21.01.2022 #NAIDOC2020 We have so many great NAIDOC posts to share this week, be sure to keep an eye on our pages.

17.01.2022 Today a group of our Kindy 1&2 children attended the Midland community NAIDOC celebrations. We ate bush tucker, added our hand prints to the mural and enjoyed some traditional music and dance. Polka had a great time and was a willing participant in all activities.

17.01.2022 Head over to the Midvale Hub Parenting Service page to see what they have coming up in your area. https://www.facebook.com/midvalehub/

16.01.2022 Celebrating cultural inclusion with Diwali. Children watched the Diwali story before participating in lantern making, making diyas-candle holders, creating rangoli drawings and firework paintings. Thank you to the staff who provided our beautiful sari and dresses for today.

15.01.2022 What a week Polka has had! We have had many intentionally planned experiences as part of our NAIDOC celebrations both within and outside of the service. Our educators have set up some wonderful experiences to support children’s learning of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and language. This is an element of our curriculum that is embedded across our term plans and through our strong connection with community. We are fortunate to have Shanigha, who is ou...r Cultural Inclusion Champion. She works closely with our Educators to support their planning, as well as with a variety of people and organisations outside of the service to enhance cultural inclusion and connection across our service. #thekooricurriculum #naidocweek2020 See more

12.01.2022 Our Reconciliation Action Plan display takes pride of place in our service, as this is a journey we are on together. Each time we progress or complete an action we add to our display to celebrate and share our achievements. The display provides a beautiful visual reference to our commitment to reconciliation.

10.01.2022 National Quality Standard 3.2.2 covers; ‘resources, materials and equipment allowing for multiple uses, being sufficient in number, and enabling every child to engage in play based learning’. Our learning environments have been getting a lot of attention over recent months, including the addition of some wonderful, new resources. Take a look at our latest deliveries

07.01.2022 Pause for one minute’s silence At 11am today, we ask you to observe a minute’s silence to remember the service men and women who have served and continue to ser...ve our nation. Although Remembrance Day is different this year, the Australian War Memorial’s website includes different ways to help us commemorate wherever we are at home, school or work. www.awm.gov.au/werememberthem #WeRememberThem #RemembranceDay

05.01.2022 || NAIDOC WEEK 2020 - ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS WILL BE || To welcome us into NAIDOC Week local elder Herbert has performed a smoking ceremony in the Yarnin...g Circle at Sculpture Park. A smoking ceremony is an ancient aboriginal custom in Australia that involves burning various native plants to produce smoke, which has cleansing properties and the ability to ward off bad spirits from the people and the land and make pathway for a brighter future. We have so many great NAIDOC Week posts to share throughout this week, so be sure to keep an eye on our socials! #NAIDOCWeek2020 #NAIDOC2020 NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee) Week #ShireofMundaring #community #smokingceremony #Yarningcircle #alwayswasalwayswillbe
