25.01.2022 NSW have re-opened their state sponsorship program for the 2017- 2018 year. The full list is available here: http://www.industry.nsw.gov.au//nsw-skilled-occupations-li

25.01.2022 Interesting article published today. The department state that the drop is due to toughened integrity measures but the fact is that they dramatically lowered the invites for the SC189 and family sponsored SC489 visa from 31,827 in the 2016/2017 financial year to 16,296 in the 2017/2018 financial year. I would say that this almost 50% drop in invites has a lot to do with the drop in numbers but for some reason the department do not acknowledge this. https://www.sbs.com.au//australia-s-migrant-intake-plummet

09.01.2022 Hello All, After a quick look through the Budget released on Tuesday there seems to be no great changes for the SC189/190/489 General Skilled Migration visas. The overall number remains the same as last year at 190,000 places. The Visa Application Charges (VAC) have increased by CPI ($3,600 to $3,670). Employer sponsored visas have been hit with an annual payment of $1,200 for 457 visas and a one off $3,000 for 186/187 visas for businesses with a turn over of less than $10,...000,000 in addition to their VAC. These funds are to go to a new Skilling Australians Fund. The new temporary sponsored parent visa will be introduced in November 2017, with 15,000 visas to be made available annually - details not yet released.. The existing Parents visas will remain in place. I will let you know if anything else comes to light.

06.01.2022 The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) have announced that from 1 July 2018 the points pass and pool mark for the SC189/190 and 489 visas will be raised from 60 to 65. As the invite mark for the SC189 is currently 75 this will not impact that visa sub class but it will make it a bit harder for the state sponsored visas (SC190/489). 02.01.2022 It seems that the Department have changed the annual migrant intake from a Target to a Cap. Historically the actual number was very close to the target but last year they granted 8,000 less visas than the target and this year it looks like they will fall well short (by as much as 20,000).
