17.01.2022 Hi all Trust you are all doing well. Have the numbers gone up and how does this relate to the actual outcome? And more importantly, will the lock-down in Melbourne finish this week?... Maybe, but don't expect your health club to reopen soon. It seems that the Vic Govt won't run the risk of people wanting to stay fit and healthy. By all means when the lock down is over you can fuel your body with copious amounts of caffeine and partake in unlimited alcohol and you may even partake in the odd gambling event and consume large amounts of food when these venues reopen. But, the priority of Vic Gov is your safety and the gym will remain closed...due to the ....well it must be due to the amount of ongoing registration we have been consistently doing as we keep track of all who enter ...something gyms have been doing before convid 19 even arrived. Or it must also be due to the fact that we are monitoring temperatures, or maybe that we are consistently cleaning and preventing contamination with zoono. Or it has to be our responsible members who continually clean down all equipment and bring a large towel with them. It couldn't be because you choose to go to the gym to stay fit, get stronger or even to improve your emotional fitness. So the reason your club will remain closed is because ...well...it's logical...it's the only place people exhale and stand next to each other. That would never happen in a supermarket, a restaurant, a cafe or even a finance office in Port Melbourne (Hi Rob). On the flip side, it's worth noting that exercise has once again been scientifically proven to be good for you. A latest study has revealed.... Regular exercise reduces the chances of dying from infectious diseases such as COVID-19 by more than a third and makes people 31% less likely to catch the virus, a major study has found. Further..... The scientists concluded that the recommended amount of exercise can result in a "31% decrease in the risk of infectious disease such as COVID-19, a 37% decrease in the risk of death as a consequence of infectious disease such as COVID-19 and an increase in the efficacy of vaccination against viral disease such as COVID-19". I was hoping to send the link to the study to the Victorian Government...I can't as I don't own a fax machine. Anyway that's my hat thrown in...whatever will be, will be...just expect as happened in WA earlier this year and now in regional Victoria, that when the restrictions are lifted....your club may be closed for a few weeks. We will endeavour to offer an alternative club membership...we are just checking with CoPP for guidance. Jack
