24.01.2022 Due to some unforseen circumstances I won't be starting back this year as quick as planned (originally the 7th). Please hang tight and I will get back to everyone as soon as I possibly can.

22.01.2022 Bring on 2020!! Goals: Work Hard, Ride Harder! Looking forward to another great year

21.01.2022 Hi everyone! If anyone is in need of a larger size companion horse, I have a wonderful tb looking for a long term lease. If you or anyone you know is looking please get in contact

18.01.2022 My aim as a farrier is to make your horse's experience as positive and as stress free as possible. I am happy to slow the process down to allow more anxious or untrusting horses a chance to understand what is going on. The older horses that are not as flexible as they once were, I will use a low stand to allow your horse to not have to stretch so high and take a few short breaks if your horse needs to rest. I will always greet your horse before starting and praise it during i...t's trim/shoeing to encourage positive behaviour for future visits and end it with pats and scratches (which most love). But I need owners help to best prepare your horse for this positive experience. Teach them to stand still, willingly pick up and hold all four feet (yes you have to pick up your horses hind feet, if it kicks I don't think I'm going to want to work on it either). Some horses can struggle with the concept of standing on three legs, so make sure they have had lots of practice and body work if you think your horse is uncomfortable. Discourage undesirable behaviour otherwise your horse may continue to be difficult for future visits. If your horse struggles at farrier time, reach out and ask what you can do to promote a successful visit.

16.01.2022 Just a few days to go until this page is no longer active. Make sure you have liked and are following our new Allied Farriers page and have our new contact number.

Just keep horses in an easily assessable area. If you must be present, minimally handle your horse. Tie horse/s up and maintain social distancing at all times min 1.5m. No difficult horses will be done during this time. If you are unwell at all, reschedule! We will be practising appropriate hand washing methods before leaving each booking. Thanks for everyone's understanding Katelin & Richard

15.01.2022 Hi all. We have been extra busy lately! However exciting times lie a head! We have a name! We know we have been a little slack lately with our communications. But we would like to officially announce that we are now trading as "Allied Farriers"... This means that change is afoot! Out with the old, in with the new! (Metaphorically) To get things started we have a super dooper new Facebook page. Please head over to the new Allied Farriers page to check out all the really cool things we have been up to lately. This new page has important information on it in regards to price changes and contact information. Our current pages Mighty Hoof Solutions and Goldfields Farrier Service will remain active until 1/6/20, they will from then on lay dormant. So spread the word! As with the type of work we do, we are rarely able to answer the phone, so please do not ring us, as voicemails and calls will not be answered. Our preferred method of contact is either by text or FB message. Our current numbers will be in operation throughout the transition period but will cease to be contactable after 1/6/20. We have new bank details. If you would like to pay by bank transfer please contact us prior to your next appointment. As mentioned above we have new pricing. This pricing will take effect as of 1st July 2020. Please check these out on the new page. For those that are unaware we are now based in Daylesford. Which makes us more central to the various areas we sevice, however this has put us out of reach of some previously covered areas. Sadly this means we have had to tighten out belt and let go of a few areas. This means that we have had to be much stricter with our booking system doing set locations on set days. Combining means we can service a much greater area, from Ballarat to Bendigo, plus Wallan and surrounds. We encourage everyone to book in advance or feel free to prebook your appointments. We are excited to watch the next chapter of our careers take off, and bring a new take to farriery. Many are not used to this but it has been met with positivity and excitement, for that we are grateful. We look forward to working with you as Allied Farriers.

14.01.2022 I hope everyone survived the heat today. I had the very handy Richard from Goldfields Farrier Service ride with me today to help get all of the days horses done. Thanks again Richard! Hope to collaborate again in the future

14.01.2022 There's no resting yet, it's Hay day!

12.01.2022 In the mad rush leading up to xmas I have sneaked away for a quick trip to South Australia. Reception pending I will try catch up on all messages and I will be back to work on Wednesday.

11.01.2022 And that's it for 2019 (minus a few rescheduled due to the extreme heat today). Thank you everyone for another great year!! I've enjoyed working with many of you to better improve your horse's hoof care. 2019 has been a huge learning curve for me. It's been my first year full time and as a fully servicing farrier. It's been fulfilling, eye opening and hard work. I still have a lot to learn! The last few months have been fast paced and fun, but a little overwhelming.... I have noticed the shortfalls in the business and in more recent times a total lack of work/life balance. I have a million and one things to catch up on and I will be addressing some issues and implementing some new changes. These will help me better operate Mighty Hoof Solutions, and this should only bring better benefits and experiences to current and new clients. Plus take a little pressure off me, which will make me a happier and less stressed farrier . Stay tuned to hear about these changes and exciting things planned for 2020. I am now on some well deserved rest, I am still contactable but will not be frequently checking incoming calls/messages. I will be returning to work on Jan 7th, hopefully well rested and with new goals for 2020. I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I look forward to seeing everyone in 2020.

11.01.2022 I've been a little slack with my social media posts lately with the last mad dash towards Xmas. I can just about see the finish line now . We are in for some shocking heat this week . Which I would normally reschedule as it's awful to work in. But I'll be braving the heat to get the last of everyone's horses done. Please, please be patient with me. I am overbooked and have fallen behind a little on my messages. I will reply when I can, don't worry you haven't been forgotten! Remember I finish up for the year this Friday the 20th, but I will still be contactable during my annual holiday . Take it easy in the heat everyone

11.01.2022 Wishing everyone a very Merry Xmas

09.01.2022 I just want to thank everyone for your ongoing support and following the page as I've grown as a farrier over the last 5 years, I would never of guessed when I started this is where I would be today. But for now it is time to say goodbye to Mighty Hoof Solutions and get excited for a new chapter as Allied Farriers. Please make sure you're following our new page and help spread the word. We have big plans for our new business and we are already doing some really amazing stuff

09.01.2022 Important announcement Due to a confirmed case of coronavirus in our home town, Richard and I have decided that it would be in our best interest and our customers best interest to temporarily suspended business practices. We would like to assure you that Richard and I are both feeling fit and healthy and have no signs of any illness. However we feel that given the infectious nature of this virus, It would be irresponsible for us to continue business as usual until we can... be certain that we are no risk to others. Therefore we are suspending business for 2 weeks as of today 23/3/20 We are currently monitoring the situation closely and will continue to assess conditions as they change. If you have a booking with either myself or Richard please consider it cancelled until further notice. We will re assess, and put further measures in place when we come after the 2 week break. We appreciate your understanding in this matter, this was a decision not made lightly and we understand it will cause disruption to you and your horses. We will do everything in our power to minimize this disruption when we return to work. Regards Katelin and Richard.

08.01.2022 Just want to thank everyone for their patience, some personal circumstances resorted in me having to suddenly step right back from the business and focus on myself. Which means I now have an absolute backlog of messages for bookings . I am slowly working through them all to get everyone back on track. I do apologise for the inconvenience I have caused for alot of people, but I look forward to getting back into it

06.01.2022 Meet my old man Beau. Still young at heart, only turning 20 about a month ago. He means the world to me. I've owned this guy for about 12 years and he really helped me build my confidence in my early days of learning hoof care. And he is still a regular guinea pig for trying new things related to farriery. He had a go at many things in his younger years and we had a lot of fun doing it. Now living the retired life with his mare (who you will meet another day).

04.01.2022 Hi, All. I am back and it's great to be getting into the swing of things again. I am still currently playing catch up after my break, thank you all for your patience so far. I would like to take a moment to thank everyone for your concerned messages I really appreciate your support.... Onto more exciting news! Richard from Goldfields Farrier Service and I are in the process of combining our two businesses. This will create one ultimate farrier service! Working as a team we will be able to provide you with a better, more comprehensive, farrier experience. However! We have a problem. We cannot come up with a name . So we need your help! We are Goldfields Farrier Service & Mighty Hoof Solutions. If you have any ideas on a new name please put them in the comment section. Thank you in advance, Katelin & Richard.

04.01.2022 Over the weekend I challenged myself with something I had never done before. Forge welding an old rasp to a shoe to make a straight bar. A handy skill to have if you have no bar shoes on hand, or a welder. I gave it three attempts as per the photo below (top being my first attempt, second on the left and third on the right). What a challenge . My first attempt did not go well at all. Working out a few quirks my second shoe weld held, but was crooked and not even. My third attempt came out looking the most functional with a strong weld. Still not without issues and plenty of room to improve, I am stoked considering it was something completely new

03.01.2022 IMPORTANT REMINDER AS OF THE 1ST OF JUNE THIS PAGE WILL NO LONGER BE ACTIVE! Please like our new business page ... Allied Farriers! For all your hoof care needs See more
