24.01.2022 Creation Story. Winyarr's Business (translates to Women's Business in Yorta Yorta) This piece was created to show a woman's power, a woman's strength and a woman's diversity. One of our beautiful patients gifted Dr Shami this beautiful Aboriginal artwork created by the artist Maddy Connors as it spoke to her during her journey back to health. Aboriginal art is centred around story telling and this NAIDOC week, we want to acknowledge this beautiful artwork symbolising a women's strength. 14.01.2022 The date is quickly approaching when we can return to near normal elective surgery lists. September 28 2020 sees lists booked to 75% capacity. This means that of all the lists that our surgeons have over a rolling four weeks, they will be able to fill them all to 3/4 capacity. This allows for a degree of availability should the public system be overwhelmed. Plans are to return to 85% by 26 October and full capacity by 23 November 20.

13.01.2022 Migynae celebrates with the rest of Victoria on our collective achievement in having so many of the covid restrictions eased. Our allocation of theatre list capacity has returned to 100% which gives us the freedom to again place all our patients for surgery without the agony of delay. Our Malvern consulting suites daily sanitation protocols remain in place and we are all still required to wear a mask but more consulting will return to the rooms and our Essendon location is set to reopen. So that is great news for our Western suburbs patients.

10.01.2022 Jadie Hunter came to MIGYNAE in February 2020 after a long and painful endometriosis journey. She formed a strong bond with Dr Shami Kathursinghe who has guided her and supported her to its conclusion. 09.01.2022 Great news, Melbourne metro elective surgery lists go back to 75% capacity on 28 September. What a relief! The easing of restrictions in regional Victoria has played a part, removing some of the pressure on preparedness for large outbreaks. Thank goodness, our practitioners have many permanent theatre lists and that Dr Shami is back from maternity leave. We are looking forward to helping all our lovely patients who have had their surgery delayed and have had to wait, some of them in quite a lot of discomfort and pain. This has been a very difficult thing to experience for both patients and doctors alike. Lets all hope that this is truly the road to recovery.

08.01.2022 With only two weeks to go, it is very comforting to see transmission numbers fall. At Migynae, our practitioners hold a number of scheduled theatre lists across private hospital sites in Melbourne. We will be well placed to meet the backlog of demand that all Victorians are going to experience once theatres become available for elective surgery again.

07.01.2022 Dear Patients, please be advised that Glenferrie Road is closed to all traffic today and for the rest of the week due to tram works. If you have an appointment, it’s best to park somewhere near the corner of Malvern and Glenferrie Road so you can access our side of the street. If High street is closer, you can park near that intersection to access our side of Glenferrie Road also. Please allow yourself extra time to park as everywhere is very crowded.

If you have been in an infected area or been in close contact with someone who has been in an infected area, and are required to self isolate, please do not attend your appointment with us. We are happy to make arrangements to conduct your appointment via Telehealth and you certainly won't be charged for having to cancel an onsite appointment that is already booked.
