21.01.2022 WEST AUSSIES: OUR REGIONS NEED YOU. We all know that our restrictions on incoming travel to our State have helped keep us safe and our economy strong, with trav...el within WA booming. But for some industries it is also leading to unusual challenges which we need to work together to overcome. For many regional businesses, seasonal workers are crucial to their operations through peak periods. Those seasonal workers often largely consist of workers from outside WA, such as backpackers who are currently unable to come into our State. That means that there is a huge need for additional workers in a number of industries right across our State. Today my Government is launching a significant campaign to help recruit more workers for those regional businesses. Workers are needed on vinyards, farms, breweries, resorts and more, in picturesque locations right across our State. We know there are many West Aussies who are looking for work, so we want to do our bit to match up those workers with these important roles. If you’re looking for work, or you know someone who is, this is a fantastic opportunity to get out of the city, get to work and wander our great State. I’d strongly encourage you to answer the call.

18.01.2022 Happy 90th Birthday to My Dad Terry Middleton. Serving the Wheatbelt and Districts for over 38 Years as founder of TJ Middleton Accountants. He was a big part of the community volunteering his time to many organisations both sporting and community groups. Learned a lot from him and enjoyed a great Partnership with him before his retirement in 1997. Cheers Terry.

13.01.2022 Next steps 6 August 2020 Expressions of interest open. 17 August 2020 Expressions of interest close at 4pm, late applications will not be accepted.... 25 August 2020 Applicants notified whether they have been successful. 31 August 2020 PIVOT program starts. Places on the program are limited, so it’s important to submit your expression of interest promptly. To ensure as many businesses as possible can benefit from this valuable program, applications will be limited to one per business. All eligible businesses are encouraged to submit an expression of interest, however preference will be given to businesses that: have been significantly impacted by government restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic; or operate in the tourism, agrifood, hospitality or retail sectors. Expressions of interest will be reviewed by a Small Business Development Corporation selection panel. Consideration will also be given to the location of participants to ensure both regional and metropolitan areas are represented.
