08.01.2022 Minimum milk pricing and Milk Supply Agreements for NSW: As you are aware, the dairy industry now operates under a Mandatory Code of Conduct. Part of this requires processors to make publicly available their minimum milk price on the 1st June. The NSW DPI Dairy Business Advisory Unit has compiled a table with links to processor Milk Supply Agreements in which you will find pricing details - go to the Milk Supply Agreements section of the website page. https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au//d/dairy-business-advisory-unit

To make life easier for both farmers and processors who are negotiating new agreements in the lead up to the new season, ADF has been tasked by the Federal Government with developing a standard form contract template. The template is intended to help ensure both parties have a baseline of information when considering new milk supply agreements. We encourage anyone to visit our website and download the template here: http://australiandairyfarmers.com.au/cod/contract-template/

05.01.2022 $, Our local dairy farmers are being encouraged to access grants of up to $20,000 to help them lower t...heir power bills and play their part in helping to reduce Australia’s emissions. From 22 June 2020 dairy farmers across Australia can apply for grants that will support them to make their energy use more efficient and to reduce their power bills through the Government’s Energy Efficient Communities program. Grants of up to $20,000 will be available for a dairy farming business to upgrade equipment to reduce energy consumption, invest in monitoring systems to better manage energy use, and conduct energy audits to investigate other opportunities for energy efficient activities. Energy use is one of the highest overheads in the dairy industry, making up a significant part of a dairy farm's operational costs. The program, which fulfils the Coalition’s election commitment, aims to help dairy farming businesses lower their power bills by becoming more energy efficient. I know this program will be certainly welcome news for a lot of our local dairy farmers and I’m encouraging them all to access the funding which has been made available. Farmers have long been at the forefront of innovation to reduce their cost of doing business and their emissions output, but energy costs remain high for many in our dairy sector, especially when farmers are doing it tough on the back of bushfires and COVID19. The Government’s support will help dairy farmers in their efforts to better manage their energy use while also continuing to play a role in reducing global emissions. The Energy Efficient Communities Program was announced as part of the Government’s Climate Solutions Package in the 2019 Federal Budget. $10 million has been made specifically available for the dairy round. To ensure an equitable distribution across dairying regions, funding will be available in each state in proportion to the number of dairy farms. Grant guidelines and application forms for the dairy round are available at business.gov.au, or by telephone on 13 28 46. Applications will close on 17 August 2020. 05.01.2022 What does ‘minimum price’ mean in the new Dairy Code? This is the lowest price payable to farmers by the processor (excluding temporary step downs, loyalty paym...ents or fees). Here’s what else you need to know: Every milk supply agreement MUST contain a minimum price. This price is important the code protections apply to the minimum price, NOT indicative or weighted average prices that a processor might advertise. It can be either a single price that will apply for the entire agreement, or a schedule setting out prices on either a monthly or yearly basis. The code doesn’t specify a minimum price, or require it be to set in a specified way. This won’t apply if a processor is a small business entity.
