25.01.2022 Okay, the Liberal Government have managed to make this murkier. What are they planning? We can not undermine our volunteer rural brigades. We rely on them. Now more than ever.... #HandsOffOurFiries. #supportvolunteerbrigades
25.01.2022 ‘Oh Richie, you’re so fine You’re so fine you blow my mind Hey Richie’ You know you sang the last line in in your head.... and probably clapped.....well done Richie Porte!
22.01.2022 Congratulations to Three River Theatre, Launceston for this witty and confronting production of Gloria. Go and see it this week. Some fabulous writing and performances.

22.01.2022 Yesterday I joined my Parliamentary colleagues and spoke at for an event to celebrate Football Tasmania players and administrators. With a global appeal like no other sport, football, or soccer, also has a powerful ability to bring people together from different backgrounds and cultures, which is particularly important in helping migrants to Tasmania connect with the broader community. The exciting possibility of 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup games and training camps taking pl...ace in Launceston will no doubt provide a huge boost for football in Bass and Tasmania as a whole. It was great to catch up with Tony Pearce, President at Launceston United SC and talk all things football.

21.01.2022 Labor’s plan for jobs will make sure more Tasmanians can get into work and stay in work. Read our Plan http://taslabor.com//Labors-Plan-for-Jobs-Working-for-Tasm
20.01.2022 We need to rebuild TAFE, not destroy it. Under Labor, TAFE will be better staffed, more relevant to industry, and training will be delivered where and how people need it. We’ll get TAFE working for Tasmanians ... Read our plan for Tafe http://taslabor.com//Labors-Plan-for-Jobs-Working-for-Tasm
20.01.2022 End of an era in Launceston today. Pretty sure I was the last customer today at the Caltex on Charles Street. After 28 years it’s so sad to farewell the excellent service always provided here. Dropped off a small donation for their last knock off drinks. Will miss the whole team - thanks for the great service and chats over the years.
18.01.2022 It’s game day! #womensport like sport only better.... GAME DAY Remember if you can’t be at the game today, tune in to Talking Sport Tasmania from 2:30pm to catch all of the action live from the Silverdome.
18.01.2022 We’re so very grateful to everyone who came out earlier tonight to join in the candlelight vigil to remember lives lost to domestic violence, and to recognise t...he courage and resilience of survivors in our communities. Representatives from a host of local services and organisations (that assist families affected by gendered violence) gathered with members of the public & local Council to hear personal stories and information from Chris (Yemaya Women’s Services), Jackie (Reclaim The Night Launceston) and long time supporter of our local Women’s Services, Michelle O’Byrne. A minute silence was observed, the only sound being the splashing of the fountain behind us until a lone piper stepped from the darkness to play Amazing Grace; the tune carrying across the chill night air, the stirring strains of the well known spiritual enveloping the gathered crowd. Just beautiful. We would like to sincerely thank Gaynor from St Andrews Caledonian Pipe Band for providing us with such a beautiful end to our vigil, and to everyone who came along to join in; it was wonderful to see people chatting and sharing space with each other for quite a while afterward. For a short time tonight we collectively lit the darkness with our shared hope for a future where we can all be safe and supported, and free from fear. The Yemaya Team.
18.01.2022 Ruth Bader Ginsburg. To be honest I thought she would live forever. We may never know her like again. Take a moment to read her achievements. Vale RBG. I am so sad you are gone. https://achievement.org/achiever/ruth-bader-ginsburg/
17.01.2022 And on a lighter note it’s #dogsinpolitics day. I call this ‘She’s home! Now she’s talking about her week....’
16.01.2022 The 28 September is International Safe Abortion Day, a global day of action for safe and legal abortion. In Tasmania, we have some of the best legal access to abortions in the world. However, the barriers that are put in place make it hard to afford or access are insurmountable for some women. We need safe and accessible abortions for women in Tasmania.... #AbortionIsHealthcare #28Sept #Sept28 #InternationalSafeAbortionDay
16.01.2022 The Mount Barrow Challange has now run for more than 10 years by Fit 'n' Kicking. This annual event sees participants walking, running or a combination of both to combat Mount Barrow. A huge thanks to everyone involved and congratulations in fundraising $3880, which will go towards the much deserving New Horizons Tasmania.
14.01.2022 It’s a great honour and a privilege to have this role. I do not take it for granted and will work hard for this community. My home and my heart is here. Thankyou all xx
14.01.2022 Congratulations to Ros, the newest Life Member of Starting Point NH and thank you so much for letting me chair the AGM. Always great to share the wonderful community stories and oh the Pav is pretty special too....
14.01.2022 Women have borne the brunt of the impact of CoVid. To date our governments responses have been ‘high vis but low vision’. Proud to be part of a Labor team that recognises the need to understand the inequity and commits to structural reform. #emilyslistaus #alwayslabor
14.01.2022 Some of my favourite humans donate their time to this strong and fabulous community.

11.01.2022 UPDATE The 14 day restriction has now been removed. Hopefully the 7 day rule will now pick everyone up. If you are travelling in the next few days and have neither your original exemption or your denied exemption then they are working to fix it. ... https://www.themercury.com.au//79c1e6f895a75a793e7517a233c Today in parliament we raised the issue of FIFO workers who were told they could return home only to discover they were ineligible under the exemptions. Thanks to those who have reached out about the 14 day swing requirement. The Premier has committed to find out what advice is there and said it was to ensure that those who may work in Sydney for a couple of days would not get picked up in the exemption but he would look at the issue. I want to send some actual examples off shorter rosters and of those of you who have worked away for longer during CoVid but been assessed on your ‘normal’ roster through to him. I have a couple but would like to ensure he has the full picture. May I ask you send through some? My email is [email protected]
10.01.2022 Another weekend and another strong feminist warrior is lost to us. Vale Susan Ryan. Your legacy is our strength.
10.01.2022 Don’t let the govt remove these important services on Maria Island or detract from the management and care role of PWS officers! #KeepMariaStaffed
09.01.2022 The Minister should have ruled this out. Our rural brigades are vital to ensure our bushfire preparedness and response.
08.01.2022 Labor’s newest member as of 1:18 pm today. Welcome Tali! #PartyLikeGillardIsStillPM
08.01.2022 The allegations about Adam Brooks should and I understand will be investigated. That will now take its course. However its the initial response by the Premier I wish to highlight. He is the Minister for Prevention of Family Violence. He should be well briefed on matters of coercion, control and respect. He has spoken in response to the March4Women. It appears his concern for women is only when it is politically expedient. The allegations were concerning and should have been treated as such. He should be well aware that allegations of deceiving women in order to maintain a dishonest ‘relationship’ is not only disrespectful but coercive and dangerous. He would know it is anything but a ‘lovelife’.
