25.01.2022 Using a range of Telehealth tools, we can keep children enjoying their speech sessions and even share a game together.

22.01.2022 As it is OT Week, we have taken the opportunity to interview some of our wonderful clients about their experience and perspective of engaging in our Occupational Therapy services here at the Mildura Kids Clinic. My OTs are helping me to live independently to do things like learn to cook, take the bins out, fill up the dogs water bowls, learn to use money properly and help me to get my learner’s permit. My favourite thing to do is practice to get my Ls! I like OT because it makes me very happy!

Helped my client make choices about activities we did And very importantly - Have fun! Stay tuned for some videos of me doing my work.

17.01.2022 Like everyone, we are in uncharted waters with the health crisis. We have been busy at Mildura Kids Clinic with transitioning our clients to Telehealth (video conferencing) services to ensure continuity of their therapy. It is important to provide consistency, structure and support to our children at this time, which is what we will continue to offer via Telehealth at Mildura Kids Clinic. In our Zoom sessions, our therapists will be providing some ideas and options to use everyday resources to engage in therapy. We are looking forward to this new and exciting way to deliver continuity of services to our clients!

15.01.2022 Happy OT Week! This week provides an opportunity to celebrate our profession and reflect on the work that our Occupational Therapists do every day! Given the recent onset of droughts, bushfires, and the global pandemic, in 2020 the OT Week theme is: Resilience: Supporting our communities to rebuild, recover, and reengage. This year the event not only shines a spotlight on the value of occupational therapy in our communities, but also serves as a call to arms to support those... hardest hit. In supporting people to participate in activities they find meaningful, occupational therapists are vital in helping our communities through disaster recovery. As disaster survivors reengage in disrupted occupations (such as daily routines, activities and employment), they can better cope with stress and be supported through their recovery.

As a parent, OT has helped me put into place strategies to support me to assist my child to regulate emotions, working with the therapist to create individual learning plans with her school has been a credit to her success. What is your OT helping you to do?... As a parent, OT has helped me put into place strategies to support me to assist my child to regulate emotions, working with the therapist to create individual learning plans with her school has been a credit to her success. What is a favourite activity/game you have done with your OT? To be honest, I quite like activities where Theraputty is used. I find it very relaxing and the added bonus is that by seeing me enjoy the experience, it allows my child to explore this technique and have this tool for when she might need calming.
