15.01.2022 Hi Families, There were some significant developments last week relating to the Australian Governments support package for the early childcare sector. The package announced on Thursday last week is temporarily replacing the existing childcare subsidy system with a new payment system. This, coupled with the Jobkeeper package previously announced, is designed to ensure that Centres can keep operating and families who still need to have their kids attending childcare, will rec...eive this service without any out of pocket fee expense. We are still working through the finer details and what it means for the Centre financially, but what we know at the moment is: It does mean that families as of today (Monday 6th April) will not have any gap fee. You are still required to sign your child in and out if attending At this stage is only until the 28th June, but we understand it may be extended through until September and we will keep you posted about this. On Thursday you will still receive an invoice that is for the week 30th March 3rd April this must be paid as the gap free period starts from the 6th April. For those families that currently have a bill or are on a payment plan, you must continue to pay off this amount. Amanda and I will be working with you to try and get the amount owing to zero by 30th June. Some families have also requested if they can still contribute to their account so they get in front for the rest of the year and of course that is perfectly fine. I also wanted to say thank you to you in advance for your patience, while we understand this is a much needed relief for our MRECC community, we appreciate your understanding while we endeavour to ensure we have all the correct information out to you all.

13.01.2022 Yayyyy its Friday... Were with you Cowboys !!!!

13.01.2022 Hi Families, Welcome to another weekly update, hope this finds you all well. This weeks communication is just about reinforcing some measures that the centre has imposed in line with government guidelines as we combat the COVID-19 virus. As part of our contingency plan in hoping to keep us all healthy we are asking families to do the following, as per the department of health guidelines:... Encourage children to wash hands with soap and water or use the sanitiser every morning you attend the centre. Parents are encouraged to use the hand sanitiser when entering and/or leaving the centre. You are welcome to use the hand basins in the staff toilets if would prefer hand soap and water. If your child is unwell, please do not send them to the Centre. Children experiencing any high temperatures will be sent home immediately. We do not intend to administer Panadol at the Centre during this COVID-19 and Influenza season. Children experiencing high temperatures at home will not be brought to the centre and parents will notify the centre of their absence as soon as practicable. Educate children to cover your cough and sneeze, dispose of tissues appropriately. As you are all aware the COVID-19 health crisis is changing every day, and some cases hour by hour. We are continuing to provide our normal service but will monitor the situation closely and act on recommendations and advice from the relevant health authorities and Government Departments. We have taken steps to ensure continued supplies of all the cleaning products, soaps, sanitisers etc that we need and we would like you to be assured that along with our routine/normal cleaning and disinfecting schedule, staff are taking extra steps to maintain very high hygiene standards. Our cleaner is also going over and above her normal routine, to ensure we are providing a hygienic centre in these testing times. We also appreciate every effort that you are all showing in regards to hygiene. We recognise that this is a stressful time for all, including the children - attached you will find a Department of education information sheet that might help with some ideas on how to discuss the worlds situation if children are starting to ask questions. It is perfectly normal for children to have questions about events that are being covered in the media. We will endeavour to keep you all up to date if anything changes through email and Facebook. And lastly a huge thank you to all the families, especially our executive team, your continued support and understanding during this time has been fantastic and we all appreciate it. The team know we have the best families in the world.

09.01.2022 Today in the Frogs room we have been very busy setting up an ANZAC day area in the front foyer. We have made a special who will you remember? area, along with light up your drive milk bottle candle holders. We are asking you all to write who is the hero of your family Tomorrow we have Amys husband Sam coming between 10-11am to have a visit with us and share a bit about what being in the defence force means. He will be bringing in medals from his deployments, some camo face paint and maybe some ration packs if he can track some down to share with the children.

06.01.2022 What else can I say

05.01.2022 Hi Families, Firstly, let me start by thanking all of you for your support and understanding over the last couple of weeks as we continue to cope with the ever changing COVID-19 situation. I understand that you might still have lots of questions or concerns so I am going to try and maybe answer a couple that have been brought to my attention in the hope that it might help some more of you if you have been thinking about similar questions. * At the moment the Australian Go...vernment has decided that schools will remain open, this therefore is an indicator that we will remain open as well. At this stage, we do not have any further information about the potential for a forced closure of the centre. * If we are forced to close you will not be charged any fees, as CCS will not be payable either * While we remain open, if you choose to self isolate, or keep children at home for a day or two or even longer, fees are still required to be paid. I realise that this may be stressful and I am happy to discuss individual circumstances with families. The simple explanation is that we are a not for profit organisation and from a financial point of view, while we are continuing to provide our service, we must continue to charge fees. * If you are likely to experience an impact to your employment or income, remember you can change some details with Centrelink, and might be eligible for a lower CCS percentage. Please talk to myself or Amanda and we can help you navigate through the Centrelink phone call and offer some advice. * We will be using email and Facebook as our communication channels, so in the event of a closure you will be advised through these channels. And we would also use them for updates on opening again. Again thank you all for the support Julia, on behalf of MRECC Staff and Committee

05.01.2022 Hi Families As I'm sure you are all aware, we are having more and more outbreaks in Australia of COVID-19. I just wanted to share with you all our plan and expectations moving forward in an effort to limit any risk to you, your children and centre staff. We are seeking to maintain our normal service as far as possible but recognise this will likely become increasingly challenging over coming weeks. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and act on recommendations a...nd advice from the relevant health authorities and Government Departments. As part of our contingency plan in hoping to keep us all healthy we are asking families to do the following: * Notify the centre of any international travel (prior to departure and again upon return) and follow any applicable recommendations regarding isolation and testing. Please see following link for the country details www.health.gov.au/covid19-travellers * Encourage children to wash hands with soap and water every morning you attend the centre * Parents are encouraged to use the hand sanitiser when entering and/or leaving the centre * If your child is unwell, please do not send them to the Centre * Children experiencing any high temperatures will be sent home immediately. 04.01.2022 Murray Watt - Senator for Queensland and I visited the Mike Reynolds Early Childhood Centre in Townsville to thank essential workers for supporting families dur...ing this crisis. We know that childcare workers are overwhelmingly women and they will lose JobKeeper support on July 20. The Morrison Government needs to develop a plan to better support female workers through this crisis.
