25.01.2022 Well done to our Mid-Weekers!

25.01.2022 Thanks to James Mitchell for putting on the event at Bergins Hill this week! Sounds like everyone had a great time! :D https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #orienteering #midweekmaps #MidWeekO

25.01.2022 Thanks to Jim for this weeks event at Chermside Hills. :D Good to have some new people come to the event, we hope to see them again! This is a tricky map, lots of tracks and water courses that can lead you astray if youre not careful, (I speak from personal experience!) ;) As you would expect from the name its quite hilly in parts so good route choice was important, as you needed to decide if a shorter distance is worth go over a big hill! There were a lot of wallabies in ...the area, always nice to see, especially as this bush is surrounded by houses. There is also a large amount of grass tress, more than on any other map Ive been on! There are so many in some places that they can pose quite an obstacle! :) This Thursday will be another MapRun event, this time over at the Grange. Hope to see you there! :) #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps See more

24.01.2022 Well after a long and hot summer, Mid Week is finally back next week! Our first event will be at Daisy Hill on the 5th of March. More details in the link below, a reminder that all the start times are now 10.30am. This has been the unofficial start time for a while but its now the official one ;). Hope to see you all there.! :D https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/Show/9707 #MidWeekO #Orienteering #Sports

23.01.2022 Thanks to Jim and Rhonda for putting on the event at Downey park last week! :) They must have set a record with the amount of events put on in a single year! A good event for beginners and people wanting to get in some last minute training before the QLD Champs! This week will be our special event in celebration of Rob Simson's chair being placed in Toohey Forest. Make sure to pre-enter before Wednesday! See you there! :D https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #orienteering #MidWeekO #midweekmaps #sports

23.01.2022 Sad News. Stay safe everyone.

23.01.2022 Thanks to Chris Spriggs for setting the event this week at Bardon! It was a short commute for Chris as he lives on the map! :D Good courses, not too long as Bardon is quite steep in parts! Next week is a Park event at Kenmore, pre-enter would be very much appreciated but not essential. :) https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/Show/10252 #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps

22.01.2022 Thanks to Jim for setting the event at Bunyaville. :) We havent been to this area for quite a while so it was a first for many. Although steep it was clear so good for running. ;) Jim often sets challenging courses in Bunyaville, this time he was able to get the right balance between tricky and fun! :D https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps

22.01.2022 Thanks to Rhonda for setting the courses for this weeks event at Upper Kedron. And to Jim for helping to put it on. #orienteering #MidWeekO #sports #midweekmaps https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList

21.01.2022 Easter 2020 has been cancelled. It is regrettable but in light of what is happening with Covid-19 it was unavoidable. All competitors will be contacted shortly with more detailed information.

21.01.2022 Merry Xmas Everyone! Have a great day!

21.01.2022 Thanks to the Chatfields for setting the courses at the event this week. :) We haven't started at this side of the map very often so it makes for a good challenge! :D Great to have nearly 40 people come to the event. I'm glad the hot weather didn't keep people away! https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #orienteering #midweekmaps #MidWeekO #sports

19.01.2022 Our 2nd event of 2020 this week, and our 1st ever Mid Week event to be held at Yeronga Park! :D Thanks to Judi & Karyn for running the event and setting the courses! Unfortunately the weather wasnt as cooperative as it had been last week so some people did get a bit wet! For something different we made the Long course a combination of the Short and Medium courses, hopefully everyone enjoyed the change! :) Yeronga Park is one of the oldest parks in Brisbane and has quite an interesting history thats worth reading about, :D you can find more at the wikipedia page: (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yeronga_Memorial_Park) Results are below, next week we will be at Minnippi Parklands. https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps

19.01.2022 A fun Park event this week at Wally Tate Park. Thanks to Neil for setting the courses here, he has set here for Mid Week a number of time but still finds way to make fun courses! :) And tough courses for the Long! ;) It was great to have 30 people come despite the weather threatening to rain at any moment! I think everyone was able to complete their course without getting soaked! :) Next week will be a Map Run event at Mercer Park. Even if you dont have a phone you can still compete in the event, hope to see you there! :D https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps #Sports

18.01.2022 A very hot day on Thursday! Thanks to the Greg and Geraldine Chatfield for setting the courses at Plunkett Hills! :D We dont use this map too often so it was good to revisit it! Despite the heat it was a great event! :) https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList

18.01.2022 We had our second last event for the year, at Stockyard Creek South. A big thanks to the Chatfields for setting the course. They have done a lot of events this year! :D A cooler day made for a better event than a couple of weeks ago! ;) Weve used the Stockyard Creek Map before but have never started from this location before so it was quite interesting to see the map from a different side! :) Some areas looked quite different! Next week is our Break-Up event at Seven Hills! Hope to see you there! :) https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps #Sports

17.01.2022 Happy Birthday to all!

16.01.2022 Thanks to first time course setters Fiona and Richard for putting the event on this week! :D Fiona did a fantastic job setting a very fun Map Memory at Pine Rivers Park. A map memory event can seem daunting at first, especially if you havent done it before! ;) But as everyone finds out it is actually not too hard and is very interesting and a good challenge! Pine Rivers is a good park, nice and flat, without too many complicated areas. It would be a bit tricky to do a memory... event on a complicated bush map! Great weather again this week, and no wind so extra nice! Well miss these days when the heat and humidity returns! One unlucky (lucky?! ) competitor saw a snake on their course! No doubt that improved their time by quite a bit, it would mine! Next week will be at Anzac Park. https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps See more

16.01.2022 Mid Week is back! :) I hope everyone has kept safe and healthy during our extend break! We are starting up again this week at Bunyaville West, details in the link below: https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/Show/10072 Due to Covid-19 there are some restrictions, it will only be open to the first 19 people who pre-enter, currently 16 people have entered so there are only a few spots left! You can find more info about the new guidelines, at the link below:... https://oq.orienteering.asn.au//covid_19_guidelines_for_or Hope to see you there! :D #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO

16.01.2022 Chris Spriggs has been coordinating Thursday events for about 18 years, and now feels that it is time to step back a bit. He is very pleased to announce that James Mitchell has kindly agreed to take over as Mid Week Coordinator, as from now. Thank you Chris for all your hard work! :) Orienteering Queensland

15.01.2022 Well Chris and Robin deserve another huge thanks as they set this weeks event as well as last week! A lot of work for them but it is very much appreciated by us all. Weve been on this map before but Chris sent us to a different area that weve only used once before so it almost felt like a new map! :D Mostly flat but there is a spot on the map that can be quite tricky, watercourses and tracks to confuse you if your not careful! It was great to have so many people attend the event, over 40! :) Its always wonderful having new people come along and try the sport we love so much! Next week we will be at Upper Kedron, hope to see you there! :) https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps

15.01.2022 Thanks to Rhonda Bowling for setting the courses at Chermside Hills on Thursday! :D It was another hot day! The courses were a lot of fun! :D Also Happy Birthday to Chris! And thanks to Robin for bringing a cake, it was delicious! https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps

15.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who came along to our event at Gordon Park. :D I hope everyone had fun! Great to see some new faces, we hope to see them again! :) Hopefully people are getting used to MapRun, as an organiser its great to be able to sit down and chat with everyone without having to worry about going out again to pick up controls. :D https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps

14.01.2022 It was great weather on Thursday, a perfect way to restart Orienteering after our long break! :D Hope everyone enjoyed being able to get back into the bush! Thanks to Jim for setting the courses, as usual with Jim and Bunyaville, they were very good, as well as being nice and challenging! :) Next week will be at Bardon, pre-entry is encouraged, which you can do below: https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/Show/10242 See you all there!... #Orienteering #MidWeekO #Sports #MidWeekMaps

13.01.2022 James Mitchell set some great courses on Thursday at Opossum Creek! :D A big thanks for his hard work! :) The course was a lot of fun, challenging without turning into a slog! Its a good bush area, hilly in parts and some of the water courses are quite deep making for good route choice as you had to decide to either go around or slide down! ;) Thankfully there wasnt much water in the water courses so once you got into them you could follow them along! Although there were so...me dark clouds, the rain was kind enough to hold off! Despite looking I wasnt able to find out why the creek is called Opossum, I think at the very least it should be called Possum Creek! :) Next week will be at Clear Mountain, a map we havent used for a while so I hope you can all make it! https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps #Sports

13.01.2022 A good event this week on a classic bush map. Mt-Coot-tha Ghost Hole Gold Mine is a good spot to really test your skills! Thankfully the weather stayed nice, no rain this time! No ghosts or gold to be found but there were plenty of hills and gullies! :D Thanks to Phil Scott for setting the courses, the Short was good, not too difficult, and on the Long and Medium he took them into some parts that aren't used as much, which is always fun! Next week is another classic bush map, Stockyard Creek South, make sure to pre-enter! :) See you there! https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps #Sports #Orienteering

13.01.2022 Another hot day this Thursday! But us orienteers wont let heat and humidity stop us! ;) Thanks to Neil for setting the courses, we have been to Beryl Roberts Park before but Neil was still able to make them fun and challenging! The leg between 7 & 8 on the Long in particular caused some debate! :) Which way would you have gone? Great to have a couple of new people come along, hope to see them again soon! :D https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps

13.01.2022 Great weather for our event at Kenmore this week! :D Although we have used this map before we started from a different spot so it felt like a new map! :) Thanks to John Cooper for setting the courses, Moggill Creek runs right the map and is difficult to cross except in certain parts so John made sure to use that to its full advantage particularly for the Long course! He was a little disappointed that nobody had to DNF! ;) Make sure to pre-enter for next weekss event at Opossum Creek, its not mandatory but helps saves time at the event! :) https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps #Sports

12.01.2022 We had our first event for 2020 on Thursday and it went great! A big thanks to the Chatfields for setting the courses at Daisy Hill! They are often too busy to come to Mid Week but they set multiple events throughout the year and we are always very grateful! Daisy Hill is a nice bush map, steep in parts but not too overgrown so a good place to start the year off. We also had a good time with the weather, despite threatening to rain it was good enough to hold off! Also for any one who is curious the name Daisy Hill was first used to describe the area in 1905, referring to many native daisies that grow in the area. :) Next week will be at Yeronga Park. https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps

11.01.2022 Ive done it myself, this is a lot of fun!

09.01.2022 Thanks to Sue and Walter for setting the event this week! Another bush event this time on a map that hasnt been used very often, always a treat! :) The courses were good, took full advantage of the terrain, which was quite steep, its not called Clear Mountain for nothing! :) At lest it was quite clear for the most part! ;) Next week is a Park event at Wally Tate Park. Nice and flat ha ha! :D https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps

08.01.2022 Happy New Year! I hope everyone has another great year of Orienteering! :D And a great year in general! ;)

08.01.2022 Ugly Gully life member Barbara Pope is has just turned 80! We’re planning a little celebration for Barb at Mid-Week orienteering this Thursday, 27 May, at Bergins Hill and we’d love to see you there. More information below, please pre-enter if you can. https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/Show/15823 Orienteering Queensland Ugly Gully Orienteers

08.01.2022 Thanks to Ingo and Alix for running the event this week! :) It was Ingos first time setting courses, he did a great job, there was no complaining which is always a good sign! :D Great weather except for the wind . Ingo and Alix got a good work out just trying to stop it from blowing the maps and sign and computer cover away! We had some first timers come this week, I hope that they had fun and that well see them again soon! We are always happy to have new people come and give Orienteering a go! :D Also Happy Birthday to Walter, whose birthday was on Thursday! Next week will be a Map Memory at Pine Rivers Park. https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #orienteering #sports #midweekmaps #MidWeekO

07.01.2022 This weeks event was at Anzac Park, an oldie but a goodie! :D Thanks to Chris and Robin for putting the event on! A different starting area meant that we got to run on parts of the map that we dont use as often so that was a lot of fun! :) Robin set the courses, there was some good route choice and a nice mix of Bush and Street! Great to have some new people come along! Anzac Park can be a bit of a tricky map, especially when your starting out, it has a lot of tracks that can be confusing in parts but hopefully everybody had a good time! Next week will be a Park and Street event at Fig Tree Pocket. :) https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps #Sports

06.01.2022 Just a quick post to say that I hope everyone is doing ok! :) I hope yourre all staying safe and finding things to do while in lockdown! Hopefully things can get back to normal soon!

06.01.2022 Had to share this unique map!

04.01.2022 Matt and Judi put on this weeks event at Mecer Park - but dont let the name mislead you! There was no mercy for the Long course! ;) It was an unusually warm winters day, another great day to be in QLD! Fitness and fun were the watchwords of the day! :D We used MapRun for this event, there was some trepidation before the event but I think everyone had a good time, it certainly makes it easier for the organizsrs! :) Thanks to Jason for bring the biscuits, they were a great after run treat! :D Make some more next time! ;) Next week is at Chermside Hills. See you there. https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #MidWeekO #MidweekMaps #Sports MapRun

03.01.2022 Thanks to Lauren Baade for putting on the event at Anzac Park. I missed it but I hope it was a lot of fun! Looks like a good turnout! Results below. https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #orienteering #midweekmaps #MidWeekO #sports

03.01.2022 Our final event for the year took place at Seven Hills Reserve this week. It was great event and I hope everyone had a good time! So with Mid-Week being over for another year, so its time once again to thank everyone who helps make Mid-Week happen!:D Thanks to Judi Hay, Karyn Ross and myself ;) for setting the courses for the event and hosting the Christmas Breakup Party again this year! Thanks to Chris and Robin Spriggs for bringing the food for the break-up and for everyt...hing they do throughout the year for Mid Week, without them there would be no Mid Week! Thanks to Nev Cobbold for handing the money side, thanks to John Cooper and myself for taking turns in bringing the computer every week. A big thanks to everyone who volunteered to set courses, particularly the people who set multiple courses, it is always greatly appreciated, its a lot of work but without those volunteers there would be no events! :D A special thanks to the Chatfields and to Andrew Munro, they always set multiple events every year even though they dont have time to do orienteering! :) And finally thanks to everyone for coming along! Weve had quite a few new people come this year, which is great, and we hope to see them in the new year. We will start up again March 2020, and I hope to see everyone there! Have a safe and Merry Xmas. #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList See more

03.01.2022 It was a fantastic event on Thursday, with over 60 people coming to our special event to celebrate the beautiful new seat that has been erected in Toohey Forest as a memorial to former president of Toohey Forest Orienteering Club and Toohey Forest Protection Society, Rob Simson. :D A big thanks to Geoff Peck who put in a lot of work to get the seat put up and who also drew a special map for the event which had a nice picture of the seat on it as well! A great lunch was put on..., thanks to all the people who volunteered and helped out! :) It was also the Mid Week Champs, so well done to everyone who got a prize, thanks to Jim for providing them! The only bad thing about the day was the weather which wasn’t too accommodating, it did rain a bit! One interest of Rob’s was the identification of species of trees and all 3 courses also visited the tree Rob called The Patriarch, probably the largest and oldest tree in Toohey Forest. It also had a special symbol in the map legend! I'm sure that people will be able to use Rob's seat to enjoy Toohey Forest as much as he did from his favorite spot. https://eventor.orienteering.asn.au/Events/ResultList #Orienteering #Sports #MidWeekO #MidWeekMaps See more

02.01.2022 The Lockdown Lego Orienteering Championships were held in sunny Brisbane, Qld today. Event photos are posted for your enjoyment. Orienteering Queensland Orienteering Australia
