25.01.2022 With 2 new cameras and some new lures in my ute i set off hoping a dog would be moving on one of the 5 blocks im currently trapping on. Well that was full of disappointment so i pulled all my traps but 1 block.
25.01.2022 After todays run i decided to go over my ute stock. Only 1 trap left turned into a clean up and pan tension check. Then with a tastey rum i scraped off the old sticker and upgraded
24.01.2022 Todays run around so far, (40minute drive to last block on the other side of town) . I had no traps where the camera is until today after confirming a new dog in the area. See how long this one takes to return. 3 traps with different lures there now
24.01.2022 Wednesday night while grabbing bread and milk from the servo i was approached by a gentleman who had lost a cow and another badly torn up to problem dogs( neighbour also lost 6 sheep) I asked him to call me sunday unsure of how busy i would be. Around 3 i decided i had time to make the 45minute drive and be back for roast dinner. I set 3 traps and one of my new cameras ( clock set at 5:17pm) 8:20pm he calls me and ive got a dog. He discovered this after another one approach...ed their bonfire on the opposite side of the house just 300m from set traps and gave chase. So possibly just under 3hrs. One very happy gentleman an PB quickest catch for me. WTS5 double staked.

22.01.2022 Trapping life. After unanswered calls to the owner i took my dog for the cross country walk to the house. Joining me on the walk back the owner was like. Yup still to wet to cross Glad i didnt try it 2 weeks ago like he suggested
22.01.2022 Good run last night. 2 foxs. I old dog with a trap scrathed at just 20m away. Then i got a flat tyre.
21.01.2022 Recently i purchased 4 dvds based on trapping. Taking advantage of being home with my sick daughter. Ive picked up on some improvements i can make. Currently im tied up with family commitments but plan to start trapping in March.
21.01.2022 So this mornings un eventful pigging trip got very exciting as we were heading back to ute. Pack of 9 quickly dispersed. These 2 were not quick enough.
20.01.2022 So unable to make it to a prior engagement 2 nights in a row due to work commitments. I got the $&@@) and set to fixing one amateur problem. Lack of rear light as 90% of my trapping occurs after dark. Now my beat up cut and shut old dog box has lights. So i can set behind my ute now with motor off. Not in front. The trap ally trunk has door switches mounted and led strip lighting mounted ready to be wired. It will also house dual battery and inverter eventually. I have acqui...red another patrol which will be custom built for trapping/ shooting. This will mean decommissioning my V8 comp truck for motor and box etc. but it will be a beast I have designed a new custom dog box with trapping/ pigging in mind but that can’t be made untill further progress on the projects tray. For now gutlux will just have to do when i kick off for a better year.
20.01.2022 Due to family and a broken ute/ other commitments i haven’t been after dogs until recently. Ive been monitoring blocks though. I gave some mellon eating pigs some curry. Finally went to new block today. Possibly covered 1000acres of one 17000 acre block. Flood damage slowed me down a bit

19.01.2022 Its not about how many traps. Its about where and how you put them. Thats 8 wild dogs from this one small property. 3 different catch locations just 280m apart. Ive shrunk that to a 100m set trap span. 5 dogs in one location. Same trap reset. Bridger 5.
19.01.2022 So totally unexpected today put me at a total of 22 dogs for the year. Couple shocked farmers and happy ones too
18.01.2022 Im going to remind everyone about personal hygiene and safety while handling dogs and pigs. Both species carry numerous bacteria which are harmful to humans. Ive been sick for 2 weeks now .im assuming after a pigging accident. I was on a trap run and seen a good boar. We took chase but the only knife i had was an old skinning knife. It done the job but it cut through the sheath when re holstered. Walking back to my ute i cut my swinging hand. While still not confirmed ive been on antibiotics and improved dramatically. I use latex gloves, soaps and hand sanitizer regularly. The wound was washed immediately with soap and sanitizer. Both my dogs have been tested and may get put down. Both dogs have licked my kids so i have great concerns for them too
17.01.2022 Ok reached a personal best. 3 caught in less than 24hrs 6 for the year so far normally i dont start trapping for anoner month.

12.01.2022 Last time through 3 feet stepped on the jaws. This visit not so lucky. This should be last one here. Earlier in the week i seen a small mob of pigs on another block. Brought home the bacon.
10.01.2022 Just ordered 15 new WTS5 traps, an AJ caller and wild dog calls card. In 4 weeks im going on my first paid property clean up job.
10.01.2022 Working farmers and volunteer shooters being able to buy ammunition as part of essential service activities. I have actively continued trapping and pest control for farmers.
09.01.2022 So im very happy with the my dogs performance this year. Ive changed a few techniques and im now up to 8 dogs for the year. But ive only serriously trapped for about 5 weeks now. Jump on the voluntary pest control during covid bandwagon.
07.01.2022 So big day on the Polaris today. Shop fitted snorkel for warranty reasons. Roof and under seat box. Today full under body kit went on and dad and i made the frame for back end. Never thought if buy a pelican case but these 2 fit perfectly in the Ranger tub and top rack we made. Was trying to register for another trapping day when i got a call. Got a dog just out of town
06.01.2022 Today i was approached by one of my best mates former employers. Might have to really step it up now. Another property exclusion fenced and wants dogs removed with him setting the bounty price. Started initial planning tonight with Dad keen to come too.
06.01.2022 With my holidays quickly coming to an end its cleanup time. Trap count, clean adjustments and boil up/ rewax. Will even have a crack at a few lures this year.

02.01.2022 Onto a mates block again. Last time i had a few near misses but didnt catch anything. 2 years later and better equipped and more experienced. Ive now caught 2 in less than a week in the same location. Ive seen this black dog twice maybe 3 times on this property over the years.

01.01.2022 Well its been full on between work trapping and family. 13 dogs for the year. 12 in just over 7 weeks. Currently getting one every 3 days. One good double trap. Couple in season bitches. One of my damaged traps is now repaired with the rest planned for the weekend. Saturday i pick up the new rig. 2020 Polaris ranger 500.
