25.01.2022 Staff parking at a premium!

20.01.2022 Were currently working on a project with our good mates from SHASA to establish Eurobodalla’s own Solar Recycling depot which would combine recycling of PV panels, balance of systems and batteries with technical training and a re use manufacturing facility. The concept being to accept unwanted and end of life PV panels and associated materials to clean, test and certify these articles for possible resale back to the public at a subsidised price and for absolute end of life eq...uipment; to be broken down and recycled at the materials level. We would like to hear from you if you are interested in working on this project which will commence via a zoom meeting early next week. Please email [email protected] should you wish to register your interest.

19.01.2022 Great result for the Narooma Men's Shed...shiny new 9.45kW PV solar system to go with their fantastic new digs, courtesy of our mates at Southcoast Health & Sustainability Alliance and the Australian Government.

13.01.2022 Thats right peoples...#bodallarocks ! Pick up your very own sticker from the The Downward Dog Co Cafe and show your support for a community that stands solid as a ...well rock X

11.01.2022 Couple commuting from Bermagui to Canberra after Covid19 restrictions ease, stop to recharge at Bodalla. After half an hour including time for a take away feed from The Downward Dog Co Cafe, they are back on the road. They have a Nissan Leaf, which after a quick stop at the fast chargers in Batemans Bay were able to continue onto Canberra with reserve energy on arrival. To really open up far south coast EV traffic from Canberra, we need a fast Charger located in Braidwood. This would bolster the confidence of EV drivers of which there are plenty. Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council any plans for this?

10.01.2022 Hello and welcome to Moo’s News! Moo’s News is a newsletter written by the community for the community. The newsletter was established for the good folk of Bo...dalla and our close neighbours in an aim to bring the community closer together following the bushfire season that affected so many. Under auspice of Southcoast Health & Sustainability Alliance [SHASA] we were successful in obtaining grant funding from Coordinare - part of the South Eastern NSW Primary Health Network. These bushfire recovery funds will allow us to facilitate the newsletter which we hope can become a platform to strengthen reliance in the community, help residents and businesses rebuild, assist with isolation and encourage social cohesion. Our overall aim is to promote and improve mental health and wellbeing within the community. The launch of Moo’s News has become even more important in light of the recent Covid 19 restrictions. We encourage you to get in touch and be involved with any aspects of making the newsletter if this is something that might interest you. Whether it be stories, information, services, or entertainment - we want to hear from you! If you would like to submit an article or story but don’t wish to have your name on it, please don’t worry, as we are happy to publish anonymously. The project will run for two years and produce a newsletter on a bi-monthly basis with the aim to have our first edition published in July/August this year. The newsletter will be made available to view online however emphasis will be placed on being able to provide printed copies to those in our community who may not have access to computer equipment for whatever reason. Thank you for taking the time to read and we look forward to you getting in touch! Email: [email protected] Instagram: @mooforthenews

24.12.2021 MEDIA RELEASE A 4kW Stand-alone Power System was recently installed for Keith Michael Nye of Mogo. The system was donated and installed by Micro Energy Systems ...Australia [MESA] of Bodalla, who work in close partnership with local Community group SHASA. The MESA / SHASA alliance has seen many bushfire affected locals such as Keith, assisted with turnkey solutions at no cost. Keith is an Indigenous artist well known for his work in the region. Unfortunately, the assistance he had already received to provide a working energy supply solution was not sufficient and much of the equipment he had cobbled together was unworkable. Obtaining further support to purchase the appropriate equipment proved difficult. Marea Stefek, Support Officer for the National Bushfire Recover Agency put MESA in touch with GIVIT in Canberra. As a result, the project received much needed funding for the shortfall in equipment MESA was not able to cover. A year on from the Black Summer Bushfires, national online charity GIVIT is reflecting on coordinating more than 160,000 items to support NSW communities who are recovering. GIVIT Regional NSW Manager, Caroline Odgers says the needs for communities are focused on rebuilding properties as well as items to best support the mental health of those affected. There’s still a need for water tanks, generators and tools, but we’re also seeing requests for items to support people’s wellbeing such as beehives, seedlings, canoes, guitars and sewing machines. It’s so important to make these communities feel they’re supported and not forgotten, said Ms Odgers. The GIVIT website removes the need for councils and charities to physically collect, sort and store donations, significantly reducing the administrative and financial burden, as well as saving valuable resources for critical recovery activities. To donate and see what’s needed, please visit GIVIT.org.au. GIVIT uses 100% of donations received to purchase essential items for people in need, and wherever possible from local businesses. 22.11.2021 When daz comes to town....

02.11.2021 Hello friends, My name is Kathryn Maxwell and I’m the president of the Southcoast Health and Sustainability Alliance (SHASA), a community energy group in NSW. I...’m writing to you today from Parliament House to launch a new campaign to Repower Our Communities along with Community Power Agency. Many of you have first-hand experience of the wonderful things community energy groups can achieve in towns across the country. In Eurobodalla our group has helped 10 community owned facilities install over 100 kW of solar and 20kw of batteries. However, I know that it is a real struggle to access the required resources to make more of these projects happen, whether that be funds, expertise or capacity. That’s why I came to Parliament today with a group of farmers and other community energy representatives from regional Australia. This exciting new campaign, in partnership with Farmers for Climate Action can sidestep the climate wars by highlighting the bushfire resilience, local jobs & economic opportunities that community energy can bring to our regional communities if it's supported appropriately. Join the Repower Our Communities campaign and create a groundswell of community energy support... https://www.repowerourcommunities.org.au/ The Repower Our Communities campaign, based on Independent Member for Indi Helen Haines’ Local Power Plan, will build public support for the roll out of community-owned renewable energy in the regions, making sure our towns and regions benefit from the renewables boom. There are no losers here. By keeping the focus on local jobs and benefits to our regions, the Repower our Communities campaign is a chance to avoid getting bogged down in the climate debate and get on with the job of reducing Australia’s emissions. It’s a no brainer, truly. Join our campaign to give it the support it needs to succeed! We farmers already know that, with government leadership, the transition to renewables could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to revitalise our farming and regional communities. Wind and solar can be harvested throughout the year, providing local jobs and income in good times and bad. By making sure the benefits of renewable energy projects stay with us, we can increase the resilience of regional communities in the face of a changing climate. I believe we can win this campaign. Australians love renewable energy and already right across the country, from Yackandandah to Shoalhaven, local groups are developing community-owned renewable projects. We just need the government to come to the table. Sign up and help power Australia with community owned renewable energy. Here’s to helping more communities transition to a renewables future, Kathryn Maxwell President, Southcoast Health & Sustainability Alliance (SHASA)
