24.01.2022 Laila and Mike having a go at the advanced challenges of the shooting section of the BB&B camp
22.01.2022 the wattles and wild flowers where out all through the scrub last week. some we haven't seen for some time. the spur winged wattle and lilies only flower in wet years with wet winters and warm springs
20.01.2022 While looking for Thunderbolts hideout I pushed into some very interesting country. I hiked into the bluff from the north and found some very features. Not the sort of country you want to head into unprepared and good boots are essential
18.01.2022 Due to the current travel restrictions and developing COVid 19 situation. We have made the difficult decision to close Mi-Hi to all hunting groups. While we appreciate we are in an area that is very remote and you are unlikely to get COVid 19 from us, we do not know who you have been in contact with for the last 2 weeks. We value our families health too much to take the risk. We look forward to catching up with everyone after this threat has passed.
17.01.2022 Some of the hogs off our cameras over the last few months. as the water disappeared so did the hogs. A single lone boar feed at the new feeder every night until the water went then disappeared.
13.01.2022 We pulled most of our cameras during the recent Covid shutdown except for 2 on a small plateau where no one could get to them because the track got washed out. We set up a feeder in January at this spot. It took the pigs 2 weeks to find it before they started coming every night. The feeder was empty in March but the pigs have kept coming on the off chance there may have been a feed available.
13.01.2022 What's this? If you answered a hole in a rock; you'd only be partly right. It's a wildlife mineral lick. How long do you think it has taken the wildlife that vist this spot each day to make it? We've got photos of roos, wallabies, wallaroos, possums, echidnas, goats and pigs all using this lick.
13.01.2022 When we first bought Mi-Hi and Arizona 38 years ago we were told that a bluff on the western side of Arizona was called Thunderbolts Bluff because of the cave Captain Thunderbolt the bushranger used to hide out in. We've never been able to locate it. Rumour had it that a bucket of horseshoes was found in it in the 70's After coming onto the top of the Bluff last year from a new direction a possible location for the cave was seen. 18 months later and 2 days of searching, 10k...m of climbing and hiking, the cave has been located again. It certainly qualifies as a "hideout", you can't see it from anywhere but on top of the Bluff, can ride a horse to it and its big enough to camp in for quite a while. You can walk within 50 metres of it and not know it's there. A big rock fall has occurred at the entrance in the last 50 or so years blocking part of the cave and obscuring the best part in front of the cave for a fire place. See more
11.01.2022 The Hut has been lonely out on the banks of Connor's Creek during the recent Covid closures and shutdown. Conditions have also completely changed from January. Now available for hunters with the correct training. We've installed some solar powered lighting in the hut and out on the verandah to make life a little easier.
10.01.2022 Thunderbolts hideout cave
09.01.2022 That soothing sound of water
09.01.2022 What a difference a month makes
09.01.2022 Toothy hog from last week
08.01.2022 Just in from Mi-Hi today
08.01.2022 Just add water. What a difference from shearing in November to today.
05.01.2022 some boars off the cameras at one of our sites . Good to see some daylight activity
04.01.2022 Some of the waterfalls at Mi-Hi over the past month.
03.01.2022 Some goats and other wildlife off our cameras. from before the rains.
02.01.2022 Another successful Boars, Billie's and Burpees camp. Laila and Mike were put through the shooting section on the first morning then hunted for 1 1/2 days. Current conditions made the hunting hard and animals scarce. Some goats were encountered in spots impossible to get to eventually a small mob was found but confusion over identity made a clean shot unachievable and they got away unscathed.
01.01.2022 We've turned the corner. Feed for miles. Grass in spots we've never seen it.
