17.01.2022 A little bit of history . The building that Mikutta operates from, was once used as a soap making factory. W H Burford & Sons commenced manufacturing soap in 1840 and had several locations in the Adelaide CBD. In 1919 the factory in Sturt Street, Adelaide was destroyed by fire. After construction of new premises at Burford Gardens, Burford’s relocated in 1922 to the northern suburbs.... "Burford Gardens" as the name of a suburb has since vanished, though its streets remain: Flame Avenue, Gum Avenue, Wattle Avenue, Grevillea Avenue and Bushwood Avenue, all in what is now known as Dry Creek. In 1924 W H Burford & Sons amalgamated with J Kitchen & Sons from Melbourne and Lever Brothers from Sydney. Long story short in 1944 a name change occurred, and they were known as Associated Enterprises. They continued trading until 1957 when Unilever Australia bought out Burford’s. When next visiting our office, you will see historical photos on our glass panelled reception door.

10.01.2022 De-Branding! What was once a logo covered Coca-Cola truck is now a clean and shiny unembellished truck ready for its next adventure. This truck had the Coca-Cola branding removed, curtains painted red. Decals removed from cab and rear wall and painted red.

08.01.2022 When this tri-axle tipper came into the workshop you can see there was a lot rust and the paint was dull. After a sandblast and some fresh paint on the tub and chassis it now looks brand new!

05.01.2022 Mikutta welcomes back to South Australia, Andrew Ikin. As part of the team. Andrew will be helping with developing the newly completed dedicated heavy vehicle crash repair workshop focusing on insurance claims, estimating crash repairs and repair shop management. Andrews’ career began with his family's Loss Assessing company covering Tasmania in all areas of the motor industry including heavy trucks, machinery and anything with wheels and tyres. He was trained to assess most ...aspects of domestic and light commercial vehicles by senior members of the firm. A brief hiatus found Andrew studying accounting, and then taking up a position in Adelaide with a new crash repair firm and was the beginning of what is now twenty years specialising in heavy truck and trailer crash repairs. After twelve years in Adelaide he was offered a position in north Queensland with a large repair network covering the eastern states. Andrew said, ‘It’s a great experience to work with different firms and to gain an insight into alternative methods in workshop estimating and management’. Eight years on and Andrew has returned to South Australia and ready to help Mikutta's clientele both existing and new. With forty years of accumulated knowledge in insurance claims, estimating crash repairs and repair shop management, there is a wealth of experience to assist all clients. If you’re not insured or self-insured there is plenty of advice available to help with repairs and recoveries. Andrew has successfully worked with most of the heavy vehicle insurers in Australia including NTI, QBE, Zurich, Allianz and Global amongst others and has developed some very successful relationships with both claims staff and loss assessors including private firms such as AAMC and Innovation Group.
