18.01.2022 Meet our Musical Director! Michelle Nightingale is a professional singer, actor and voice over artist. She started singing in choirs at the age of 14yrs with T...he Salvation Army and then went onto become a member and soloist of the Senior Music Branch Choir. She continued singing in Kind of Blue Jazz Choir whilst studying voice at the Elder Conservatorium. Michelle has been a tutor with the Australian Youth Choir and the Australian Girls Choir before starting her own family but in the last five years has taken on the role of Musical Director/Choir Master of the Birds of a Feather Community Choir in the Adelaide Hills. "I am so excited about the launch of the Adelaide Hills Youth Choir, especially to nurture young people in the joy of singing, teaching them about the capabilities of their voices and their talent, in a way where they can share in the fun and accomplishments with other like-minded people." Since then we have produced seven plays including two remounts, have worked with over a hundred student actors, have received countless glowing reviews, worked with industry professionals as guest facilitators and have been nominated by the Adelaide Theatre Guide for Best Show - Youth Theatre. Plus one of our actors won the 2019 Best Male Young Performer Award, and one has been accepted into Flinders Drama Centre for 2020! Its been a wonderful ride, and we are only getting stronger. 13.01.2022 I am about to embark on walking 75kms over 10 days to raise funds for SAHRMI, so they can continue their invaluable research into finding treatments, cures and purchasing equipment to aid the greater population. To do this I will be singing at the Stirling Golf Club on Friday December 4th between 7pm - 8:30pm, feel free to come along and enjoy the atmosphere, scenery and music and if you are enjoying the evening it would be lovely if you could make a donation towards the SAHM...RI Bright Walk. 07.01.2022 Here some information about the auditions for AHYC on Wednesday January 29, 2020. Bookings can be made at www.trybooking.com/BHBXZ. The reason for the audition ...process is to instil a sense of preparation and practice which is key to being a part of a choir or any team. The auditions will be held in small groups of five, each person will prepare an easy song (Row, row, row your boat) and then the group will sing together, where they can support and encourage each other. Older age groups will possibly sing individually to check vocal range. This will allow the tutors to ensure they are providing the correct support and learning experience that all young voices require. This may seem scary for some young people but this will be a safe, supportive and encouraging environment.
