24.01.2022 Hazard icons across the country have a new consistent look. The new Australian Warning System introduces several changes to the way the community will be notifi...ed about hazards. We're rolling out the first stage of the changes to the Australian Warning System for bushfire in Tassie today. The changes will include the way bushfire warnings are displayed on the TFS website. From today, consistent colours will be used for: Advice (yellow), Watch and Act (orange); and Emergency Warning (red) The icon shapes will also change on maps from diamonds to triangles. While the colours and icons change, the meanings of the levels do not change. The changes are designed to bring consistency to the way warnings are displayed across Australia. Over time more states will use the new colours and icons and they will be used for other hazards like floods and storms. Further changes will occur in Tasmania in 2021, including enhancements to our warning messages. The Australian Warnings System is based on community research and good practice, in terms of what communities recognise and what gets people to take action during an emergency.

09.01.2022 It's R U OK? Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today we're calling on Australians to learn what to say after R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK. There's more to say after R U OK?... Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before they're in crisis. Learn what to say next and help us move closer to our vision of a world where we're all connected and are protected from suicide. Head to www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask
