21.01.2022 Six days to go! In less than a week the MIFLAS masterclass with Graham Johnson will be on its way to explore once more the world of Lieder and Art Song. In two three-hour sessions each day Professor Johnson and the 16 ensembles will focus this year on the works of Schubert/Schumann and Fauré/Poulenc. MIFLAS in 2019 is being hosted by the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School, an arts training school with a specialist music focus. All masterclasses and the two concert...s will be held in the school recital room. The School has an onsite Cafe that will be open for most of the week for coffee and lunch. The Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School is one of the world’s most unique performing arts schools and provides a nationally and internationally recognised specialist program for the training of talented young dancers, musicians, theatre and visual artists. ... 01.01.2022 **Tickets For MIFLAS Recitals Now Available** Don’t miss your chance to witness the finest emerging singers and pianists from around Australia and the region working with the doyen of song pianists, Graham Johnson OBE at the Melbourne International Festival of Lieder and Art Song between June 30 and July 5. Graham Johnson OBE is Senior Professor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and was the first pianist to record the complete songs of Schubert. He has subs...equently written seminal books on the songs of Schubert, Fauré and Poulenc and has recorded extensively for Hyperion records most of the core song repertoire with the finest artists of our time. There are eight public masterclasses over four days where Professor Johnson will coach these fine artists in music by Schubert, Schumann, Fauré and Poulenc. Witness the magic combination of text, music and performance come alive at the hands of this master teacher. Visitors to the classes can purchase day tickets for AUD 10 at the door, pre-registrations are not required. Two public recitals will present the classes achievements in the mid week concert on Wednesday, July 3, with all festival performers, and in the gala concert on Friday, July 5, featuring Graham Johnson at the piano.
