25.01.2022 #1. This past few months has been challenging trying to work around wet sites and rainy days but I have managed to get to the next stage of this project. I mentioned earlier this year I was working on a 140 year old house. The next stage was to construct the veranda’s front and back while maintaining air-conditioning units and switchboard. The staff at Bendigo Timber Products made the job flow so much easier with supply and delivery. Here are some of those progressive shots. ... #2. As summer approaches the construction of smaller veranda/porch to the back of a unit as there isn’t any protection in the hotter months. #3. Coming into Spring gardens come alive so these clients wanted garden beds to their specifications # 4. From time to time there maybe offcuts or recycled materials remaining. Clients come to me with their ideas may get me to construct items for indoor use or outdoor use. 1 Recycled verandah decking made into decorative screen. 2 Verandah post and rafter offcuts turned into a bench/seat with a coat of stain. 25.01.2022 As we draw closer to the end of the year there has been an increase of smaller jobs inbetween the major jobs. Here are a few photo's once again. #1. I am building a house within a shed at present, a great idea and every mans dream. The clients had the shed erected and concrete floor before I started. I have worked with the clients getting the frame installed and straighted. Hyspan ceiling joists throughout the residence and pine lining boards fixed below with the regency prof...ile facing downwards. Plumbing, electrical and plastering all taking place at present by contrctors. #2 Old damaged and weather beaten weatherboards at the rear of a 1960's style home, finally had their day. Replaced and painted just in time before this weekends bad weather. #3 Local Bendigo bussiness asked me to build a partition wall to create privacy for their clients. Job done after hours for less mess during their work hours. See more
24.01.2022 Here is a handful of progressive photos of recent jobs I have worked on lately from a range of smaller to larger jobs. #1 this job has been going for a while. The clients call me as the job progress's along. ..(a).The doors are being made on site with recycled timber. Once finished, the door is hung and door furniture installed....( b). I installed the kitchen cupboards once they arrived on site. After the tops were put on I tiled around the back with the owners creative des...ign. Electrical and Gas connections done by licenced contractors. (c) This is the open frame from a few months ago. Once I did the ceiling the plaster went in and I could finish the Mini Orb dado and fix out. #2 This was a storage container at a local Quarry. I converted it to a useable office. ( a) Once the container was emptied I framed the walls inside and lined with a MDF for a higher impact surface. (b) Walls insulated. (c) Painted and electrical fit off. #3 This bathroom the client was wanting me to tidy up what she didn't have the time to do. (a) Once the vinyl floor cover removed the Tiles could be cut and and laid. The hob was staightened and waterproofed. Walls and ceiling painted. New side screens from Instyle Doors and Screens installed. All done within her budget and time frame. #4 Extra shelving required. Once the cupboard was emptied, it didn't take long to fit new mellamine shelving. #5 Local bussiness had a break in so I installed a new Solidcore door while reusing the existing Lock. These jobs were all done to suit varying budgets. See more
23.01.2022 Give away. Kitchen cabinets only. Ideal for a shed or similar project. Timber doors some hardware needs replacing. Dismantled for pick up only. No appliances or sink, just the cabinetry. In box me.
23.01.2022 I get asked to do different stages of jobs, framing, fix out or both. Even boxing up a footpath and preparation. Coordination between trades is carefully done so too much time isn’t lost and the job run smoothly. Here are a few more pics of varying budgets. #1 This job, internal walls had to be relocated or modified. Most retro style homes have load bearing walls so this has to be taken into consideration. New lintels, props and bracing have to be installed before original wa...lls are moved. All these must comply with AS 1684 (Australian Standards). Once framing is complete, other trades can finish off their rough in. Joinery, painting and finishes by owners. #2 An extra bathroom required. Framed first followed by rough in by Plumbing and Electrical. Then lined with Villa board and stopped up. Painting, fit out and finishes by owners. Note: Plumbing and Electrical by registered trades. #3 Just a simple paving job. I boxed up the footpath and prepared the base after levels and widths have been established. Once the concreter places the concrete and finishes it off, it can be stripped. See more
22.01.2022 With the past few months work has presented a few challenges trying to work with restrictions and avoiding contact. Working around the site while the clients are there, I have managed to maintain a safe distance while providing a safe work site to avoid the spread of Coronavirus. Maintenance and repairs have taken place while there are less people around have made it ideal to stop the spread too. All jobs worked out well with varying budgets and ideas again. Here are a hand f...ull of progressive pics. #1. The front entrance and decking where added to this transportable home. Once on site the construction can take place. Landscaping to be done later. #2. A local laundry had a major leak in the wall behind the washing machines for some time judging by the damage I encountered. Once the machines were relocated, removing the damaged substrate and repairing the timber work is done. New substrate then Lamipanel to finish the job. #3. Extra room required at the local Tavern. Cutting the opening and trimming can be done first. Fitting the new counter and surround. Painting and floor covers to finish off. #4. The original driveway retaining wall had seen better days. New posts and treated pine sleepers give the driveway edge a neater look and diverts any cross flow water. #5. This house needed a back roof cover to protect the back door. The clients wanted Laserlite to give added light in their back room.
21.01.2022 Here are a few progressive photo's of jobs done over the past months.#1 A pump house for a swiming pool. Fabricated on site to form a tidy shed. This will add years of protection to the valueble pump equipment. All Electrical and Hydraulics carried out professionally. #2 Walk way replacement at local Quarry. Removal of old damaged and weathered decking and joists. Replace with new decking and joists gives it a new lease of life and meets OHS standards. #3 This area is an Alfresco area built many years ago. The birds had settled in and created so much mess. The clients wanted to add new life to it and stop birds. So I suggested colourbond roofing to the underside. This not only looks good it's great alternative to a flat ceiling and it stops those annoying birds messing up the area.
18.01.2022 The past few months have been full of activity. #1 I was working on a house around 140 years old earlier this year building an extension and major renovation work to the roof and front. Working on this has been a challenge using similar building techniques and more modern techniques the project is coming together nicely. Over the next month the weatherboards will go on and the verandah will be constructed. Here are a few up to date progressive photos taken from the front Nort...h east side. I also still manage to do smaller jobs when asked. #2 This job the client asked to line the gable end of his garage as he didn’t have the time or the equipment. #3 I replaced a door and lock at a local business after a break in. #4 This client wanted me to fit some screens she supplied to partly block the view of the external A/C and HWS units. Also screens attached to a Pergola I constructed late last year. See more

15.01.2022 With the past couple of months work has presented a few challenges. Working while the clients are there, I have managed to maintain a safe distance while providing a safe work site. The clients have provided me with a detailed list of what was required via email and most conversations were over the phone to minimize contact. All jobs worked out well. Once again, with varying budgets and ideas again. Here are a few more pics. #1. Once the re-stumping had been done to this dwel...ling, I was asked to install new base boards to neaten the sub-floor. The painter to finish later #2. This relocatable home was placed into position a month or so ago. After the services had been connected, I built a carport on one end. Roofing installed then paving is then done by other trades. #3. This job is an existing stairwell which required a set of doors to reduce noise and heat lost to the upper level. Painting to follow later on.
15.01.2022 Raising funds for the Niemann Pick Disease Foundation to find a cure.
14.01.2022 I made these doors the other week using recycled timber and paneling supplied by the owners. Once the doors had been put together a good sand and a coat of timber sealer brings the colour to life. Then they can be hinged or put on sliding tracks.
11.01.2022 This job the clients wanted the sliding door removed and a new entrance door and wall put in it's place. This gave them a slightly wider doorway and an adjacent wall they could use. They carried out the painting to keep to their budget. The sliding door was carefully dismantled and set aside for proposed future work.
11.01.2022 After hitting the ground running coming into the New Year these were a few jobs I have done trying to minimize disruption as possible where possible. Once again, with varying budgets and ideas again. Here are a few more pics. #1. This job was part of a bigger job which continued over into this year. It was just a makeover to the existing bathroom/laundry to match the colours and cupboards of the newly renovated office space I did last year. #2. This decking was past it’s use...d by date. The Treated pine had deteriorated somewhat so it was removed and joists replaced where required. New Merbau decking was installed with base board to the sides. Steps painted and reinstalled. New and existing handrails fixed in place. #3. This job was a makeover of an investment property 80’s style house. Original Kitchen removed and new flat pack type installed with new splash back. The bathroom had seen better days. Removal of the bath all together and floor repairs take place with new plumbing and wastes. New Shower and screen only with hand basin required. Floor coverings done. See more
11.01.2022 Clients often approach me with their ideas and budgets. Sometimes they just contract me to do the construction part while they like to be able to do jobs like painting, landscaping or even supplying materials. Here are more pics of varying budgets. #1 Replacement of wall lining and window in house. Painting by owner #2 Replacement of shed window. Painting by owner #3 Replacement of back door. Painting by owner #4 Extend bedroom wall into existing eave for useable space. Owner... to organise remaining trades #5 Roof cover and pergola. Owner did painting and will organise landscaping #6 Replacement of timber decking with new Composite Trex Decking. Owner supplied decking. See more
10.01.2022 This shed was turned into a useable space. Once the floor was cleared and cleaned I installed this recycled Glass sliding double door. Leveled up and plumbed, I filled in the wall cladding to close it in. Then I attached a verandah across the front to give the new entrance protection. This old storage shed then had a new lease of life.
10.01.2022 Some jobs have to be thought out weeks or months ahead so there is little disruption as possible. Some clients are still living in their houses so water and power still have to be connected while still maintaining security throughout the job. Also having a clean site helps too. Here are some before and after photos again. Job #1 was a major renovation moving walls and changing entries to suit the client’s life style. All the timber used for construction was in accordance with A.S 1684 and all trades were registered. Job #2 was creating an Air lock in an existing office at a local business. This gives better security.
08.01.2022 I often get asked to partition off walls in sheds to make storerooms or personal space. This particular job was on a bigger scale to create Office space for two new local Businesses. Turner Strategies P/L and K9 Assistance Australia approached me with their ideas towards the end of last year wanting to use unused space within an existing shed. Once the designs were sorted and the paperwork done, work commenced with framing and rough in of services. Windows plus sliding door ...installed and Plastering was able to be done before the Christmas break. Fortunately forward planning was the key with kitchenette and materials ordered in advance. This year has continued on with finishing the kitchenette and internal finishes. External wall linings finished off once extra Electrical and data sorted. The job ran easily with the following trades, cheers guys. Mark from Instyle Doors and Screens, Travis from Moore and Moore Electrical Troy from MRM Maintenance Peter Somerville Plastering A big thank you to Turner Strategies P/L and K9 Assistance Australia, good luck. 05.01.2022 Towards the end of last year work was constant with one or two jobs carrying through to 2020. Types of Jobs with varying budgets and ideas again. Here are a few more pics. #1. This was a low budget job for the Axedale Community Hall. Detachable Steps constructed for the stage with Castor wheels for easy storage. #2. This was a Wardrobe with full height mirror doors which weren’t very practical. A new Wardrobe built in its place with central drawers. It now keeps everything... hidden and matches the rest of the interior of the house. #3. The outside of this house was getting a lot of the afternoon sun. So a roofed area was the best solution. Not only does it provide needed protection but it gives extra cover for outdoor entertaining. Roofing supplied by owner. # 4. This job is in progress at present. Building storage and office space within an existing shed can mean a few challenges. This is old wood heater which was removed to make way for a kitchenette. First a new window and Sliding door are installed. Secondly electrical, plumbing and wall linings are done. More photos to follow once the job is complete in the next month. See more
03.01.2022 With early Spring and warmer weather, work recently ranging from Low budget to Medium budget job have been keeping me on the go. Here are a few more pics. #1. Tiling. The clients engaged me to tile the walls once they had organised the installation of the new Kitchen. #2. Decorative Screens. Installation of screens to post and Colourbond to block view and sound from the services at the rear of the house. #3. Partition walls and Sliding door Installation. The clients wanted to... use this space in their existing garage. Once the new Walls framed and lined the removal of original window can be done. Then installation of the new Sliding door can be done. Finished off with flashings and architraves to suit. # 4. Extension to existing House. This early 80’s designed house needed extra room as the family grows. I was able to reuse the windows and some bricks which they sourced to match the original house. This kept the job within their budget. See more
01.01.2022 We have spent the past 3 months working on this job. The original house is around 140 years old so working on this was a challenge. Blending new with old can be a task, but with forethought and planning we ended up with the good result. Once the appropriate contract has been signed work gets underway. The demolition was done by owner and set out was commenced.- Stump holes bored and stumps put in. - Bearers and joists down ready for flooring. Original water tank is made redun...dant so an Engineered concrete cap is placed over the top.- Reinforced concrete slab on Bondek so new floor can be extended over the top. Walls frame up, trusses erected and new roof married in with original roofing members. Then the roofing contractor starts. Note: All structural framing, excavation work and concrete slab was Engineer designed with relevant Inspections by a local Building surveyor. Plans and specs supplied by owner. See more
