14.01.2022 So good to see this forward thinking. We all need to be thinking about choosing appliances run on electricty over gas.
14.01.2022 Grandparents glue themselves to Chevron to protest climate emergency Four grandparents glued themselves to the inside of the foyer at QV1, the building that ho...uses Perth's Chevron offices, with 'No Gas' written on their palms. Three were arrested. Additional grandparents outside were arresting for committing trespass. All were arrested to bring attention to the climate and ecological emergency, and Chevron's role in it. More than 30 grandparents were in attendance. The activists are part of Extinction Rebellion's grandparents group, and are acting because they fear for the future of their grandchildren. XRWA Grandparents spokesperson, Les Harrison, 74, retired psychologist and former Principal Clinical Consultant at the Ministry of Justice, says: Chevron must wind down its activities now. There is no time, nor need, for a gas-led transition to renewables. The technology and resources needed for a green recovery are already available. The government and companies such as Chevron must listen to the 80% or more of the population who want carbon pollution to stop now. I don’t want to die not knowing whether the Earth will survive, or without knowing that my beloved grandchildren are going to be safe. 69-year-old Rae Price fears for the future of her two grandchildren. She says: I've chosen to do this because I'm desperate. We have state and federal governments that won’t accept their responsibility and are in climate change denial. It's intolerable that vested interests shape climate decisions. Why are mining companies not taxed? Why are we not aiming for zero emissions? Retired scientist-academic, Neville Bruce, 77, who will be involved in the protest, says: I have ten grandchildren. I passionately want to leave a beautiful world for them and for all of humanity, not the one that we are currently hellbent on cooking for them. I am acutely aware that our generation has threatened their future through rapacious exploitation of fossil fuels. But I am also convinced that we grandparents, working together with so many other marvellous groups, can and must help resolve the climate emergency we have created. Chevron is a mighty oil and gas conglomerate with massive economic and political power. It could continue to be a world leader in advancing catastrophic global warming. Or, it could, with its massive funds, track record and expertise, be a major player in what must be a major shift to renewable energy. 65-year-old grandfather to two, Alan Hayden, says: I have always been a law-abiding citizen, but this is an emergency. Our climate is being devastated by fossil fuels. Chevron’s huge carbon footprint is a major contributor. Yet the federal government and gas corporations like Chevron are hell-bent on ramping up production of fossil fuels with their gas-led recovery. I cannot stand by while these climate arsonists destroy my grandchildren’s future. Join us xrwa.earth See more

09.01.2022 The WA government is too close to the gas industry and this is why WA is the only state with rising emissions. Well done on your research 350 Perth. The ministerial diaries, obtained through freedom of information requests by 350 Perth, showed nearly 140 instances since 2017 where the Premier and ministers met with gas companies or lobby groups including the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association and the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA.
04.01.2022 Northampton's climate change story (tip: it's the same as the rest of southern WA). Long term rainfall decline and lots of below average #ClimateEmergency

03.01.2022 A big shout out to Triskele Bodycrafts. So great to see a place in Gero where you can refill your own containers with natural products without getting funny looks! We stocked up on bubble bath, hand sanitiser and my little one even got to make his own bath salts! The one shop I don’t have to ask for no plastic packaging. Even receipts are just sent to your phone if you want one.
