23.01.2022 Community, Councillors, Staff and Contractors celebrating all the amazing work done out of Clifton Hill Depot. Worm farms, electric blowers, recycling info, big trucks, street sweepers and more. If you missed it today, check out Yarra news for the next one.

21.01.2022 At Yarra’s Depot Open Day today I met one of the team now using electric leaf blowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers and lawn mowers in our open spaces. Travis told me that he’s stoked not to be going home smelling of petrol. Residents love the fact that these tools aren’t as noisy. And we are ALL grateful to know that with our use of 100% renewable energy, these have zero emissions.

12.01.2022 Please offer your captions for this photo. If you turn up tomorrow, the winner gets a special journey into the mysteries of waste and recycling in Yarra. It’s a bottomless bin you know, goes all the way to China!

10.01.2022 I’m scared shitless that the future of our planet is not being taken seriously by either major party because it’s not being taken seriously by many Australians.... That’s why I’m riding my bike to Climate for Change this morning, and why I’m asking you to support our work by making a donation: https://c4c2019.raisely.com/mikemcevoy-2019 please help make every day a #ClimateElection. 06.01.2022 A note to the Yarra Community: I am excited to announce that I have accepted a position at Climate for Change, an independent not-for-profit whose mission is to create the social climate in Australia for effective action on Climate Change. But there’s sad news too. To ensure the independence of Climate for Change, I am required to stand down from my elected position at Yarra City Council. I’m proud of what we have been able to achieve as a Council over the past two and a half... years. I feel blessed to have worked alongside passionate community volunteers on numerous advisory committees and I am grateful for my colleagues on Council for their collaboration, integrity and passion. I am especially proud of Council’s commitment to urgent action after our declaration of climate emergency in February 2017. Momentum is building within the organisation. But to support the level of change required, Councils and Governments of all levels need more vocal support from our community when it comes to climate action. That’s why the work of Climate for Change is so important. I don’t make this decision lightly. I recognise that my responsibility to represent the people of Nicholls Ward will now be held by someone else, and I hope that they stand for the same values and policies that motivated people to elect me. I trust that the people of Yarra will hold them to account. Thank you to all those who have supported me before and during my time on Council. Thanks to community members who have spoken up to help make our world a better place. My spoken statement will be on the Council website when tonight’s Council Meeting recording is published.
