25.01.2022 It’s official: today marks the start of cyclone season. Have you ever wondered what 100 years of cyclone track maps look like? Here it is: the Bureau of Meteoro...logy map for cyclones from 1906 to 2006. On average 4.7 tropical cyclones affect the Queensland coast every year. There have been more than 200 known tropical cyclone impacts along the Australian east coast since 1858. 18.01.2022 Our firefighters face uncertainty every day in their line of duty, sacrificing their own safety to protect the lives and properties throughout Queensland. Today..., when the clock struck 10am, we paused for a minute's silence to honour those firefighters who have paid the ultimate price. Firefighters Remembrance Day happens every year on the 10th day of the 10th month and is a day of reflection for fallen firefighters. Commemorative services are being held across the state and flags flown at half-mast at fire stations in tribute to firefighters whose lives were lost in the line of duty. #FirefightersRemembranceDay #firefighterfamily #thankyou See more

14.01.2022 Ever wondered what we mean by hazard reduction burn? To reduce the bushfire risk in certain areas, land owners and occupiers conduct hazard reduction burns to r...educe the amount of grass and vegetation that could potentially fuel a bushfire. These burns are planned and controlled. Did you know the responsibility for bushfire mitigation rests with the owner of the land? There are many factors to consider when planning for a burn including wind, landscape, moisture rating and temperatures, just to name a few. Different techniques allow for land owners and occupiers to control the burn and ensure it stays contained within fire lines. #fightingfirewithfire #hazburn (Image: Sam Reid) See more

11.01.2022 Just a Callout to any middlemount residence who might be thinking of joining the Firies. We are in need of a couple more recruits we're after permanent residents who have a bit of spare time open to all adults age gender etc I've been an axillery firefighter for about eight years now and it's been one of the most exciting and satisfying thing I've ever done. It does require a bit of sacrifice but the rewards are great. So if your a community minded person who wants to learn a new skill set give Steve a call on 0400723484 or just pop in to the station after 7pm on a Wednesday night for a info pack

11.01.2022 Get down low and go, go, go! Check out our firefighters in action at a recent Fire Ed visit with Year One students from Middlemount Community School.
