23.01.2022 We chat to renowned piano tuner and technician, Ron Stephenson about his 70 plus years working in the fields of tuning, repairing and restoring pianos. Ron is our regular piano tuner and technician who also takes care of tuning many of our student's pianos. He also mentions why it's so important to make sure that our pianos are tuned and maintained at least once a year. Sadly, some students and parents don't get their pianos tuned and maintained annually and that's not good f...or the instrument or the player! Ron has been tuning our pianos for over 20 years and we simply can't recommend him highly enough for his expertise, professionalism and vast knowledge. He's literally a walking encyclopaedia when it comes to knowing everything there is to know about every piano out there and where and when they were manufactured. Ron will soon be celebrating his 91st birthday, but he assures us that he's not going anywhere in a hurry and that he'll be around to continue tuning and maintaining our pianos for a very long time to come! Please enjoy our friendly chat with Ron, who popped into the teaching studio to tune the new great white grand piano. Ron can be contacted on 0412104125 or 97914272 for all your piano tuning and maintenance needs.

19.01.2022 Notice to students, parents and guardians regarding stage 4 Covid-19 restrictions and lessons. Stage 4 restrictions announced by Victorian premier Daniel Andrews on Sunday, 2 August 2020 mean that face to face lessons are not permitted for at least 6 weeks whilst these restrictions are in place. We'll be returning to having online lessons as of Monday, 3 August.... Students, parents and guardians must SMS their contact details for online lessons via FaceTime if using Apple devices or Skype if using PC or Android devices. Please let me know your preferred platform although I do prefer FaceTime. I don't use Zoom for online lessons. Please stay safe, let's support each other and remember that we're all in this together! Thankyou for your kind support and understanding during this challenging and unprecedented time during the current Covid-19 pandemic. Kind regards, yours musically and God bless! Lenti Lenko OAM.

11.01.2022 Message to students and parents concerning new level three restrictions and the compulsory wearing of masks in public: Wearing masks in public is compulsory as of 11 59pm on Wednesday, 22 July 2020 in the Greater Melbourne metropolitan region and Mitchell Shire to help combat Covid-19. Wearing a mask isn't mandatory inside the teaching studio. It's up to students and parents if they choose to wear them during lessons, although wearing a mask is highly encouraged during thi...s time. When wearing a mask to lesson, you MUST NOT remove it upon entering the teaching studio and it must remain on your face and correctly fitted for the ENTIRE TIME of the lesson. Please remove masks and leave them in the car if you choose not to wear a mask during lessons. I won't be wearing a mask whilst teaching students as it's not a requirement for educators to wear one whilst giving a lesson. Needless to say, if you're feeling even slightly ill, please contact me AS SOON AS POSSIBLE to arrange an online lesson via FaceTime for Apple devices or Skype for non Mac devices. Anyone arriving for a lesson who appears to have even the slightest cough or sniffle WILL NOT be permitted to enter the teaching studio and will be sent home. Please let common sense prevail in this regard! Anyone entering the teaching studio MUST apply hand sanitiser provided on the small table at the entrance before entering AND after leaving the teaching studio. The Department of Health and Human Services allows private music teachers to give face to face lessons under very strict social distancing and hygiene requirements under the current level three COVID-19 restrictions. Students and parents are also advised that the use of the toilet inside the house during level three restrictions is STRICTLY NOT PERMITTED! Please ensure that you have been to the toilet before attending lessons. In the event that we go to level four restrictions, lessons will have to be conducted online in accordance with any new lockdown restrictions. Let's hope that level four restrictions don't have to be invoked by doing the right thing and letting common sense prevail when it comes to social distancing and hygiene. Thank you so much for your wonderful support and understanding during this challenging and unprecedented time. It's very much appreciated and we're all in this situation together! Kind regards and yours musically! Lenti Lenko OAM.

10.01.2022 Visiting the famous upstairs accordion room, often referred to as 'accordion heaven' at Music Junction in Melbourne with Dragan, one of our accordion students who's been making phenomenal progress in the past 15 months since he started learning and could barely play a note! Dragan needed a more serious instrument to practice on and he purchased a lovely second hand accordion with the wonderful service and advice of Palmi Snorrasen, the long time owner of Music Junction who is himself, a very passionate accordionist and a true gentleman in the music retail industry in Australia. We had the pleasure of chatting with Palmi and you can watch that video below.

09.01.2022 LATEST UPDATE REGARDING TEACHING UNDER LEVEL THREE COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS. Message to students and parents. We've got clearance from the Department of Health and Human Services to conduct face to face lessons under strict social distancing and hygiene conditions in line with current level three COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS. Online lessons are also available via FaceTime for Mac users and Skype for PC and Android users. Students and parents are obviously free to decide between face to... face or online lessons. Needless to say, if students are even slightly ill with a temperature above 37 degrees, have the smallest of coughs, sniffles and sneezes, you will NOT be permitted to enter the teaching studio and will be sent home. Please contact us ASAP to arrange an online lesson if you're not feeling 100% well but are still well enough to have a lesson. Only one parent is permitted to be present in the teaching studio with younger students. Older students will be taught STRICTLY one to one with no parent permitted to be present. Hand sanitiser, available at the entrance to the teaching studio MUST be applied before entering. The piano, couch, door handles etc will be meticulously wiped down between every lesson. Students and parents are not permitted to use the toilet during this lockdown time. Please go to the toilet prior to attending lessons! We at Miditek Music Production, Recording and Tuition take the current unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic very seriously! It's not only that big fines are in place for anyone breaking restrictions with regards to the current level three restrictions, but the fact that we must be working together for the greater good in order to do everything possible to help contain COVID-19 or better still, eliminate it altogether! Let's work together to fight the current Coronavirus pandemic as well as continuing to learn and enjoy playing music! Please watch the accompanying video which more or less explains the new regime when attending lessons at the teaching studio during this current lockdown period. A big thank you to all students and parents for your kindness, support and understanding during this challenging time for all of us! Let's use Covid-19 lockdown as a great opportunity to do a lot of regular practice and first and foremost, ENJOY LEARNING AND PLAYING MUSIC!

08.01.2022 Say hi to 15 year old Tahlia Guzzardi, currently preparing for her ANZCA Grade Two Classical Piano exam. She gives her thoughts on playing our new 'great white' grand piano. It's always a great pleasure teaching Tahlia!

08.01.2022 We speak to the owner of Music Junction in Melbourne, Palmi Snorrasen about his life and the music retail industry in Australia. Palmi has been in music retail for over half a century and is often regarded as a 'true gentleman' within this particular industry. Accordions are one of Palmi's great passions and he's been selling them at Music Junction for a very long time. Anyone who plays accordion Down Under would have made at least one special 'pilgrimage' to Music Junction a...t 204 Camberwell Road, Hawthorn East and walked up those stairs to try out the numerous accordions in Palmi's 'famous accordion room' often referred to as 'accordion heaven!' Surely, there's no place in Australia with more accordions of any kind in one place than Palmi's famous accordion room! This interview was recorded 'off the cuff' and is unedited, so please forgive me if I rambled on a bit too much! Palmi offers some great words of advice and wisdom for all aspiring accordionists and musicians in general. It was an absolute honour to speak with Palmi and we thank him for all his support over the years in looking after our accordion students with honest advice and great old fashioned service. We wish him and Music Junction all the very best with many more years of success.

03.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE TO STUDENTS AND PARENTS REGARDING LESSONS IN TERM 4 UNDER CURRENT COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS. Online lessons will continue under the current Covid-19 restrictions for the foreseeable future. We'll continue to monitor the situation over the next few weeks. It's hoped by everyone that stage 4 restrictions regarding travel restrictions and how many people are permitted to gather are gradually eased depending on the situation regarding Covid-19 numbers. We'll inform y...ou as soon as we can resume giving face to face lessons in the teaching studio under very strict social distancing and hygiene conditions once the Department of Health and Human Services gives us official clearance for this to be permitted. Can all students and parents please ensure that the camera of your device is positioned in such a way that we can clearly see your hands. This is absolutely vital for teaching correct hand position and fingering techniques during online lessons. Thankyou for your wonderful support and understanding in this regard.
