Grail for photographers, late in the day when the sun is softest and the light is perfect. For yesterday’s portrait session, we were blessed with the most amazing light. Given the forecast was originally for 10-20mm of rain, we just had to keep pinching ourselves with how lucky we were for a winter shoot! Add to that a gorgeous family and you have a whole heap of images that just radiate happiness
