23.01.2022 Yesterday I was announced as one of the 20 Future Leaders of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand by Acuity Magazine. What an honour to be named alongside 19 other CAs from around the world. Being recognised as leader of my industry, is certainly some thing I did not dream of when I was studying to be a CA all those years ago! But what a fantastic way to round out 2020. ... Here is the article written about me in this month's magazine (I can't wait to see it in print!) ================================ Michelle Maynard CA Career role: Partner, Carbon Group, Perth Other roles: President, Ballajura Primary School Parents P&C; Board member, Ballajura Primary School Age: 35 "If I can help educate people, then I will have made a contribution."Michelle Maynard CA, Partner, Carbon Group, Perth. The media profile of accountants has traditionally been older, white and predominantly male. Michelle Maynard CA aimed to change that when she joined Carbon Group. "I had no profile, no network, no brand and no clients," she says. Maynard realised people wanted to deal with accountants they knew and trusted so she set about building a brand as a young, female, approachable and down-to-earth accountant someone people could trust, and media could rely on for solid commentary and advice. Since then, she has become the go-to accountant for Western Australian media and has the position of in-house finance expert for 9 News Perth. "I have positioned myself as someone who is young yet is trusted to deliver advice," says Maynard, who believes she can make the world a better place by helping people understand finance. "So many people start businesses and don't understand the business side," she says. "This can have massive ramifications on their work and personal life. If I can break things down, present them in layman's terms and help educate people, then I will have made a contribution

14.01.2022 #Jobkeeper - to receive Jobkeeper from January to March, you need to retest based on your December quarter figures and then enrol before the end of January. Confused on how to do this? 10.01.2022 Studies show Australian's waste, on average, $740 a year on gym membership that they don't use. But where else are we wasting money? Do we even know? When was the last time you looked at your bank statements and checked what was coming from your bank account? With a set and forget, or tap and go, mindset to spending money - there are so many ways small leaks could end up to a big loss. 02.01.2022 3 years ago today I start my business journey with Carbon as a Partner. It has been the most incredible ride of my life. Some downs, but mainly this ever upward path of highs. I have grown more in these 3 years than the 32 years I lived before then. Business owner life will do that to you. Reveal your strengths and your weaknesses in ways you never thought, constantly forcing you to reassess, grown and evolve. ... I truly love it. To my core. Mostly I love the people. My business partners, my staff, my fellow carbonites, my clients, and the people I meet along the way. Thank you to: - my team at Carbon - my family - the clients who trust me to guide them and work with them in their businesses - the media who ask me to share my opinions and give my expert advice - the people and friends I have made along the way It just shows, what a lot of hard work and having a team behind you can help you achieve. Here's to many, many more years (and photo collages)
