22.01.2022 12 things I learned while traveling in the USA these past 7 weeks. 1. Waze has a brilliant avoid freeways setting - you can not see much of the real America from a freeway. 2. Pay by credit card, tip with cash, double the tax is about 15% which is about the correct amount to tip.... 3. Renting a car, staying in AirBnBs is way cheaper than hiring an RV (motorhome). 4. At 65mph a 30ft RV with a V10 Motor for a full day, consumes about $100 worth a fuel. 5. Its not easy to go shopping in a 30ft RV. 6. Nearly all their radio/TV advertising directs you to a website (used to be a phone number), which most rattled off too quickly to understand. 7. Many Apps are advertised in traditional media, something Australians rarely see, hence our belief that its all about Social Media and Online Marketing. 8. I went from one side of the USA to the other, remote and citys - for data I had 3 Sims, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon. Verizon was the best for coverage and speed. 9. The General Media are no longer reporting they are commenting. What they are saying seems different than what most people, I met, believe. 10. They either love or hate Trump (I met nobody who was unsure). 11. Whilst they push (are very focussed) China and Russia as the enemy, its their own who actually cause most of the issues. Like, its emerging that most of the digital election disruption has come from their own political groups. The majority of the actual terrorist looking events on USA soil has been their own crazys. 12. They still persist in loving their Guns. The attitude is extreme. 13. The Illegal immigrant situation is amazing. Everyone knows who they are, many employers employ them specifically on seriously low wages, government support like Health caters for them - theres lots of noise about it all, but very little practical action being taken or planned to actually address the situation. I suspect their economy, which is already questionable, would definitely tank if they didnt have the low wages of the Illegals. That would be the elephant in the room. 14. Snow is cute but after a few weeks warm weather is way more appealing. I was in the USA to visit friends and spread the word about my Philippine business learning tour. Offshoring (the hiring of low wage but highly educated people in other Countries) is rapidly growing within the smaller businesses of Western World Countries like Australia, UK and the USA. This, in itself is an area of new business opportunities. Currently about 3 million Filipinos work in the Philippines for Western Businesses. This number is growing rapidly. 05.01.2022 Start-ups particularly in online: In the Philippines, using low cost solutions - Im seeing a distinctive upswing in building the entire team, Management, Coders, Marketers, Customer Support to Admin in an Office Based situation. The trend is to cash flow fund it up as the business moves from development to customer acquisition to full on ramp up. This is really cutting the initial costs of Tech based Start-ups.
