25.01.2022 To all our regular supporters, we are sad to announce the Mildura Horse Trials will not be running on the last weekend in July this year. As most of you know, #ifwecanwedo whenever presented with a challenge so we aren't ruling out rescheduling if this is possible later in the year. The organisation required to put this event on starts in Feb, requires financial commitment and many times more than the allowable number of people at this Covid time need to get together to g...et preparations done. Whilst we've been hoping and planning, it isn't to be in the same vein this year. This event within our small town relies on many generous sponsors who we just don't feel right asking for money from when many of these small businesses are suffering financially during this pandemic. Our small club cannot afford to run this event at a loss either. So, we are sorry and we are sad, as we are sure you are too. But it is how it is and we will remain adaptable and will endeavour to reschedule if possible. It may be on a reduced scale though but we'll keep you posted. #whoknowswemaypullsomethingofflaterinyear

23.01.2022 2021 - DURA IS ON (unless it's corona-off) Bit later getting out of the barriers this year due to well, a few things like corona and kids and jobs and life, but importantly, we ARE running in 2021. Will be a few amendments here and there and of course like we all gladly do so we can run events these days, we'll have things in place to be corona-compliant but the basics will be the same:... 1. Still on the last full weekend in July (23rd - 25th). Put your MI3DE horses in the paddock and bring the babies. 2. Still EV50 to CCN1*S (it works for us so see above point) 3 Weather will still be brilliant 4. We'll still be awesome to deal with 5. We'll still have a successful for some more than others stand-alone dressage day on Friday where you can get rid of the bad test before the real test that counts on Saturday (or if you are a sand-dancer grooming for a cray-cray eventer, you can bring your horse as there'll be a glorious mix of competitive dressage tests and eventing tests on Friday) 6. You can still show us how well you can jump in the freshman's SJ on Friday, only to have your brains fall out of your head overnight and ride completely differently and get rails in the main HT comp where it counts 7. Leave your frocks and whatever the male equivalent is behind, as no Fashions off the Field this year. Bring your OTTs though coz we love them 8. Prizes may not be as awesome as in previous years coz sponsors are corona-hurt too 9. There'll still be a heap of clear instructions on where to camp and where not to and people will still not read them and camp in the day-tripping area only to be politely asked to relocate. Campfires will still be allowed as no one has accidentally burnt the place down yet. 10. We may have some SEU-type awards for exceptional and share-worthy circumstances Entries will be up on Nommy when we get around to it. There'll be a mad rush when they open (as usual) but everything will work out in the wash (as usual). 21.01.2022 Well, if things didn’t quite go to plan at Dura for you, or they did and you want to step it up, our Pony Club is running an ODE on 15th September. Why not right? The course is in absolute fab condition, the weather and ground is great, just to name a few reasons. Now, you know the theory behind black and gold? Well this is similar, no frills, just same awesome grounds and weather, minus the stand-alone dressage comp, freshman’s SJ, 6 bar, shenanigans like Fashions off the Fi...eld, copious amounts of rugs and prizes and other stuff. It is a one day event, open to PC riders and limited amount of open riders with appropriate membership for insurance purposes (eg. EA). Different committee (Budgie will be burst by then and attending to infant duties) but same lovely service with a smile and relaxed atmosphere. It is the weekend before Mount Gambier HT (can’t wait for that) so may not suit everyone. Numbers will be capped anyway, as is run over one day.

Off The Track program aims to facilitate the placement of retired thoroughbred racehorses in second careers, and as a CCN1*S level horse trials winner, Jimmy O'Reilly is a great example of just how well that works. 11.01.2022 IMPORTANT Due to today’s announcement by the State Premier Daniel Andrews, Eventing Victoria has, in consultation with the Organising Committees, cancelled ...the August 1st Off The Track Eventing Victoria Combined Training event across the nine venues. Although some of the venues were outside the metropolitan area, the regional ones felt going ahead was not desirable at this time. We would like to thank Off The Track and Horseland for their support of this initiative. Hopefully our six weeks of lockdown produces the desired outcome and we can return to competition in the Spring.

09.01.2022 The Kate Attard Equine Freshman's Showjumping ring!! Without the great support of local people like Kate, it wouldn't be as easy to put on great warm up classes like the freshman's showjumping on the Friday before the Horse Trials proper. Horses and riders across all different grades took the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the arena and types of jumps they'd be jumping in the competition. Really, how cool is that? Or some just used it as another great schooling ...opportunity for their horse. I know I loved the freshman's courses so much that I replicated one of the lines in my HT round, oops, wrong jump order, elimination! Thank you Kate, for your generous support of our event this year. The feedback from competitors was that the freshman's was a great opportunity and lots of fun. We loved having you on the grounds, available for last minute treatments of horses who I'm sure really enjoyed and benefited from these.

07.01.2022 DURA UPDATE We're still on if you are. So that we don't have to call it early (as we ain't no crystal ballers) we're making adjustments to ensure we can continue full steam ahead to the last possible minute and only postpone in the event of things outside our control. And ensuring if this happens we only lose the minimum amount of money. 04.01.2022 Here at Dura HT, we like to showcase our region's produce. Horticulture is the backbone of the Sunraysia region, and so thanks to Melville Lyons, a long-time PC dad, past committee member and dedicated PC family member, we have our unique citrus-infused ‘out’ elements in all grades, at the water jump. We feed competitors, volunteers, spectators and judges, with free fresh oranges and mandies during the event, and encourage those not in fruit-fly free areas, to take a bag or ...three home with them. Continuing the horticultural theme, is the spectacular footing of almond hull, on the xc course and in the huge dressage warm up area, with thanks to Olam, one of Australia's biggest almond producers with over 12,000 ha grown in Sunraysia. It’s a shame our event falls outside the table grape season, as I’d sure enjoy being fanned whilst being fed grapes by slaves (or PC kids). Here’s some pics of the striking jumps, taken by PC member, Emily Robinson. Special mention of the crown of lemons, a Chris Esh masterpiece of artistic skill and patience.
