25.01.2022 It’s Pink Euodia (Melicope elleryana) flowering time So many bird and butterfly species love this fast growing rainforest tree for its nectar filled flowers including the White Throated Honeyeater pictured here. A few months on fruit doves and bowerbirds will be seeking out its small black fruit.

15.01.2022 Guess what I found in the forest in Tallebudgera this morningso excited as this is an endangered species, turns on an amazing display to try and look fierce to predators, do you know what it is? This little fella had many brothers and sisters on vines nearby (I counted 28 caterpillars of various instars). Getting a shot of mummy is going to my next big challenge!!

07.01.2022 One lovely day recently in this awesome (natures goin off!) season as I did my rounds of the rainforest restoration area I was amazed at the sight of hundreds of brilliant coloured Emperor Moth (Opodiphthera astrophela) caterpillars chomping away at a young Bumpy Ash (Flindersia schottiana), one of my prized plantings from six years ago. A day later all that was left was a very sad looking and naked tree.....but four weeks later.......Bumpy Ash is back and looking better tha...n ever with its fancy new growth, take a bow Bumpy!!!! And where did all those caterpillars go? A feast for other critters I’m sure. With loads of luck a few might have made it into their little transformation capsules......anyway....grubs will always chomp at plants, and that’s good......for life http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/sa/astrophela.html
