18.01.2022 Shared from another site Update on new floats - be aware tare weight stamped on compliance plate isnt necessarily the actual tare weight with everything on it. I bought a 3HAL luxury float advertised as 1750kg (This was with inclusions, not additions) - compliance plate says 1900kg (I can live with that) but actual tare weight (when I put it on the weighbridge for registration) was actually 2260kg!! With a GVM of 3500kg this means I only have 1240kg I can put on the float - ...so I cannot use my 3HAL float for 3 horses. I am having to strip some of the inclusions off to be able to use the float for 3 horses - it doesnt matter if I only have 1 horse on. I have been advised by several different people that it is normal for tare weight to be measured without centre dividers and other standard items in (not just this manufacturer - this includes Australian built as well as imports). This means there are probably a lot people on the road overloaded without realising it. I am getting light weight dividers supplied to me at no extra cost due to the way I was misled with the weight - I can live with that. Most of the time I am going to only have 1 horse on but if I need to cart three, I will need to strip a lot of the storage (such as the swing out tack box, external storage box and yards) off to legally carry three horses. Although I am disappointed in how I was misled, the company is working with me and covering my costs to have the float useable for what I wanted (and advised them I needed) in the first place. I would recommend everyone to go over the weigh bridge at least once fully loaded to see exactly what weight you are carrying - I bet you will be surprised. It was worth the $25! Wherever you are buying from - confirm how the tare weight was measured and what was on the float when it was measured! See more

12.01.2022 There is no way that the horse will ever try to take advantage of you. Hes as honest and as truthful as anything you could ever work with. He has no ego that... gets in his way. He has no pride that gets in his way. He doesnt know what win or lose is. And those are the four things that get in the humans way. Its very sad. All the horse is trying to do is survive; hes trying to make it. So I try to work with him like he was me, just like I hope he would work with me. Ray Hunt See more
