25.01.2022 The Historical Society of Vic tell me its Family History Month. If youve completed Fays challenge, here are some events they suggest we can do online. Have y...ou attended any Family History Month activities yet..? There are so many amazing events - all available from the comfort of your lounge room! Theres a great event run by the Society of Australian Genealogists: DNA tested and wondering what to do with it? The session aims to lead you through an introduction to DNA integrated research methods, with lots of time for Q&As at the end. https://www.sag.org.au/event-3896060 Theres also several TROVE workshops, so you can take advantage of all the new features "new" TROVE has to offer. Its also great for those who are looking to understand this incredible resource for the first time https://www.trybooking.com/book/event?eid=630635& And Bundoora Library is running its Family History Group online via Webex next Tuesday afternoon. The group aims to help each other through road blocks, give ideas for what to do next and answer questions about family research. https://www.boroondara.vic.gov.au/ev/family-history-group-1 For more events (there are pages of new events, something for everyone!) check out the National Family History month website: https://familyhistorymonth.org.au/events/ See more

09.01.2022 Hello Everyone. The committee has decided to run a competition which we hope will help keep you occupied in these tough times. We want you to write some articles as follows. These are the topics we hope you will find interesting - 1. Stories my Grandparents told me. 2. Stories I could tell my grandchildren - this could include memories of historical and / or important events, their influence and how our lives have changed over time (at home. technology, socially etc).... 3. My Life in Forty Photos - BUT dont go over fifty! Prizes will be awarded - such as a years free subscription to our society. Fay will be a judge and will second others depending on the response. Presentation is important and entirely up to you. Lots of photos help. The rules are very fluid as you can see. The finish date will PROBABLY be our first general meeting but this has not been discussed as yet.We will get back to you on this! It will evolve! Fays email address is [email protected] so email if you have any questions. I hope you get behind this, it should be fun! Depending on the size, articles could go in the newsletter.
