Our most recent environmental investment has been expanding our onsite water storage capacity to 230,000 litres almost four times our previous storage which allows us to resuse water on site. #worldenvironmentday

23.01.2022 Ben & Ange Tweddle In Glencoe, SA, Ben & Ange Tweddle run their 500 acre dairy farm with their two children Shae, 12 & Connor, 10. They took over the family farm 9 years ago, after moving from their 200 cow operation at Allendale East. Ben & Ange milk 300 holstein cows and frequent shows such Adelaide Royal, International Dairy Week & Victorian Winter Fair with their Benlargo stud holstein cows. Shae & Connor just recently started their owns studs, Shae with Jersey cows and C...onnor with Brahmans. Ben & Ange rear all their replacement heifers and F1 calves, which they then join the F1 heifers to the Black Limousin bull and calve down. It has been over 10 years since Ben & Ange began dealing with Midfield. When asked, Ange said ‘the best thing about dairy farming is the lifestyle, being able to be your own boss and see what you’re achieving. And, the animals of course’. 14.01.2022 Neil & Helen Shepherd In 1949, Neil’s grandfather bought the property at Kongorong, SA where Neil & Helen are today. Neil grew up working on the farm and was a professional shearer for 15 years. Helen, a local herself having grown up in Mount Gambier, currently works for Crawford & Company. For several years, Neil & Helen ran their own Ag contracting business, super spreading, and livestock carting. They have two girls, Emma & Jess who are both currently pursuing careers in W...arrnambool. On the property, Neil & Helen’s current operation runs Shorthorn cows and Corriedale ewes. In the past, they have trialed crossbreeding with Charolais, Waygu & Limousin bulls, as well as Dorset and Border Leicester rams. Neil & Helen have planted over 10,000 trees, predominantly gums, on their property to create habitats for the native Australian wildlife and shelterbelts for the stock. Right from the beginning, the Shepherd family have always bred White Leg Horn chickens and kelpies. Neil said that they have been selling to The Midfield Group for over 10 years due to the pricing security, knowing the pricing before the livestock left the property and the consistent professional handling of stock by carriers. 12.01.2022 Here’s another great behind-the-scenes story of local businesses not hesitating to help us during these unprecedented times. We’re now shoring-up our food suppl...ies in case we get an increase in patients. Midfield International not only craned in a freezer for us as soon as we called them for help. They’ve also loaned it free of charge. Now, our Food Services staff are working harder than ever menu planning, prepping and cooking to fill up this standby freezer while, inspiringly, still doing their usual day’s work, as well. So far they’ve frozen 3,000 main meals, 1,000 desserts and 1,000 soups. And all while continuing to provide meals for all of our inpatients, the staff in our staff cafeteria, the staff and other customers at Café Nosh (currently takeaway-only), residents of some local aged care facilities, the customers of our daily Meals on Wheels service, and the customers of our three-days-a-week Fresh Deliver service. Go team. You rock Thank you to everyone in our kitchen. Thank you Midfields. Thank you to our Supply Department and Building & Infrastructure teams (for organising the logistics for the arrival and placement of the freezer). ANOTHER fantastic team effort.

06.01.2022 Bruce & Janet Saffin It has not always been dairy farming for Bruce & Janet Saffin. Bruce grew up on a dairy farm but started his career as a shearer for 10 years, alongside working at the local abattoirs, then purchased and drove his own truck for 14 years carting forestry products. Janet left school and worked for Fletcher Jones in Mount Gambier as a seamstress for 7 years, before finishing to have their first son Troy. Bruce & Janet moved onto a dairy farm in the South Eas...t as the managers and raised their three children, Troy, Kelsey & Tim. With over 25 plus years’ experience in the industry, they now manage a 430 cow farm. The farm runs predominantly Holstein cows with the odd crossbred. Janet loves the farm because she said ‘...being able to see the grandkids run around, having fun is great to watch. They love the cows and helping with the calves.’ Bruce said that, ‘We’ve been selling to Midfield for over 10 years now and supplying UDC since 2018. We choose to support The Midfield Group because we like the way they operate and the good work ethics, and that it is Australian owned.’ Thank-you Bruce & Janet, it is families like yours that are the core of The Midfield Group.
