23.01.2022 The tragedy that is the Alex McKinnon story is both inspirational and deplorable. The inspiration is obviously Alex and his beautiful family the deplorable is the current state of Rugby League. The Storm with Bellamy at the helm have employed since he came into the job a style of footy that is against the spirit of the game and he has instilled this in his disciples. Wrestling jiu jitsu are the norm. First point of contact being to hold the ball up then work the player over w...hich includes getting the player off balance usually by taking out one leg. Chicken wings crusher tackes leg twists can all be attributed to this club. The worst thing about it is that the rest of the league bar a few clubs have all adopted this style of play. And Bellamy has many disciples who have done apprenticeships under his reign. As far as I am concerned this club has a lot to answer for. The epidemic of bicep and pectoral injuries can also be attributed to this style of tackling and slowing of the ruck. Was Alex McKinnons injury an accident? No it was it just a matter of time before someone was seriously hurt.Where is the leadership from the faceless cash counter at NRL HQ? There is so much wrong with our game ATM people are voting with their feet but the NRL couldn't care less instead bowing to almighty channel 9 dollar. As far as Cameron Smith all I can say I was watching that night and just as he always has done he questioned the ref for his team but after watching what had happened and being an intelligent fellow he knew Alex was in big trouble hell all of us could see he couldn't breathe and for him to question the ref constantly was disgusting. He has lost all credibility and respect and he will never recapture that. I hope for his sake he never has to deal with anything of the magnitude that the McKinnon family has over the last 18 months. 16.01.2022 A few weeks ago during jersey day at my sons local school in Maroubra I noticed that more than half the kids at the school were in our colours. As a resident of Maroubra I am going to demand that marketing get Rooster flags from Maroubra all the way down Anzac Pd to Kingsford Randwick and Coogee and lobby Randwick City Council to do so if we are lucky enough to make the Grand Final. There are not just Souths supporters here and as far as I am concerned when properties are sold in this area they are referred to as Eastern Suburbs property. I am a proud Rooster living in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and I for one am sick to death that the many Rooster fans are snubbed I want my team represented here
