25.01.2022 COVID RESTRICTION UPDATE: From 6pm this evening until 22 January the Chief Health Officer has kept some COVID restrictions in place. These short term measures are to help us make sure that we don't have any outbreaks of the highly contagious UK-strain of COVID in our community. The temporary restrictions are:... Businesses and venues can have one person per 4m indoors and one person per 2m outdoors. Smaller venues up to 200m can have one person per 2m up to a maximum of 50. You must be seated to eat and drink, and no dancing is allowed except at weddings. Gatherings are restricted to 20 people in homes and public spaces. Weddings and funerals can have up to 100 people, and dancing is allowed at weddings without restrictions. Indoor concert venues and theatres can operate at 50% capacity or one person per four square metres, whichever is greater. Outdoor stadiums can operate at 50% capacity with COVID-safe plans. Restrictions on visits to hospitals, aged care, disability accommodation and prisons will remain. You must carry a mask at all times. Masks must be worn in indoor places including shopping centres and supermarkets, gyms, places of worship, libraries, public transport, and taxis and rideshare vehicles. Masks must be worn in workplaces if social distancing isn’t possible and it’s safe to do so. You don’t need to wear a mask in private vehicles, while outdoors at a safe distance from other people or if you’re doing strenuous exercise.

17.01.2022 Better hospitals More jobs for local tradies We will deliver a new $50.5 million five-level car park to provide easier and more secure access for patients, visitors and staff. ... The car park was designed with the future of the Redlands residents in mind, and will be built in the north-west corner behind the existing hospital buildings with a dedicated access road. I’m very welcoming of this project because it will enable the major upgrades of the hospital itself. It also has the flexibility to rise by an additional two levels and be duplicated so the car park capacity can be more than doubled in the future. The preliminary designs are impressive both aesthetically and functionally, especially with the inclusion of end of trip shower and bike parking facilities for staff. The car park also includes sustainable features including solar panels and a water tank, as well as end-of-trip facilities for active transport, including bike spaces, showers and lockers.

08.01.2022 It's been a challenging year but today's Presentation Day showed just how much the mighty Lions of Slacks Creek Rugby League have achieved. They implemented COVID guidelines, opened a magnificent new clubhouse, and had plenty of champions out on the field. I may no longer be the Minister for Sport, but I will always fight for local clubs.

07.01.2022 Les Walker MP - Mundingburra and Barry O'Rourke - Member for Rockhampton have joined Kim Richards Member for Redlands and I to ensure our hydrogen strategy delivers jobs for Queenslanders at a local level. Here in the Sunshine State, we are poised to be a major producer, consumer and exporter of hydrogen. It will take a determined focus of our Government and that's why I couldn't be happier to have Les, Barry and Kim on board.

Thank you to all our healthcare workers on the frontline for your tireless efforts!

06.01.2022 There's a lot at stake this election, possibly more than there has ever been. During this global pandemic, we've all worked together to keep on top of this virus, and it's also thanks to the Palaszczuk Government's investment into frontline health staff that meant we had care when we needed it. Last time Deb Frecklington and the LNP were in government they cut 926 healthcare staff from our region alone. ... Now they want to do it again. We can't risk that, not when COVID-19 is still a threat. Labor will keep rebuilding our frontline services, whether its police, fireys, doctors or nurses. It supports jobs and means we can continue to deliver our plan for economic recovery.

06.01.2022 A beautiful day of ZERO new COVID-19 cases! Well done, Queensland. Let's keep it up.
