16.01.2022 Developing friendships and Learning boundaries!

16.01.2022 June 8th was world ocean day. We did our bit by learning how to look after the ocean and remove any rubbish from the water or sand. We read lots of books about the ocean and its animals. I showed the children a video of a hermit crab in its shell that Jason found when when were in Fiji. I asked them if they had ever found a shell at the beach with a hermit crab? We did ocean puzzles, threading, stickers, masks, sung 3 jelly fish.

15.01.2022 Some excellent scissors skills displayed by Miss A, Miss S & Miss M. They cut out pirate masks all by themselves (with me doing the eye hole).

14.01.2022 Thank you to everyone for joining us on our first ever Easter party! We usually just do something special at home, but this way everyone got to join in and join us at the park. Thank you to everyone for bringing a plate of food to share it made my job much easier. I hope everyone enjoyed it!

12.01.2022 I recently read a post about a staff member in a LDC kiss a child. There was a lot for and against, from parents saying it was wrong, unprofessional, high risk of passing germs etc! Then there was the opposite saying how lovely it was, what a special bond, shows they care etc. It stuck a cord we me because it made me think about my own practices. When you build a bond with a child I judge by what the child wants, some children want hugs and kisses, some want high fives, some ...want to kiss me and I let them I do try to encourage kiss on the cheek, forehead, hand, but sometimes they slip their affection on me. Some tell me they love me and I say it back to them, I let them lead the way and are here for whatever level of affection they want or need. Children will often show affection towards each other while in care they are really into saying goodbye and giving hugs at the moment. I think it is sad that in today society we as educators would be judged for showing affection towards someone child, what ever happened to it takes a village to raise a child. Why is it labeled wrong or creepy, are we truely living in a world that doesnt accept that some people need affection to feel safe. Some comments said you dont need to kiss a child to care for them This is true. However nothing comforts a child more then a cuddle, stoking hair, allowing them to just sit on you, and dare I say yes even a kiss!! As the bottom picture shows. I didnt quite know how to take the post from the mum who didnt know how to feel about the educator showing affection towards her child. So I put it to you my lovely people is it ok to offer affection to a child that needs it even if they are not your own? Whos permission should you ask the child? Or the parents? See more

11.01.2022 Eddie and Emma have returned our cheeky Elves! But it seems we have another visitor!!! Stitch oh what mischief will he get up to. For now he is being nice and has brought the family Christmas shirts and our Christmas movie count down list.

11.01.2022 Its a sad day when I finally have to get around to swapping photos in the photo figures to make space for new children in care. Evie my darling still lots of other photos around of you to remember you by and Evies mum I can no longer look at this photo a laugh to myself about Evie being so sure this was her mum when in fact it was just the photo that came with the frame! lol god love her. I do so miss my small little bunch of children I once when it was the same ones everyday. Now I have 10 spread over the week. Big changes. So fare well Evie and Evies mum lol. We had some good fun playing with you. Jax has made the cut so far as I have a bit of a girls club over here these days.

10.01.2022 I love this so much! I’ve had the joys and struggles over the years to have on average 1 out of every 2 children in care be strong willed. The strong willed children will definitely be the next generation of leaders and the more easy going relaxed children will be our generation of careers the ones who care for others before themselves. I’ve also had the pleasure of having more than one strong willed child together and that makes you wonder is that how war & peace plays out. Who will be the victor? Who will retreat? Raising children is a big job and if you make the right impression on these young minds they will remember it for years to come.

09.01.2022 Today got me like wash, sun, sanitise, repeat!!

08.01.2022 Just a reminder we are more than happy to take donations toys, puzzles, books that your child no longer plays with. Please ensure that they are still in good condition no missing or broken bits, they have to be safe for the children to play with. Thanks everyone.
