20.01.2022 Congratulations to former NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons, tonight named the NSW Australian Of The Year. On accepting the award, Shane has paid special tribute to the volunteers who worked to protect homes and lives last fire season, and particularly those who lost their lives.

19.01.2022 A scorcher for Western Sydney tomorrow, temperatures in Sydney to reach 35C, but Western Sydney to reach 41C. Sunny for most of the day, a possible thunderstorm at 7pm ahead of a cool change. You know the drill, look after your pets and leave plenty of water around, check in on your neighbours especially the vulnerable and try to stay out of the heat!

07.01.2022 Due to the current situation and the call from our Premier to cancel all non essential gathering we have sadly cancelled our brigade's Christmas party for the third time in the last 12 months, this time last year we postponed due to the fire season, then again in March with the outbreak of Covid and now again. We urge everyone to take care over the next few days and please listen to the authorities to not attend any non essential gathering. We wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. Please stay safe everyone and don't forget we are all in this together!

05.01.2022 1 year ago today, we woke to the tragic news of the loss of two volunteer firefighters, Andrew O'Dwyer and Geoffrey Keaton from Horsley Park Rural Fire Brigade paid the ultimate sacrifice whilst protecting the community of Buxton, South West of Sydney, from bushfires. Today we take time to remember their sacrifice and send our thoughts and prayers to Andrew and Geoffrey's families and fellow brigade members.

05.01.2022 Tonight we got back to what we love doing, getting in the bush and doing some training, here we have our Cat1, Cat 9 and our PC doing some hose and burn over drills!

04.01.2022 We currently have Middle Dural 1 on scene dealing with a bushfire approximately 1km north of Glenorie, please take care and avoid the area as the road is currently closed!

03.01.2022 Know what to do when you hear a siren or see the flashing blue or red lights of an approaching emergency vehicle? When you hear a siren or see the flashing blue or red lights of an approaching emergency vehicle: * Give way to the emergency vehicle if you are stopped do not move until it is safe to proceed, even if the traffic light is green. If you are moving, you must slow down and stop if necessary to avoid a collision with the emergency vehicle.... * Move out of the way as soon as you can safely do so * Move over as much as you can to the left-hand side of the road or, if possible, move onto the road shoulder or breakdown lane. On multi-lane roads, try to move into the left lane to let the emergency vehicle pass * Drivers on both sides of the road should be prepared to move out of the path of emergency vehicles * Emergency vehicles with sirens sounding or lights flashing responding to urgent situations are not required to follow the rules, as long as it is safe for them to do so. Drivers should always be extra cautious when they see flashing lights or hear sirens. https://roadsafety.transport.nsw.gov.au//approaching-emerg
