This is so common as we all are worried about Not Fitting in and maybe being a bit different from your peers, Family members, teachers, coaches, the list could go on and on. 20.01.2022 Photos speak louder than words! Ever looked at a photo and gone OMG... And then think to yourself, I need to change, I need to loose weight, I look disgusting, I feel gross, I am this, I am that.. To Be Honest, when I took this photo on the left, I never really thought about how I looked, it was more about this is to remind me of my own transformation.. This was the last day of September 2017, I was off crutches however I feeling very blah about life. ... Photo of the right- Yesterday when I was coming home from my wee jog. Up until last year I never had body issues, never had the experience of putting on jeans and they don’t fit and then all the other negative thoughts and beliefs. Here is a bit of an idea of what I have done over the past few months to conquer those negative thoughts and to get myself back to where I can look in the mirror and feel confident. First of all I set myself a goal, the goal is quite ridiculous to be honest and something I have kept to myself, (besides a few people that are in my corner to support me to get me to where I need to be) This goal is purely my motivation to teach people that you can do all that is asked of you, accept what has happened and just do what you can within your limitations. (My goal will be revealed in a few weeks time) Second I changed my diet, No Gluten, No Wheat, No Dairy and No Red Meat. What do I eat- Fresh Food and Fish. Still eat chocolate (just choose wisely) And One cheat meal a week along with 1-2 glasses of wine. Oh and cut out coffee, gone from daily to 3 a week. Oh I appreciate my coffee so much more now. Third- My Mindset- Learning to accept where I am right now and not worrying about where I was etc. Appreciation of what I can do, not what I can no longer do. Four- This should be number one really. Ensuring I had the right people in my corner, supporting me and believing in me and having my back for those days that my head is not in the right place. (We All have those days) Five - Believe wholeheartedly in what I do. Life can certainly be a B-Arch, we can all just sit, blame and make excuses or we can grow and transform ourselves to be the best version of ourselves. 14.01.2022 B R E A K F A S T Our most important meal of the day, however I his meal is missed a lot because of laziness, time, the old ‘I am not hungry’ and the big ‘I am so confused on what to eat, it’s all to hard.....coffee’ This may look a bit odd as a breakfast meal, however it is quick easy, nutritious and so bloody yum in my belly oh and keeps me going for hours! ... Here is my simple and delicious breakfast and why I choose to get these yumbo foods in my belly at least 4 mornings a week, on the other days it is a smoothie or homemade cereal Why do I choose to eat these foods in the morning. Because I train in the morning before breakfast and I want to get some good fibre, fats and carbs in my belly that will keep me going for a few hours after my training session and to support my recovery. This may look like hard work, let me tell you it’s bloody quick and easy to make this breakfast. 5 -10 minutes is all you need (if you have your vegetables prepared) Heat some coconut oil in a pan and allow to heat Add in roast vegetables (I use pumpkin, sweet potato, zucchini and mushrooms ) Allow to heat, add in spinach and kale sauté add Himalayan rock salt and black pepper to taste. Remove and place in bowl. In another bowl, mash avocado with some feta, mint and lime juice (fresh) Cut up some mango and fresh parsley Add mango to your vegetables along with a handful of pumpkin seeds, a few cashews and finish off with a dallop of Avocado and parsley. This entire process took my less than 10 minutes to whip up. Breakfast = Break The Fast! Super important to get some good quality food into your belly before you start your day, once you start to eat in the morning one of the biggest benefits will be your energy levels which will make you have a better day plus many more rewarding benefits to your body, mind and soul! My stomach is rumbling, which means it’s time to Break The Fast! 13.01.2022 #TBT My heavy arse Ironman Busso medal Never in a million years did I think that I would ever have One if these suckers.. Didn’t even know what ironman was until a few years ago as I could never see myself ever doing a triathlon... It is amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to something and have the right people in your corner to support you to get the job done! ... How many times have you heard yourself say One day I will do that If you want to accomplish, achieve, succeed at something, you know you can right?! First you need to decide what it is that you want to do, then write it down, work out how, when and where and make sure you know your WHY! Why do you want to succeed at..... Why do you need to get to that place..... Why Why. Why Once you have your WHY things will happen to ensure you reach your W.H.Y Success doesn’t happen over night, just because you have had a crap day does not mean that you give up, goals are not reached by blaming others or things or by giving up after one day, week or even year. A few little tips that may get you to achieve something that you may never thought you could or would ever do: Be Brave while being Bold Smile while you Excel Shine Gracefully And Practice with your WHY! W- Work H- Hard Y-Yearly It saddens me when people start something and then give up because they lose their WHY WHY give up WHY let others shine WHY come up with excuses WHY sit back and Blame Throughout my journey to get this medal I could of easily thrown in the towel before I even got to the start line, then on the day I could have gone this is to hard, it was cold, wet and windy and bloody crazy! However I have a medal and a towel to go with it and I learnt so much on that crazy journey. 13.01.2022 12 months ago this weekend was my last triathlon and who would of thought we were in for one Hell of a ride.. from that weekend on... 6 and 12 months later I feel I am on the road to enjoying a sport that has taught me so much and still has a lot to teach me. There were talks of Felix (My TT bike) and breaking up ... There were talks that I may never be able to complete a triathlon again However, I set a goal 16 weeks ago, that if I cannot be at Harvey Bay to redeem a shocker of a day last year, then Felix and I will be on the road to start something that we need to conquer next year! This morning we hit the road... We experienced everything Windy AF Rain Sun Humid AF However I am smiling and happy as a little in A BIG Thank you to a few people that have got me back on the road (Felix has had a wee make over) BIG Thank you to some special faces that continue to support me in what it is I choose to do And a BIG x millions Thank You to my #1 Darrell Lawrie (wouldn’t be out here smiling like a in if it wasn’t for you) I have a loooooong and I mean a loooong way to go.. 12.01.2022 JUMP and CELEBRATE It’s 12 weeks since I got some more bolts! Celebrating that i am through this stage of my recovery is very important. ... It’s like when you buy a home, especially your first home, celebrate with pride. It doesn’t matter what you do and how you do it, just celebrate! WHY- It helps to develop a successful mindset. When you want to achieve something, believing you are going to be successful lies in the heart of it. It is like anything, to develop your successful mindset is a skill. Visualisation and affirmations are also very important when it comes to success, however celebrating your success or accomplishment is so important for a successful mindset. So today I jumped like a girl that was jumping for her country, I have visualised myself jumping like this for a few weeks now. I jumped like a kid in a candy store followed by a beautiful swim to cool off. (Playful swim, no laps) Goal setting is great, along with visualisation, affirmations, now add celebrations to your list! When are you celebrating next and what will you be celebrating? 10.01.2022 K I C K I N G We all take for granted that we can walk, run, kick a ball, and kick in the water.. This simple little task was taken away from me in December and as I was just about to get some good momentum happening, it was taken away from me again... The hardest part of all this- I have no feeling in my butt, hamstrings and parts of my pelvic floor (fingers crossed some feeling will be back over the next few weeks) I have been trying to kick for the past two weeks in ...the water And today I got to the end and back and again x a few laps Moral of the story- Don't take things for granted and appreciate what you can do, not what you cannot do! 10.01.2022 APPLE C I D E R VINEGAR Today is the day. I have drawn a line in the sand and I am starting off fresh with some serious goals. September was a wonderful month, however my poor liver got a workout an a half!... I have set myself a goal for early next year and to achieve this goal, I need to not only take care of my bolts, I must take care of my inner health. Inner health is something that controls our mindset, energy levels, hormones, weight and of course that smile on our face. So today I have started with a few big changes- 1- No coffee first thing in the morning, 1 coffee per day and some days None 2- No Alcohol 3- No Dairy 4- Nothing out of a packet And for my mental health 5- Back to journaling everyday This morning I got up and had a nice big glass of lemon with this stuff.. ACV... so so gross however, so so good for your gut health, you can use it as a dressing on your salads as well if you like. We have 3 months left till we wave good bye to 2017, October is always a great month to look at where you are right now and what you need to add or delete in your dairy life to give yourself a smile on your face as we head into 2018. 10.01.2022 Happy 1st Birthday to my Left Bolts 52 weeks ago today I received 3 You Beaut Bolts We have been on one hell of a ride, who would of thought that you would have 3 besties in your opposite hip a few months later. ... Ahhh I could go on about how the past 12 months have been, the good, the bad and the ugly, at the end of the day let’s look at the learnings and how grateful I am to be doing what I am doing 12 months on. One of the toughest things to deal with was the fact ‘I couldn’t do anything’ Spending over 6 months on crutches over the past 12 months meant I had to let go and ask for help. All my life I would be the one outside playing, or in the kitchen cooking, probably being a pain in the arse as I never sat still for 5 minutes sport and food have been a part of my life for years, and when you loose your independence it really makes you look at life, it is like taking a kid to a candy store and saying No you can not have candy. The lessons I have learnt over the last 52 weeks have been life changing from friendships to inner health, to patience and the big one, learning to ask for help! Ensuring I set daily goals for myself which then have supported me to achieve bigger goals has been a huge part of my recovery. Even when I was on crutches, everyday I had to do something, might be so simple like chopping up vegetables, folding the washing, washing my hair, going outside for a walk or heading to the pool for a swim. Before my second hip operation I set myself a goal for 2018. That goal is in the making for me to accomplish in 2018, so Watch This Space... Goal setting is extremely powerful, they don’t need to be massive at the start they must be your goals and inline with who you are and what you are able to do. Oh another big learning, was to let go of my Ego.. Yep we all have it, I no longer have the power or the speed that I once had. I had to accept this is the new me, and allow the right people to support me and I had to take the trust in them to get me to where I want to be. 08.01.2022 This guy- Our Carter boy 15 years old, full of attitude, however he teaches us so much and gives us so much without even knowing it. Every morning he gets up and lies on this green mate and checks himself out.. so funny. However it made me think this morning. Goodness, I never really stand , sit or lie and look in the mirror like that.. So it got my mind ticking and I had to ask myself that 3 letter W word... WHY... I guess because for the past few months all I could see where these big huge arse watermelon hips and a bloated belly staring at me and I just didn’t want to look and accept that this was the case. I was looking at my faults, not at the positive.. Positives- I have 2 legs that are starting to take me places and over the next few months will assist me in accomplishing and achieving some goals. I have 2 strong arms and a healthy heart that will take me places I have good skin that will continue to protect me My eyes are smiling are starting to smile on a Daily Basis I am sure if I asked ‘my tribe’ they will say a few other things that I don’t even realise. It’s amazing how we see ourselves and how others see us. Anyways, that’s my thought of this second day of November 2017 (yikes) Now go and find a mirror and look at all of the positives, they are there! #smileshineexcel ML x

08.01.2022 V A L U E S This week has been quite big so far and a few things were not following so well and kind of pissing me off, so I took a look at my Life’s Values. Something that many of us don’t do enough of.. So I made a nice iced chai and re-did my values as my values have changed over the past few months. ... Since I sat and did my New values late yesterday, things have changed, I have let go of some of the Bullshit and my focus is now so much clearer. I had the best sleep last night knowing my daily values are now in line with me, myself and I. Values are something that we should all be aware of to support ourselves to ensure we have the right standards and principles in our lives. Have you ever thought and looked at what your values are? If your not sure how or where to start, all you need is a pen, paper, a nice comfortable seat, maybe a coffee or tea and ask yourself what behaviours do you value in your life? 06.01.2022 You know that feeling of putting on a pair of jeans and they cannot get over your hips For th first time in my life I have experienced this since my first hip surgery in December 2016, I was so close to getting these suckers on then more freaking hip surgery, more bolts, more inflammation! Enough was enough, so over the past 3 weeks I have really cleaned up my food ( September was all about food, alcohol and what ever else I could get in my mouth) I was in a deep dark hole ...by the end of September and I knew I need to pull my head out of my arse, stop abusing my body with food, and negative thoughts, my inflammation was massive, I felt like I had two massive watermelons sitting on each hip.. On the 2nd of October I drew a big arse line in the sand and I took control, and I choose to change my habits and today I can see one massive result already Here is what I did and these are the changes I have experienced to date. Cut our Red meat (so bad for my inflammation and gut health) Ate Vegetables and or fruit (both of these are fresh not frozen) 5x a day 3-4 litres of water (never weee’d so much in my life) Protein and good fat with every meal Cut out Alcohol Cut down on coffees (this was the hardest, I am down to 3 a week) Cut out dairy Bread once a week only and it’s fresh rye sourdough or Fresh GF (gluten free) Made fresh. Made a green smoothie every single day Set some serious goals Walked away from people that pulled me down, didn’t have my back, their actions spoke louder than their words, basically F’ked with my head. ( I am a sensitive soul) Kept a journal and wrote in it every single day Have done some sort of physical activity minimum 45 minutes 6 days a week Gave myself rewards each week (eg- Piece of chocolate, burger and chips, a massage etc) Changes are I am getting my belief, mojo back I have a lot more energy My inflammation has gone down sooo much I am smiling daily I am shining more each day I can see myself excelling and achieve what I want and need to achieve. And I can fit my Jeans Yewwww When you are a person that likes to do ‘stuff’ and that is taken away from you, getting back on the track is extremely tough. We have a choice, and on the 2nd October I made up my mind to Change... And here I am today wearing my favourite pair of jeans for the first time since December 2016. Start off slowly, be patient (the hardest one) Ask for help if needed! If I can change, you can as well.. Come and jump on this path to being a Fearless Warrior with me, it has been life changing! 04.01.2022 The G O O D, The B A D , The U G L Y Days/ Yep- we have all experienced these days!! The Good Days - You know those days where life is like your floating on a cloud, your smiling from ear to ear, life is like candy at that particular moment it is so sweet. ... Yep, these are the Good days. Then there are those days that you wake up late, you seem to be running around like a head less goose, chasing your tail all day, one minutes rolls into an hour and you just want the day to end as it did not go to plan, not many smiles today. Yep, these are the Bad days. Then we all have those days where we want to curl up in a ball, hide from the world, disappear and tell that voice inside of you to shut UP.. You may cry, you may want to punch the beejesus out of a punching bag or sit on the couch with chocolate, wine and your BFF with a huge box of tissues. You know those days... Yep, these are the Ugly days. Here is the thing- we all have them, some experience bad or ugly days more than good days and sometimes we experience good days for so long that one those bad or ugly days come we wonder what the hell is happening.. The hardest part is accepting the bad and ugly dark days and knowing how to cope and also knowing your not the only one that have these days. The ones that looks the strongest on the outside are quite often the ones that have had many dark ugly days, they just know how to wear their mask on point and/or know how to accept and deal with these yuck days. As we get older, especially us females, we can experience these dark days and feel out of control, they seem to roll into another one after another one, we need to learn how to break the cycle. You understand that it's ok to cry, it's normal to feel yuck, we just don't want to feel yuck all of the time. Here is what I do when I am in a dark moment (Have had a few of these suckers over he past few months) **Do something to get me out of the house **Set yourself some daily tasks and make sure you tick them off one by one and at the end of the day- Booyah!! You have accomplished everything that you had set out to do. ** Call your tribe, make sure you laugh with them, cry or vent, and talk about whatever you want/wish to talk about. **Journal- Writing stuff down/writing stuff out. **Break the cycle- Go and do something that you don't normally do- it could be as simple as going to sit by the water, talk to a stranger, smile at the person in front of you in the supermarket lane. Breaking the cycle is so important, however, your not along when you have bad or ugly days. Make note when you have a you beaut day.. Write down what you did, how your feeling and how freaking Awesome you are!! Remember we all have good days, we have bad days and we all have ugly days. Ensure you have the right support around you (your tribe) as your never ever alone! Take care out there and Keep Smiling! M x

02.01.2022 What is your word or words for 2018? Last year I went into 2017 with a headspace of WTF, so many changes with not a lot of direction. I knew what I wanted to do, however I was so lost. Looking back my words were not the best, even if I was speaking positively, deep down I was a bit blah. ... I finally found my word or should I say words at the end of 2017. My word/s change depending on what I am doing for example - Exercise- Accept Business - Passion Family- Love Me- Complete What are your words or what is your word for 2018, it is amazing how powerful a word or words can BE. Just imagine if these words where suck, Hate, Ugly etc, where would your headspace be, what sort of day, week or year would you have? Find your word/s that is best suited to you, (positive words) Believe in the word wholeheartedly, take that word with you everywhere you go and see how you can make this year and the rest of your years so much brighter Happy NEW Year and I wish each of you a year of Smiles while shining like a star and Excelling like a rocket ML x
